Glyn fell into a seat on the subway tiredly. She and AJ had been out doing random stuff since about 7 AM, and now it was almost eleven pm. She looked around suspiciously at the strange assortment of people in the subway car. Was that Maggie Robinson over there?
"Who is that person standing by the door?" AJ wondered.
"I think it's Maggie Robinson." Glyn stated, watching her inch slowly toward them. "Those little teenies are looking at you."
"Oh no." AJ ducked his head and put his hat back on.
"Somehow I don't think that's going to help." Glyn glared at Maggie Robinson and the little teenyboppers. One of the girls started screaming incoherantly about something, and pointing in their direction.
"We're having technical difficulties, er, if everyone could please have a seat and-" The pilot person started talking over the intercom. The lights abruptly went out, and they could hear the brakes screeching for about five minutes, then the subway train came to a halt.
"Holy shit!" Glyn grabbed AJ's arm accidentally. There was a loud crashing sound somewhere and some of the teenyboppers screamed.
"OHMYGOD!" a high-pitched voice screamed. "I smell smoke! I smell smoke!! We're all going to die!!!!"
"Shut the hell up" AJ grumbled. The girl screamed again.
"I don't want to die!!" another little girl yelled.
"Be quiet," Glyn pleaded. Piercing screaming wasn't going to help. Maybe if they were going to die then one of those little shrieking people would die first and she'd have a few seconds of silence. "You should sing something to shut them up," she muttered sarcastically.
"They'd just keep screaming. It wouldn't work." AJ didn't like not being able to see anything.
"AJ!!! I love you!" someone yelled.
"Yeah. I love you too," he replied. There were a few loud shrieks and for a few moments it was relatively quiet, until there was another ugly sound and the silence erupted into screaming again. Glyn heard a shuffling noise then a thud, as if someone had walked into a wall.
"Cassi?!" a hysterical voice yelled. "OHMYGOD! She's dying!! Somebody do something!"
"What the…" AJ muttered.
"AJ, she was trying to find you and she fell and she's not moving! Ohmygod!" Another shriek.
"Sucks for her," Glyn said cheerily.
"Be nice Glyn! This isn't so bad. Umm… I'm sure she'll be fine," he said unconvincingly.
"Glyn?" someone repeated.
"What?" Glyn didn't feel like explaining her unusual name to anyone right now.
"You'd be Glyn Kerrington?" the same person asked.
"Damnit! Leave me alone!" Glyn wondered if it was Maggie Robinson.
"Hey! Maybe my cell phone's working," AJ remarked hopefully.
"Glyn Kerrington is that dumb bitch who's been following AJ around!" a teenybopper hissed.
"Glyn Kerrington," another echoed ominously.
"Maybe it is," Glyn replied, trying to ignore the obnoxious kids.
"I'm gonna call Bri," he said quietly, then dialed a number. Glyn could see a faint glow from
"That'll help. What's he going to do? Come and find us and-"
"Stop being so cynical!" a girl who sounded like dead Cassi's friend ordered.
"I'll be cynical if I want to!" Glyn retorted. "Where are your mothers, anyway?" She got no reply.
"Brian!" AJ said into his phone. "Aww crap! The battery's dying. Hey, we're stuck!"
"Brian? BRIAN!" a teenybopper shrieked.
"Stay away!" Glyn warned.
"I WANNA TALK TO BRIAN!!!" someone yelled. A few kids threw themselves at AJ and he fell over. They started grabbing for the phone and one of them finally snatched it.
"Brian? Brian Littrell?" she stuttered. "I love you Brian! DAMNIT! The battery's dying!"
"We're all going to die!!" someone wailed.
"Oh, shut up already!" Glyn snarled as she pulled AJ to his feet. "Give the phone back!"
"NO! You can't make me! Brian, I'm not giving the phone back! No! I don't want to!" the girl argued as the batteries faded out. "The stupid phone's not working!" She threw it at a wall and Glyn heard something crack.
"I want the phone!!" another of the teenies squealed, diving for it blindly. She hit the wall headfirst, knocking herself out.
"Kirsti!? Are you okay?! KIRSTI!!!" someone yelled shrilly. Something hit Glyn in the face.
"Damnit! Why aren't you all in bed anyway?" One of the teenies screamed a cry of rage.
"I hate you AmberI wanted to talk to Brian! He's my FAVORITE! You don't even LIKE Brian!!!!!" one of the things said menacingly.
"Oh shut up Jenni! You're just jealous cause AJ doesn't love YOU!"
"He does SO! You're a bitch Amber!" It sound like they had started punching each other.
"My hair! DAMN YOU MY HAIR!" Amber squealed.
"Um.." Glyn tried to get closer to the wall. There was a loud thud as one of them hit the floor unconscious, and the other screamed trumphantly, then started sobbing loudly. "Maybe you should, um.."
"They'll be fine. Maybe." AJ was sort of scared.
"Violent little things, aren't they?" Glyn muttered, sliding down along the wall to sit on the floor.
"What the hell is going on?" An annoyed voice asked loudly. "I want to speak with the driver!"
"Glyn where are you?" AJ asked, ignoring the other voice.
"Whatever happened to that phone?" a different voice wondered.
"That was my phone and it's broken. Or one of those girls has it," AJ replied.
"Those little savage brats, you mean," Glyn added. "AJ, we're going to be here for the rest of our lives."
"No we won't… Someone's going to find us, someday. Maybe."
"Those teenies will hunt you down anywhere," Glyn muttered. "I wonder what time it is."
"11:53," someone yelled.
"Thanks!" she called. "It's cold. I'm tired. I hate this. I want to go home. This sucks!"
"Would you be QUIET?" a strange voice pleaded.
"Shut up!" Glyn didn't feel like being told what to do.
"I wish you would," the same person said.
"I wish you would!" Glyn retorted, then sat her head on her knees.
"Glyn?" AJ asked pensively. She didn't answer. "Glyn???"
"Sorry, I'm under orders from its Majesty over there not to say anything," Glyn replied angrily.
"Hm…" AJ wondered if Glyn was in a mood for talking. Glyn sighed dejectedly, feeling miserable. "We probably won't be here much longer …"
"Are you kidding? We're going to die in here," Glyn grumbled. "I'm going to sleep."
"Wait! We are not going to die here. How much did you sleep last night?"
"Well let's see, between Marian waking me up at three and you calling at six, I must say I got about two hours… if that." Glyn sighed. "And we ARE going to die here. We'll all just waste away and no one will ever know.."
"If someone doesn't shut her up soon there will be hell to pay!" the angry voice stated bitterly.
"Be quiet! I hate you!" Glyn exclaimed. She heard something moving. "What the hell is that?" Something groaned. "Oh jeez. It's one of the teenies."
"What time is it?" a young voice inquired sleepily. "I want my mom."
"It's 12:01," a voice replied.
"OHMYGOD!" she shouted. "Happy birthday AJ!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" she yelled, awakening one of her teenybopper friends.
"Kirsti? Is that YOU?" a voice squealed.
"Oh god. Why, why…" Glyn couldn't believe they were waking up.
"Cassi! Ohmygod! You're okay!! It's AJ's birthday!"
"OHMYGOD!"
"What? Where am I?" another teenybopper voice whined.
"Amber!! It's AJ's birthday!"
"Happy Birthday AJ! I love you so much!!" Amber declared. "Um. Brian's still my favorite, Kirsti."
"Happy Birthday Glyn," AJ said quietly.
"Wait! It's AJ's birthday, not Glyn's!" one of the juvenile voices insisted, confused.
"It's my birthday too," Glyn protested calmly. "I hope you know that more than one person can be born on one day."
"SHUT UP! You stole his birthday you dumb bitch!" someone shrieked.
"There is no need to get upset," AJ said through clenched teeth. "We were both born on January 9th. It's not a big deal. Okay?"
"Fine, sorry," the voice muttered.
"He doesn't love you, Amber!" someone hissed spitefully.
"Shut up!" Amber replied.
"Quiet already!" Glyn ordered. "All you little freaks just be quiet!"
"I'm not a freak! YOU'RE a freak!" one of the girls squealed.
"I'm not going to argue with her anymore," Glyn sighed. "Happy birthday, AJ. I'm going to sleep, okay? So nobody talk to me!" She curled up on the floor and closed her eyes.
"G'night Glyndalyn," AJ whispered. The four teenybopper friends were silently jealous but didn't say anything that might make AJ angry at them.
