Alanis was born Alanis Nadine Morissette on June 1, 1974 in Ontario, Canada. Her father (Alan) is a military instructor, and her mother (Georgia) is a teacher. She has 2 brothers: older brother (Chad), and a twin brother (Wade).

Alanis's first taste of fame actually came at the age of 11 when she was discovered after winning a talent contest. That discovery lead 2 her joining the cast of the Canadian kids show You Can't Do That On Television in 1986 (the show ran on Nikelodeon from 1981-1990). Here are some RARE pics of Alanis from her YCDTOT days! Alanis only appeared in 5 episodes of the 1986 season, which included their 100th episode:
