Beer Review: Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold
I would like to begin this review by thanking Biermeister Rudolph. Were it not for him (and a very, very kind acquaintance of his), I do not know when I would have first had the privilege of trying any of the Great Lakes beers -- brews I had heard tale of for some time but which I had yet to find in the Northern Virginia area. And so they sat, unreviewed, on the distant shores of Lake Erie. Enter Biermeister Rudolph, a gent with a penchant for lighter beers and throwing parties wherein his friends can consume various types of said lighter beers. As I stood, possibly drooling, in front of his fridge, gazing upon the selection he had amassed for this end-of-summer gig, I immediately reached for a Dortmunder Gold. Smooth in taste and light in color, this lager possessed a mild, light body. There was no 'bite' to be found, nor could one detect any fruit or hops notes in this brew (as it should be). Truly, a nice, lighter beer! -- Brewmeister G
