Beer Review: Grozet

When I saw that Grozet was brewed using gooseberries, I knew I had to try it. I grew up with gooseberries as my family had several bushes of them in the backyard. For those not familiar with them, think of a grape with a tough skin. Gooseberries are nice and sweet and juicy, but how would they fare in a fermented beverage? Hints of fruit were on the aroma of this brew. Light in color and taste, I found the fruitiness extended to the flavor as well -- much to my delight! Tangy, but still light to the taste, I really enjoyed this gooseberry & wheat ale. It's been years since I last had gooseberries, but I loved them then & I still do. Grozet is brewed in Scotland and imported into the US by Legends Ltd., of Baltimore, Maryland. This was a great, different type of fruit / wheat beer. -- Brewmeister G
