Beer Review: Bert Grant's IPA

Apparently Bert Grant was known to many as the 'Dean of American Craft Brewers', having developed and patented the hop processing system still widely used today. All I knew that morning (as I hurried to review my final three brews before I caught a flight back east) was that I had his IPA on the table in front of me. It advertised itself as 'a faithful reproduction of the famous 19th century pale ale'. Huh. Do tell. Light in color, with a light-to-medium body, this beer also was light on the hops, possessing not a very strong hops presence at all. Crisp in flavor, with a slight, not-too-disagreeable edge at the end, this was nonetheless a strangely disappointing IPA. Sorry, Bert. -- Brewmeister G
