Pilaf Saga
Manga Volume 1-2

This is the very first saga in Dragonball. It starts out with Son Goku meeting Bulma, Son Goku surprises Bulma with his amazing strength (like surviving being shot!) Bulma then decides to enlist his help in her search for the Dragonballs, and the fact that she can use Son Goku's 4-Star Dragonball.

They move along to the forth ball, with Bulma already owning two balls and Goku having the third. Along the way they run into a dinosaur who seems intent on making Bulma his lunch, but this dinosaur hadn't reckoned with Goku. Having easily defeated the dinosaur Goku and Bulma press on.

Having rested up in Bulma Hoi-Poi Capsule house, the morning beginning with Goku testing out Bulma's crotch as a pillow! Having found there wasn't much to rest on Goku removes Bulma panties and is shocked to see she is missing a few things *ahem*. Bulma wakes up and panics, after hearing Goku say "N...no...balls?!?", she immediately thinks she has lost her Dragonballs.

Heading outside for his daily morning exercise of crushing boulders with his bear hands, Goku bumps into a sea turtle. The turtle reveals he is lost and has been trying to get back to the sea for a year. Bulma tells him that the sea is 120km to the south! Goku then volunteers to take the turtle back to the sea, much to Bulma's objection. Goku and the turtle set off leaving Bulma, but she has second thoughts about being on her own and follows Goku and the turtle.

Further down the road they encounter a huge monster who wishes to dine on the turtle. Goku quickly disposes of this giant with a single attack, and they're on their way. Upon reaching the sea the turtle asks them to wait promising a reward for their generosity. But when he returns all he has brought is an old man.

But this is no ordinary old man, this is Kame-Sennin or Master Roshi himself, and he comes with a reward for Goku for helping out the turtle. First off he calls out "The Immortal Phoenix", but after nothing happens the turtle reminds him about "the unpleasantness with the tainted bird seed", and Roshi tells us that he died. Then he tells Goku he'll get something even better, and he shouts "Kintoun".

The next thing we know a yellow flying could flies down and lands in front of Roshi. He reveals that this is Kintoun, a magical could that only the pure of heart can ride, as he demonstrates by leaping aboard. Or should I say tries to demonstrate, as he ends up going straight through it! Goku then tries and lands perfectly on the cloud revealing his pure heart.

Seeing this Bulma asks for a Kintoun of her own, but when Turtle points out she didn't really help, Roshi will only give her something if he can look at her panties! Thus revealing why Roshi couldn't ride Kintoun: he's a big pervert! Bulma agrees to show him her panties, but as we know she hasn't got any on, thanks to Goku. So she ends up flashing Roshi, triggering his famous nose bleeds.

While Roshi is thinking how he can reward this, Bulma notices that he has the 3-Star Dragonball round his neck. At first Roshi refuses to give it to them but with a little "persuasion" from Bulma he agrees! With 4 Dragonballs in their possession our heroes set off once more.

The search for the next Dragonball brings them to what seems to be a deserted village but Goku seems to "sense" people. He proves to be right as from out of nowhere he is met with an ax in the head, but due to his incredibly hard head he is OK. Our heroes soon learn that this village is under attack from a monster named Oolong. The villagers tell Bulma and Goku how Oolong always comes to take away one of the village girls to his lair. After Bulma finds out that one of the residents has a Dragonball she agrees to help out. To find out where his lair is Goku dresses up like the girl who is going to be taken away.

Oolong soon turns up and he is a huge ogre with a club, he worries that he is frightening his "bride" so he changes to a good looking man. Bulma immediately rushes out offering her 36C "credentials". Goku uses the distraction to relieve himself against a tree. Oolong soon realizes that if he is a girl he shouldn't be able to do that and challenges Goku to a fight.

Goku is quick to accept, and Oolong changes into a giant robot with a bowl of soup and chopsticks. After a lot of talk he is hit with a stone by a kid, and he yells in pain. Goku soon realizes that he isn't strong at all. Oolong knows that the jig is up and he quickly flees, but once outside the village he transforms back into a small pig. It is then we find out that Oolong is really the pig, he is a shapeshifter but he can only do it for 5 minutes after which he must rest for a whole minute.

He manages to fool Goku for a bit, but he is soon captured. And he leads all the village people to his lair where they recover their girls. But they have become somewhat accustomed to living in the luxury that Oolong provides and don't seem too thrilled to be rescued. Their mission complete, Bulma and Goku receive their fifth Dragonball. Also Oolong agrees to accompany them, as Bulma thinks his shapesifting could come in handy.

Our heroes travel the next part of the journey by boat. Bulma reveals that the next Dragonball is somewhere around Fry Pan Mountain. Oolong reveals this is the home of the terrible "Gyu Mao", and then promptly changes into a fish and jumps into the river! Goku starts to get undressed in preparation to catch the shapeshifter, but Bulma has a better idea. She uses her panties as "bait", and sure enough the sleazy Oolong falls for it hook, line and sinker (excuse the crummy joke). Once caught Bulma seems to not mind at all as she gives Oolong a piece of candy, but strangely not to Goku.

Then luck runs out on our heroes, as the boat runs out of gas. Bulma tells Oolong to turn into an oar so they can get ashore and take out a Hoi-Poi Capsule. But luck is just not going their way, as when they reach shore, Bulma has lost all the capsules! She then begins to argue with Goku about the prospect of walking, during which Oolong disappears yet again! Goku searches on Kintoun, but to no avail. It is then that Bulma reveals her secret weapon. She starts whistling! This has a drastic effect on Oolong who has some "Digestive Distress"! It seems that the candy Oolong received from Bulma was designed for this exact purpose! After falling victim to this from Bulma and Goku, who gives it a try upon finding it very funny, Oolong swears he'll never try to run again.

Bulma tells Oolong to turn into a motorbike so they can continue. Oolong cannot support Bulma's weight however, because his strength stays the same in whatever form he takes. He decides to be "helpful" however by turning into a pair of panties for Bulma. This offer is refused with force! The trio soon reach a desert area but Bulma and Oolong don't seem as keen as Goku on continuing on. Bulma soon falls asleep after complaining and Oolong decides to the same. But someone has their eyes on our heroes.

We see that a small cat like creature has been spying our heroes from a rocky outpost. It rushes inside to inform "Lord Yamcha" that they have "game". He too takes a look and decides that they may not have much cash but may have some Hoi-Poi Capsules so he tells the cat creature, now known as Pu'ar to make the preparations! Goku tells Oolong he is going to go and try to get some food, when they are suddenly greeted by desert bandits Yamcha and Pu'ar

Yamcha and Pu'ar arrive in front of a startled Goku and Oolong. Yamcha demands their money and capsules, and introduces himself and Pu'ar. Oolong recognizes Pu'ar as the person he picked on in shape shifter school and Pu'ar reveals that Oolong was kicked out for stealing teachers panties!

Oolong instructs Goku to beat up Yamcha, but Goku doesn't understand why he has to! That is until Yamcha tries to slice Goku in half with a sword! The battle is now on! Goku dodges the sword and tries a Nyoi-Bo attack from above, but Yamcha blocks. Goku then catches Yamcha off guard with a blow to the stomach thanks to the extending powers of the Nyoi-Bo. Yamcha then strikes back with the Roga Fuu Fuu Ken sending Goku though several rock outcrops.

Thinking all is lost, Oolong transforms into a fly and tries to escape, but he is soon stopped when Pu'ar transforms into a fly swatter. Yamcha demands Oolong's capsules when Goku emerges from a pile of rubble! Yamcha attempts another Roga Fuu Fuu Ken, but Goku is quick to counter attack with his Jan-Ken! But Goku is too hungry to carry on fighting and meanwhile Yamcha is angry and ready to strike! That's when the day was saved.....by Bulma! She sits up to complain about the noise and one look at her and Yamcha makes a very hasty retreat. Yamcha's weakness is now revealed: he is afraid of girls!

Now safely inside Oolong's emergency capsule, Goku is eating like we all know he can and Bulma decides to take a shower telling Oolong not to peek, but it seems that Oolong has an idea in his mind. Over at Yamcha's place, he is discussing a plan with Pu'ar. His plan is that Pu'ar takes the shape of Goku or Oolong to lead away Bulma so Yamcha will have no trouble stealing their stuff!

Nightfall and Yamcha and Pu'ar decide that it is time to implement their plan. Yamcha decides to do some surveillance work before starting their plan. He looks in the first window he comes to and is met by Bulma standing naked in the shower! This nearly causes him to be discovered but Bulma does not hear him. Meanwhile Goku is telling Oolong why they are heading for Fry Pan Mountain: for the Dragonballs. Yamcha manages to overhear this and immediately decides to steal the Dragonballs so he may wish never to be afraid of girls!

Bulma finishes her shower and tells Oolong to have her clothes ready by tomorrow. Oolong then very kindly offers Bulma and Goku some juice, which they both gladly accept. Bulma heads upstairs and Goku falls asleep right after finishing the juice. It is then that Oolong reveals that he has drugged the juice so he can feel up Bulma!

Yamcha and Pu'ar in the mean time have come back to steal the Dragonballs. They find Goku sound asleep and Yamcha tells Pu'ar to transform into Goku to lure Bulma away. But when Oolong sees "Goku" coming up the stairs he transforms into Bulma so "Goku" won't tell on him. Pu'ar then leads Oolong away so Yamcha can steal the Dragonballs. He heads to the second floor and thinks the Dragonballs are hidden on the bed. Meanwhile Pu'ar reveals that he has tricked "Bulma" and Oolong reveals himself. Upon seeing this Pu'ar rushes back as Yamcha "is in great danger". We then see why: Yamcha pulled the covers on the bed back hoping for the Dragonballs but instead finds a naked sleeping Bulma! We then see Pu'ar leading him away with Yamcha only being able to say "Muh.....muh......mounds.....those mounds"

Morning comes and Goku has finally woken after drinking Oolong sleeping drug. Oolong tells Goku that he has been up all night standing guard in case Yamcha came back. Bulma then comes down stairs and starts shouting at Oolong because he didn't clean her clothes. Then, when Goku tells her that he was guarding in case Yamcha came back she tells him to send Yamcha right in if he came back! Oolong tells her there is something upstairs she can wear and she rushes off to change. Goku then sits down to a...Goku sized breakfast, when Bulma comes back down wearing a bunny costume! She is not to pleased with Oolong and tells him to get driving! He starts to protest having not slept all night but she tells him that he has to as she has to spend the morning with her make-up!

Meanwhile Yamcha is spying on our heroes. He tells Pu'ar to prepare the Panzer Faust and the "Mighty Mouse" as they are going to take the dragonball by force! They catch up with our heroes and Yamcha fires a rocket launcher right at their van! Bulma is knocked unconscious by the blast but Goku and Oolong come out side and Yamcha demands the dragonballs from them. Goku says he's getting nothing and charges for Yamcha. He tells him that he lost the first time because he was hungry but now his stomach was full. He proves it by landing a kick to Yamcha's face. Yamcha is ready to strike back when Pu'ar tells him his tooth has been knocked out and Yamcha feels the scene vowing revenge!

After he gets away Yamcha discusses tactics with Pu'ar and he hits upon the plan of stealing the dragonball after all seven have been collected. He then catches up with Goku, Oolong and the still unconscious Bulma and apologizes! He then offers them a car as a way of saying sorry! Oolong is not too keen to use it but Goku tells him he should trust people more and they get it. But we then see what Yamcha's plan is: the car has a tracking device planted inside and the two villains set off and follow our heroes.

2 days later our heroes are in search of the sixth dragonball, and it is getting hotter the closer they get. Oolong explains that nearby is Fry-Pan Mountain. He says that it used to be called Pleasant Mountain but 10 years ago a fire spirit fell from the heavens and set the mountain ablaze. He also reveals that Gyu-Mao, the Ox King, guards the mountain and his castle of treasures at the top.

Oolong decides that he is not going anywhere near the mountain and tries to run away, but Bulma puts a stop to this by giving Oolong the runs! We then see that Yamcha and Pu'ar are still following Bulma, Goku and Oolong. Yamcha is worried that Goku could be friendly with Gyu-Mao, but his thoughts are interrupted by a little girl who is being chased by a dinosaur. She removes a blade from her helmet and then decapitates the dinosaur, then blows it up with a laser beam also from her helmet!

She then runs into Yamcha and mistakes him for a monster and fires again. Yamcha, however, is much too quick and knocks her out with ease. Back with our heroes, Bulma asks Goku to fly up and see if he can find the dragonball. Goku calls Kintoun and goes off to look. He flies up to the castle and sees if he can get in. The heat proves too much for him however. Bulma and Oolong are waiting at the bottom, but are suddenly introduced the monstrously sized, ax wielding Guy-Mao.

Gyu-Mao immediately suspects them of trying to break into his castle, which, to be fair, is what they were doing. Goku returns to them he cannot get in and Gyu-Mao spots Kintoun and asks where he got it from. Goku tells him it was from Kame-Sennin and Gyu-Mao tells Goku that Kame-Sennin was his old master!
