PlayStation 2 Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 Tony Hawk is back for the 3rd time, this time he is on the PS2. Leaving the game is Bob Burnquist who sold out to Konami's ESPN X Game Skateboarding. But in place of the sell-out comes Bam Margerra, from MTV's Jackass. This game is the first online PS2 games folks, and after playing numerous times via my USB Ethernet Adapter from Linksys... I must say, even on a 56k server, the game is still great. The only real downside to the online play is that, the servers are almost ghost towns, since Sony's communications devices is NOT out yet. Thanks for releasing it on time SCEA. The other bad part is the very, very limited amount of space you have to type in during the game. I believe you can only type up 20 characters per message, and boy do they go away fast. You'll find yourself asking, "could you retype that?" And without a logging system of what you say, it's pretty lame. Aside from a few minor flaws, and no Sony communication devices, the online play is just like playing with 4 friends without a split screen. Too bad you can't edit the soundtrack like you can on your Xbox. As far as the soundtrack goes its full of mediocre bands, but not bad bands. But the surround sound, and effects are stunning. Career mode is a lot better then before,
but I don't really know how pedestrians make a career mode more
enjoyable. But interacting for goals with them could be fun.
If enough skaters complete Career mode, you can unlock: In addition to those 8 unlock able characters, you can unlock 3 classic levels from THPS1 (Burnside, Warehouse, and Roswell, NM) Also unlock special modes to make the game even more enjoyable. Screen Shots Tony
