PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE
UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN & NORTHERN IRELAND BY THE SOUTHERN CAMEROONS NATIONAL COUNCIL, BELGIUM BRANCH

His Excellency Mr. Prime Minister,

On behalf of ourselves, and on behalf of the over six million subjugated people of the former UN trust territory of the Southern Cameroons under UK administration, we hold a peaceful demonstration at British embassy situated at Rue d'Arlon 85 Aarlenstraat Brussels to mourn the re-colonization of the Southern Cameroons which was facilitated by the British Government as administering powers and endorsed United Nations

We are demonstration to show  and  express our indignation to the fact that as administering powers of the Southern Cameroons, It was the UK's legal responsibility by means of the UN Charter to escort the Southern Cameroons to full independence and not to sacrifice it over to La Republique du Cameroun for re-colonization. A re-colonisation which has left Southern Cameroonians to be treated worst than captives of war.

We are demonstrating to express our righteous anger at the sloppy, shoddy and inattentive attitude    the UKs government is  responding to our numerous petitions, demonstrations and memorandums. Southern Cameroonians have legitimately expected that Her Majestys Government should come to our aid in a means of correcting the historical wrong she did to the people of Southern Cameroons 45 years ago.

But as say to add insult onto injury, the cries of Southern Cameroonians  through various petitions and demonstrations have meant nothing to you, the fact that Southern Cameroonians have been assimilated, subjugated, marginalise and are facing an eminent  tread of extinction has not won the attention of the UK authority or the  of the Common Wealth of Nations. Despite the loud cry of Southern Cameroonians soliciting the support of the British Government, no form of assistance has been attained. Every consecutive UK   government like in 1961 has given a deaf ear to the plights of the Southern Cameroonians. The British authorities keep on romancing with the Yaoundé regime at the detriment of Southern Cameroonians.

Evidence of this romance is when in  1995, Britain Stabs Southern Cameroons in the Back by allowing La Republique du Cameroun to join the Common Wealth of Nations. On what grounds does La Republique du Cameroun gain admissions into the Common Wealth? Can the British authority afford to pretend that they do not yet realise the fact that because of La Republique du Cameroun all-powerful obstruction, the Southern Cameroons is yet to gain anything substantial from the Common wealth of Nations? Common Wealth Scholarships and other forms of educational aid are awarded to French Camerounians who have been forced into the Southern Cameroons system of education while Southern Cameroonians are deprived of almost everything by the regime.

Mr Prime Minister, as you read this petitions today, there are thousands of innocent Southern Cameroonians and Southern Cameroons activists languishing in prison cell all over La Republique du Cameroun. Recent reports reaching us states that on the 28 April 2006,  more than sixty-five (65) SCNC Leaders were arrested in Oku Local Government Area, (LGA) Bui County, Northern Zone of the Southern Cameroons. Those arrested include amongst other; Prince Humphrey Mbinglo, Northern Zone chairperson, Pa Henry Nya, Northern Zone Vice Chairperson, Mr. Fidelis Chinwags, National Assistant Organising Secretary, Stephen Kongnso, Bui County Chairperson. As at this moment, they are still in custody, without adequate food, water and basics.

We also have Information that on the 3rd Of April 2006, Some 30 members of Southern Cameroons Youth League, (SCYL) were arrested in the towns of Mutengene, Mile 16 and Muea in the Southwest Province by gendarmes. They have since then been detained at the Gendarmerie legion in SONARA in Victoria where they are held under the worst inhuman conditions words would describe

Please Mr Prime Minister, as you finish reading this petition, We pray you to make a powerful call to Mr Paul Biya, ask him to immediately release all Southern Cameroonians under captivity. You could also send him a fax on, Mr Paul Biya, President of Cameroon Fax: +237-23-30-22 or to his prime Minster Mr. Inoni Ephraim, fax +237-23-57-35

Mr. Prime Minister, The Southern Cameroons is a different and distinct nation from la Republique du Cameroun. With its own international boundaries defined by international treaties, it is not an integral part of La Republique du Cameroun.

Southern Cameroonians are a separate and distinct people from the people of La Republique du Cameroun, LRC. They have a separate colonial history; a separate state-culture; a separate and different language; a different perception of life; a different way of life; a separate and distinct territory with internationally recognized borders; a separate vision of state affairs; a different identity and consequently a different destiny.

Southern Cameroonians are Not citizens of La Republique du Cameroun. We are by culture, history and international law citizens of SOUTHERN CAMEROONS. They are not français Cameroonais.

On the May 20, 1972 President Ahmadou Ahidjo by Presidential decree annexed Southern Cameroons (West Cameroon), abolished the federation, divided Southern Cameroons into two provinces of his country and appointed francophone governors (proconsuls) to rule in Buea and Bamenda.

With this annexation, Southern Cameroons, Our Fatherland has been under military occupation. Southern Cameroons is ruled as a conquered land and Southern Cameroonians are treated as a subjugated person.

Tomorrow, Saturday 20th of May and like all other 20th Mays, students and pupil of the Southern Cameroons will be forced into marching and celebrating this day. We want to state here that this day has no bases for celebration for the Southern Cameroonians. The 20th of May 1972 was the day the last nail was put on the coffin of annexation of Southern Cameroons. Thus 20th May represents the day on which Southern Cameroons international boundary with La Republique du Cameroun was violated and Southern Cameroons reduced to a colony of La Republique du Cameroun.  By reducing Southern Cameroons to a colony, Southern Cameroonians have lost their freedom and right to equality with citizens of La Republique du Cameroun. As a result Southern Cameroonians are exploited, marginalized and abused.

Mr. Prime Minister, if you doubt the annexation, brutal occupation and imposition of alien rule in Southern Cameroons by La Republique du Cameroun Let the Table below speak to your heart and humanly conscience. Judge for yourself what future the Southern Cameroonian youth has in this relationship with La Republique du Cameroon.

WHAT FUTURE HAS SOUTHERN CAMEROONIANS IN LA REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN?

Mr. Prime Minister if not that Southern Cameroons has been annexed and Southern Cameroonians enslaved, how comes that;

1.      The current two Provincial Governors in Southern Cameroons are all francophones?

2.      Nine (9) Senior Divisional Officers (S.D.O.s) out of 13 S.D.O.s in Southern Cameroons are francophones?

3.      Fifty (50) Divisional Officers D.Os) out of fifty-five (55) D.Os in Southern Cameroons are francophones?

4.      Out of seven Gendarmerie Company Commanders in the Northern Zone, only two (28.5%) are Southern Cameroonians while five (78.5%) are citizens of La Republique du Cameroun?

5.      All top administrative, military and security personnel in Southern Cameroons are citizens of La Republique du Cameroun?

6.      Forty (40) out of fifty-five (55) Commonwealth Scholarships awarded to Cameroon in 2002, went but to francophones?

7.      All francophonie Scholarships went to francophones?

Mr Prime Minister, most recently in Melbourne at the Common Wealth games, the delegation from Cameroons was filled with French Cameroun athletes. Infact despite the fact that Southern Cameroons has talented alerts who have always succeeded at the Mount Cameroons race, a race which should be by far steeper and tedious than any race in Australia, Southern Cameroonians were sidelined for French Cameroonians. Thank God the laws of nemesis befell them in the medal counts.

Mr Prime Minister, we fear that this continuous   illegal action of the oppressive  regime of La Republique du Cameroun  is enough provocation to  prompt a violent  response from the Southern Cameroonians, which  the  Yaoundé regime would intend profit to slaughter innocent  Southern Cameroonians as was the case in Kumbo in 2001.

Already, the Youths of the Southern Cameroons through the Southern Cameroons Youth League, has started with the recruitment of members for a Southern Cameroons defence force. The Southern Cameroons youth are sick and tired of being ruled by a narrow minded, egotistical, selfish and wicked regime that finds it  fashionable to deprive  their ( Southern Cameroonian) parents  brothers and sisters of the very natural resources that are exploited from the Southern Cameroons territory.

The crisis in the Southern Cameroons is a ticking time bomb. In fact it is a ticking time bomb whose minute hand runs with the speed of a second hand. We are pleading with the UKs government and the  international community as well  to prevent another war and genocide in Africa. Southern Cameroonians dont want war, which is why we have resolve to THE FORCE OF ARGUMENT, NOT THE ARGUMENT OF FORCE    as our modus operandi

Mr Prime Minister, The Reverend Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa once said If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. -

In this light, the Southern Cameroons National Council  calls on you and  your high office  to rapidly take actions of solidarity and support to our country, our people, our women and our children, as an endorsement of the elementary right that we have to guarantee our integrity and  right to  self determination .

The SCNC calls on you to use your high office to mount pressure on Mr Biya and the Yaoundé regime to immediately release all Southern Cameroonian languishing in police cells and prisons all over La Republique du Cameroun.

The SCNC prays the Prime Minister and his government to table the case of the peoples of the Southern Cameroons before the United Nations General Assembly and any other relevant international organisations for debate and subsequent granting of our independence.
