Beer Review: Whitbread Pale Ale

A classic Pale Ale imported from England, this is a product of one of the UK's oldest breweries. There is a huge distinction between English and American Pale ales. This one is malty, almost sweet, with a moderate caramelly bready taste, but balanced with very moderate hops. American Pales, on the other hand, are typically very hoppy--almost like an IPA (example: Sierra Nevada is an American Pale). Whitbread's is pleasant to drink and recommended for those who think they don't like darker beers.... Goes great with food -- even cheese! -- The King

Boddington's web site claims that 'in May 2000, the Whitbread Beer Company (makers of Whitbread Pale Ale) became part of Interbrew, the Belgian brewer famous for its classic beers'. Apparently the Whitbread Beer Company is now known as Interbrew UK Ltd. I couldn't find Whitbread, however, on Interbrew's home page.
