Beer Review: Abita Amber

I originally tried this beer with a soft-shelled crab dinner in a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant off of Bourbon Street. Medium in both color and body, this beer had no real hoppiness or 'bite' to it. To expand a bit, the color was golden brown and the body was nice and solid. This was a good, bare-bones lager. -- Brewmeister G

Classic amber brew (hence the name, gee whiz?!) with a mild, yet distinctive, taste. Unlike Yankee or European ambers - Abita brews this one for the sweltering heat of the bayou. It's got that classic amber taste, but it's not too strong, thick, and heavy, like ambers brewed for debating politics on a cold January at a pub in Boston. If you love ambers, you won't be disappointed in the taste year round. -- Biermeister Rudolph
