" decaf coffee "
caffine, it's what gets many of us going in the morning, and what keeps many of us awake at night. that's why many de-caffinated teas and coffees are now filling more space on supermarket shelves. but be warned, the method matters.
there are two ways that caffine is removed from coffee beans, the most common involves chemicals. the same ones that can be found in paint strippers, toilet bowl cleaners and adhesives. whether there are traces of chemicals retained in the end product is a subject of much debate.
the safest option is to go for decaffinated coffee that has been throught the swiss water process. you'll find them marked with a water drop. or, ask your waiter if their decaffinated coffee has been water filtered, and enjoy.
