Beer Review: Old Stock Ale 2001

A robust aroma hinting of fruit greeted me as I dove in for a taste of this medium ruby-colored brew. Smooth, with a slightly fruity, slightly roasted flavor in its medium-to-heavy body. Indeed, I found the body slightly 'thick' tasting. Despite a higher alcohol content (11.4%), there really was never a harsh alcohol 'bite' present in the not-overly-complex flavor. Nice, but not the best barleywine I've ever had. -- Brewmeister G
