Beer Review: Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager

The first time I tried this dark lager, I was told by my server that this was a 'spicy beer'. While it washed down my blackened swordfish pretty well that evening, I did not then (nor now) find this to be a very 'spicy' beer. Medium in body, with a slightly sharp aroma, there perhaps exist slight spice notes -- but these are nothing like one would find, say, in a spicy winter brew. Smoother than the regular Dixie Lager, this was only an okay beer. -- Brewmeister G

This is a fine beer with a smokey, dry taste and with a hint of berry in the aftertaste. Looking for something different but not too overbearing? Try a bit of Voodoo. The perfect beverage for one of those small, off-the-beaten-path bars in New Orleans filled with live jazz and loose women. I give this beer my highest rating - it's a beer I could drink one after another all night long, and I don't usually rate dark beers that good. -- Biermeister Rudolph
