GoldenBear is our traveling companion, providing company and comedic value wherever we go. GoldenBear actually originates from the Delaware House on Interstate 95. GoldenBear came out of the claw machine in a 2-for-1 deal with an inchworm to be named later. After recieving GoldenBear, Eric appreciated his decision to attend the Fordham Tournament.
GoldenBear is a small teddy bear about 6 inches in height, but seems much taller with his boundless enthusiasm. He is ecstatic wherever he goes, always cheering on his friends with his arms raised high. He was especially a treat in Toronto, where there was little to cheer about. Here are some of GoldenBear's pictures from Worlds 2002. We're having technical difficulties with a few of the pictures, so some more will go up soon. GoldenBear (NEW!!) also has a weblog of his adventures and day-to-day happenings. Also, keep your eyes open for new and exciting vacations that GoldenBear will take!
This is GoldenBear showing his characteristic enthusiasm, cheering for two unknown hockey players. |
GoldenBear is very PC, cheering (and clinging) |
GoldenBear has a Kodak moment with the Colorado Avalanche and the Stanley Cup. |
|
Bet you didn't know that GoldenBear actually was a great hockey star in his days before the claw machine. His stage name was actually Eddie Girard. |
GoldenBear is actually a certifiable Legend of Hockey, according to the Hockey People! |
This is an extremely poor picture of the photographer and the black and white hockey players, but GoldenBear was examining a new career as a puck! |
|
GoldenBear expands his hockey-puck horizons - in fact, he could by the hockey puck for the whole world!! |
I bet that's the nicest locker room that any hockey player has seen, even GoldenBear. If you look close, you can see him among Liz's feathers. |
GoldenBear, sly dog that he is, is actually taking this picture, so he's not actually in it. But his date for the evening had tripped over her own feet, as some might say. Poor Liz. |
|
GoldenBear did manage to make Eric smile, as Eric was stricken by the plague and could not leave the hotel room with the two nice Malayian Guys until it was time to fly home. |
You almost can't see him, but there's GoldenBear seeing his second snowfall in Buffalo New York. |
GoldenBear is taking a relaxing break on the camper after the harrowing drive from Toronto to Buffalo. |
GoldenBear, again, measuring the height of the snowdrift and discovering that he comes up short. |
This is GoldenBear posing with Liz's dad's geese. He likes to move them around the lawn so much that the neighbors think that they are real. In the winter, especially with seven feet of snow, the myth is broken. GoldenBear takes advantage of their stillness to snap a quick picture. |
Oops! Too much snow for GoldenBear! |
Before we made it all the way home, GoldenBear takes a nice dip in Evan's hot tub with James and Evan. This was especially amusing because of the bits of snow on the ground in Pittsburgh and the 30 degree weather. But this was no trouble for GoldenBear! Nothing was stopping him from enjoying the hot tub with two of his favorite boys! |
|
Finally GoldenBear, with Emily, James, and Debbye, takes a break before going to get all of our haircuts. It had been a long trip, but GoldenBear was (obviously) ecstatic and enthusiastic about being home |

Pictures from GoldenBear's trip to Philly will be up as soon as we have the money to develop them. But cooler? GoldenBear has a weblog!!!! Check it out!!!
