Untitled: Part Three Of The Vixen Chronicles
Vixen blinked slightly. She had no idea where she was, and although the place around her was dark, she felt slightly blinded. ‘From what exactly?’ she wondered.
"Am I dead?" she asked herself out loud, relieved to hear her own voice.
"No, but you would of been had I not rescued you from your sorry state." Vixen froze at the sound of that oh so familiar voice.
"But why?" she whispered, before gaining her voice. "I killed myself for good reason, I didn’t want to live! Life is so lonely on this planet, why should I stay alive just to delay the inevitable??" She now demanded, feeling strength coming back to her, fuelled by the anger at having been saved when she really didn’t want to be this time.
"Because I could use you, and besides, you could use me."
"What do you mean??" Vixen asked, now confused.
"You know what I mean." Laughed an evil voice.
"No! I don’t!! What do you mean??" She growled, now standing up on unsteady feet. Her rescuer simply turned and walked away. "Hey, don’t just walk away from me!! Answer me!!" she demanded. All she got back was an evil laugh. She gritted her teeth in anger, before noticing the state of herself. Her stomach was suitably damaged, dried blood lining the wound, almost framing it, a bitter reminder of the mistakes she had made in that past week. "That better not scar." She muttered.
"Don’t worry, it won’t, it wasn’t as deep as that nasty cut Nappa gave you a few years back." He laughed more. "Don’t suppose you want revenge on him too??" She looked up, anger burning in her eyes at his mockery. "Wish I could hang around and chat, but I have to get back. Now stay here and heal, I'll come back sometime in the future to check you haven’t died." He walked to the edge of the cave.
"Goodbye little Zorroxian." And with that he took off. Vixen jumped up and ran to the edge of the cave, only to find herself teetering on the edge of a cliff. Vixen steadied herself before backing away. She sat down on the floor, in total despair. ‘Now what?’ she thought to herself ‘I am stuck in some cave, on the edge of a cliff, in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to do but wait for HIM, him of all people, to come back and rescue me." She sat and sulked, before picking up her sword, still stained with her own blood, and swinging it against the wall of the cave ."DAMN YOU VEGETA!!" she yelled in frustration before sitting back down to sulk. ‘Now what???’
Chapter one
Vegeta breezed in the door of Kakarot’s house. He was currently residing there whilst his house was being fumed for cockroaches (Vegeta had suggested just blowing it up, but Bulma eventually managed to persuade him otherwise).
"Where are you back from?" Bulma yelled from the front room, where she, Trunks, Goten, Goku and Chichi were sitting watching TV.
"Training! Must you question everything I do woman!" irritated at his wife’s curious nature.
"God! Sorry I asked." Bulma trod back into the room, slouching down on the couch next to Goku. "That man has such a bad temper." She grumbled. Goku shrugged, Vegeta didn’t seem any different than usual to him. Chichi glanced down at her watch.
"Honestly! If he expects to live with us while acting like this, he’ll never get fed. I told him what time dinner was." She placed her hands on her hips in frustration. "I suppose I had best go tell him to come get his food, although it is probably cold by now." Bulma stopped as images of Chichi yelling at Vegeta and then getting blown up flashed through her mind.
"You know what Chichi, stay seated. I’ll send Trunks up." She glanced at her son, who was playing on the floor with Goten. He sighed and slowly got up made his way up to his dad’s room, preparing to just dash in and dash out. Cautiously he knocked on the door. He heard his dad grumble, but not tell him to go away. This wasn’t such a bad sign. He edged the door open.
"Hey dad."
"What do you want brat??" Vegeta sat on a bed with his back to the door, not bothering to turn around and listen to his son speak. Trunks looked around him nervously, before planting his eyes firmly on the floor.
"Chichi just sent me up here to tell you that your dinner is on the table, but it is probably cold now." He paused, and looked up at his dad.
"Well isn’t that nice." Vegeta muttered, his back still to his son. Trunks stood for a couple more seconds, considering leaving, before a question popped into his head.
"Dad, where did you go today? You’ve been going out every day at the same time for nearly a week now. What are you doing?" Vegeta let out an irritated sigh.
"I already told your mother, I was training."
"That’s not true." Vegeta swung round, shooting his son an evil glare.
"And how do you come to that conclusion, boy?" He stared at Trunks, his words not seeming threatening, but coming from his mouth a deadly warning.
"Eerm… no reason, I was just guessing. Well I have to go now…. Umm… see you later… dad." Trunks dashed out the door, slamming it behind him. He let out a sigh of relief as he walked back down the stairs. He didn’t believe his dad for one moment. He didn’t know where his dad went everyday, but it was none of the usual training grounds. Trunks took the obvious answer, feeling he knew he was dad was lying, and was curious to know what he was doing. He crept back into the front room and sat down next to Goten. Tomorrow he would follow his dad.
The next morning Vegeta rose early. He showered briefly and wandered out the door, grabbing some miscellaneous food to bring along his journey. Unknown to him, Trunks had followed him, and was know creeping stealthily behind him, tracing his path in his trail. Little Trunks didn’t know where his dad was going, but he sure wanted to find out. As he followed his father through numerous hidden paths of trees, vines, rocks and rivers, he began to wonder if even his dad knew where he was going. Finally, they reached their destination. He saw his dad go into a cave, high up in the air, a crevice in the side of a cliff, hidden by unrealistically tall trees. He considered following, but decided instead to just hang around outside and listen closely. He could hear the low rumble of his dads voice, reverberating on the side of the cave. He could also hear someone responding to him. It sounded female, but not with a particularly high pitched voice. He recognised it, even though he was sure he had never heard it before. He floated longer, before tiring and settling down on the branch of a tree. As he observed the mouth of the cave, he realised there were flashes of energy coming from inside. Was his dad powering up?? He felt for energy levels. Indeed his dad was powering up, but he could also feel an extra power source. It was quite large too, though not as large as his fathers, but probably as large as his own, maybe even more so. He could now hear his dad yelling.
"Why won’t you fight harder woman!!??" Vegeta’s voice rang out. There was a sudden explosion inside the cave. Millions of rock particles were sent flying into the open air.
"AAAAAAAAGGGHHHHH!!!" came a pained scream from the unknown voice Trunks had heard earlier. There were some more flashes, before he heard his dad groan as he himself was flung against the wall of the cave. Silence followed, and power levels went down.
"Well little rodent, you aren’t as weak as you seem. But you will have to do better than that if you want much more of my help." His dad flew outside the cave and hung in the air, still talking. Instinctively, Trunks hid behind the tree, and watched his dad fly away. Slowly he crept forward, until he reached the mouth of the cave, and looked inside. He gasped in shock as he realised he had met the creature that was dwelling in the cave before, but if she remembered him was a different story.
Vixen sat on the ground muttering to herself. Vegeta had brought her some food, but not enough meat for her own liking. She pouted. If only she could escape from this cave, but it seemed impossible. She knew not how to fly for long periods of time, although she could float occasionally, nor was she strong enough yet to make her own way out of this place. Upon further consideration it wasn’t too bad here. The sunlight didn’t reach very far in at all, and it was quite spacious. Plus Vegeta was trying to train her, well if that’s what you could call it. More like ritual torture. She sighed again, concentrating on picking at the bread in front of her. As she felt for the energy levels of animals nearby, that maybe she could kill, when she felt something very peculiar nearby. Without moving her head, she looked up. There was definitely something watching her. It felt too strong to be a human or an animal. She concentrated on the ground in front of her, before raising a hand in the air, and beckoning with her fingers.
As Trunks peeked over the edge of the cave, he noticed a slight change in the girl. Her concentration seemed more precise. He was in the process of trying to figure out hat she was thinking so hard about, when he felt himself being lifted up ,and ultimately floating towards the creature in front of him. He wasn’t paralysed, but he still couldn’t change the direction in which he was floating, perhaps this effect was aided by his shock. He felt himself lowered in front of the creature. He stood stock still, watching the life form in front of him. And then she stood up. Trunks resisted all urges of fear. She stood at a height much taller than his own ,or his dads for that matter, and looked almost taller than Kakarot. The girl stood in that looming position for a bit longer, before sweeping some scarlet hair from her face, tossing it over her shoulder. She looked up, revealing two large black eyes, and looked young Trunks up and down, as if reviewing him. Trunks still stood, not quite sure of what to do. Finally, she spoke.
"Well, aren’t you going to introduce yourself, young Saiyan prince, or should I take first honours." Trunks gulped. Who was she?
Chapter Two
"Who are you???" Trunks asked, still suspended in front of Vixen. "You seem to know who I am, and are a friend of my fathers." Vixen turned away. Friend? That she wasn’t. She was a slave in some ways, a trainee in others, but not a friend. She turned round to face the young boy, a slight shiver going through her spine as she felt his Saiyan power.
"My name is Vixen, and I am from an extinct race, the Zorroxians. Your people, who now are long gone too, destroyed my home planet Thorro, and I was the only survivor." Trunks stared at Vixen, and quietly whispered a reply.
"You have no family?"
"No." Trunks shook his head. How must it feel to be totally alone. Vixen watched his reactions.
"Don’t pity me, young Saiyan. I don’t deserve pity for what I have done in the past." She lowered Trunks to the ground, allowing him to balance on his own two feet again.
"What have you done?" Vixen raised an eyebrow.
"You don’t know? Did Kakarot not tell you?"
"Tell me what?" Vixen sat down on the ground.
"Don’t worry." ‘What he doesn’t know won’t harm him.’ She thought to herself. "So, I have introduced myself, now won’t you introduce yourself to me. Trunks almost slapped himself. Where were his manners??
"My name is Trunks Briefs, son of the mighty Saiyan prince Vegeta" He held out an unsteady hand, unsure of the way to greet such a creature. "Pleased to meet you." Vixen took his hand in his own, and kissed it gently.
"Pleased to meet you." She smiled. Trunks stood still, now unsure of what to do. He had found out what his father was doing, and now he should be going. Right? He started to walk away.
"Wait!" Vixen said. Trunks turned around, surprised. "Please don’t go just yet. Perhaps you can stay a little longer. It’s just, when I am up here, all alone, I feel. I feel…" Vixen faltered, unable to say it.
"Lonely?" Trunks asked. Vixen nodded, still not able to bring herself to admit such a thing. Trunk walked back. "Sure I’ll stay." Vixen smiled. He wasn’t scared of her. He wasn’t trying to get away, but he wasn’t planning to use her. Was this the beginning of a friendship.. She was already happy at the prospect.
Vegeta walked back into Kakarot’s house. He couldn’t wait to get back to his own, where he wouldn’t have to put up with Kakarot’s infernal happiness. Although, Kakarot’s mate Chichi was a much better cook than Bulma. He opened the door, pondering if this was a good reason to stay.
"Vegeta!! Thank God! Have you seen Trunks? He’s been missing for 6 hours!"
"Did you take him with you Vegeta??"
"Gohan has no idea where he is either!!"
"Oh I hope he is ok."
"Vegeta, why aren’t you talking??!!" Vegeta took a step back and shut the door again. Suddenly he remembered. He had thought he sensed someone following him, but he had no idea it was the brat. He grimaced in annoyance, and blasted of into the sky. His speed increased as he remembered Trunks whereabouts. He could only hope that Vixen girl was as weak as she acted.
"You want to spar with me?" Vixen laughed. Trunks pulled an defendant face.
"And why not?" Vixen laughed out loud.
"I don’t really use the same fighting methods as Saiyans do."
"But we could still try and fight, it would be good training for both of us." Vixen laughed again. "Why are you laughing??" Trunks said, getting angry at his apparent inability to see the joke. Vixen sighed.
"Fine, I’ll fight with you for a little, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. I like to play rough."
"Bring it on." Trunks mocked. Vixen started to power up, as did Trunks. Just at that moment, Vegeta landed inside the cave.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING??" He yelled, causing both of the fighters to stop and look at him. "TRUNKS! How dare you follow me!! What were you thinking??" Vegeta stormed over to his now terrified son, and grabbed him by his wrist, yanking his arm hard and pulling him into the air. Trunks shook in fear.
"Wait! stop!" Vixen yelled, running towards Vegeta. He looked up, his eyes burning with anger.
"Stay back rodent!" he fired a powerful ki blast, knocking Vixen back against the wall.
"Well!! Speak up!" Vegeta threw his son down onto the floor of the cave, causing him to wince in pain. Trunks stayed silent, fighting back tears of pain and annoyance. Why did he always do this?? "Why aren’t you talking!?" he yelled, kicking his son in the stomach. Vixen looked up, just in time to see this.
"NO!!" she screamed. Vegeta ignored her, as he picked up his son again. "Leave him alone!" Vixen commanded, still being ignored by the Saiyan in front of her. "I said leave him alone!!" She screamed, her eyes turning that murky white colour, just as they had in that previous fight with Goku. She pointed at Vegeta, who suddenly felt himself unable to move, once again dropping Trunks to the ground. "I told you to leave him alone!" she screamed, she threw her hand apart, causing Vegeta to fly into the cave wall, for a moment he lay suspended there, before screaming in pain at some internal attack Vixen was inflicting on his body. He fell to the ground, and rolled over, the attack stopping. Vixen’s eyes went back to their normal shade. She was shaking in fear. Trunks ran over to his father, who’s face was bleeding from three parallel cuts, as if a clawed hand had struck his face with its talons. He groaned in agony. Vixen still stood shaking, unable to look Trunks in the eyes.
"I’m sorry." She said, wiping away tears. "I didn’t mean to." Trunks shook his head in amazement and disbelief. What had just happened? Vixen ran past him, to the edge of the cave, before taking a giant leap. Trunks looked up, mouth wide open as images of her falling to her death flashed through her mind. Suddenly, an odd sound echoed through the cave, and to his amazement, Vixen rose into the air, wings seeming to have sprouted from her shoulder blades. She flew away, leaving Trunks with his father, who was also watching the bizarre turn of events.
"DAMN HER!" Vegeta yelled, causing Trunks to jump. "I knew she was holding out on me." He stood up, wobbling slightly as he did. "Well, she isn’t getting away that easy." He started to laugh maniacally. Vegeta ran out of the cave, and shot off after her. Trunks shrugged his shoulders, and pursued his father, joining the chase to protect his friend, unsure of which one.
Chapter Three
Vixen landed softly into a small grassy clearing. She sat down on a small boulder, breathing heavily, not from exhaustion of her attack on Vegeta, but from pure adrenaline. What had just happened? She knew she had probably just lost her new friend, but something odd had happened. She had flown. But how? She couldn’t concentrate long enough to lift herself into the air. She sat thinking, and then became aware of a sound, it was like a fluttering, a million butterflies following her around. She glanced over her shoulders. Nothing there but her wings. She turned back round to get on with her thinking.
"WHAT??" she yelped. ‘Wings?? What the hell was going on here??’ she tried to take a look at her wings, but discovered the fact that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t turn her head 180 degrees. All she could see were a mass of feathers. In desperation, she looked for a mirror. Her first guess was her sword, which she pulled out from where it had been painfully hanging, chaffing her newly formed wings, but succeeded in only seeing her eyes. Frustrated, she surveyed her surroundings. Around her were many trees, thick with vines and leaves, and on one side of her, a large boulder, at least five times the size of herself, blocking what might of once been an exit. A beautiful, almost idyllic waterfall cascaded down the stone, causing a pool of water to form below, which she decided could be used perfectly as a mirror. She leant over and looked at her reflection. Her wings were feathered, like that of a stereotypical Earth angel, but the feathers were black and silver, as opposed to the white or gold so commonly used. She laughed slightly at the total opposite she was portraying. But her laughter didn’t last very long, as two things came to her attention. Number one: She was in great pain, not only from the Ki blast Vegeta had shot at her, but also around her shoulder blades, where her miraculous wings had appeared. She brushed her hair out the way and attempted a look. Yep, the base of her wings were bloodied and sore. Not as perfect as she had first thought. The second thing that occurred to her, was the energy that had suddenly appeared from nowhere. She glanced around her, eyeing all the trees suspiciously. Anything could hide with ease in these surroundings.
"Thought you could run didn’t you." Vegeta’s voice echoed softly throughout the trees, causing Vixen to jump into a fighting stance. She stayed focused, and picked up her sword in front of her. Vegeta wanted to fight, then they could fight. She chuckled slightly as more thoughts fluttered through her mind, her mood lightening incredibly. She heard a rustling in some nearby trees. She leapt over and pulled the branches aside. ‘Nothing??’
"BOO!" Vegeta appeared above her and delivered a kick to her face.
"OW!" she yelped "What was that for??" He jumped down next to her.
"That was for throwing me against a wall. This - " He delivered a sharp knee to her stomach. "Is for holding out on me." Vixen groaned in pain, before getting a playful glint in her eyes.
"Yeah?" she asked. "Well this - " and she pulled his hair very, very hard "is for throwing me against the wall." Vegeta jumped back and glared at her.
"What kind of girly attack was that?" he yelled. Vixen giggled,
"I am a girl, or do I need to show you that some other way?" she then grabbed his arm, and threw him into the air. Vegeta stopped about ten feet in the air, and looked down at her confused.
"Why are you playing games with me. I don’t play games!" Vixen laughed a little, before lifting into the air, next to him.
"Because I like you. You did me a big favour." Vegeta looked even more confused.
"And what was that exactly."
"You made me jump of the cliff, and involuntarily grow wings."
"You didn’t know you had wings?" Vegeta asked, amazed at this girls lack of knowledge on her own race. "You didn’t know that all Zorroxians had wings?" Now it was Vixens turn to look confused.
"Um, no. And you did?" Vegeta smirked, feeling fully aware of his superior knowledge.
"Of course I did. The Saiyans usually researched planets before invading them." Vixen grinned. Maybe she could learn more than just fighting skills from him.
"Well, either way, I thank you." She leant down and kissed him on the cheek, causing the Saiyan prince to blush. "now.." she said thoughtfully. "What are we going to do?" Vegeta eyed her suspiciously. She had a glint in her eye similar to that of his own.
Meanwhile, Trunks had been watching this whole charade, and decided to jump in.
"How about you explain things to us dad." Trunks said. Vixen jumped at the sound of his voice, suddenly becoming aware of the fact that a few moments ago she had damaged his dad, but a couple of minutes later kissed him. She looked away, embarrassment and shame turning her cheeks a similar colour to her hair. "I think Vixen deserves to know as much as I do." She looked up at the boy. He didn’t show any hate towards her. He wasn’t even mad at her. Vegeta sighed in annoyance and floated down to the ground, along with Trunks and Vixen. Vegeta sat down, and the others listened to his brief explanation.
"I remember when I talked to you that first time Vixen, I knew many things about your race that even now I can’t admit. You know what I am talking about, and I am sworn to secrecy." Vixen grinned as she remembered why he was sworn to secrecy. Vegeta continued. "I also knew that your race used to be very strong fighters, but had lost the art over centuries. And when Kakarot limped into the house, half dead, and proclaimed you to have killed yourself, I had to go and find out if it was true. And when I arrived, and discovered your half dead carcass, I thought of what a waste it would be to see all that hidden power die right then and there. So I saved you." Vixen looked at Vegeta.
"Bu why did you need that power? You are in a fighting team stronger than any I’ve ever known." Vegeta shook his head.
"Evil is always lurking, and every time stronger than before. And now that many of us have families" he glanced at Trunks "we need to be as strong as possible. So I decided to train you. And look how much good it has done already. You are learning more about your past with every lesson." Vixen pulled an expression.
"You call beating me half to death training?"
"My methods appear to be working." Vixen looked around her, she was going to make a reply, but was interrupted by Trunks.
"Ok, so dad, I understand what is going on now, but why is Vixen out here by herself. I mean, now that I know, we can’t just leave her out here alone." Vegeta sighed in annoyance. Vixen looked around her. Had Kakarot forgiven her yet? Vegeta looked at his son, and then at Vixen, and then back to his son, who was giving him puppy eyes.
"Oh for God’s sake, she can come back with us, but don’t expect any favours from me for a while"
"YAY!" Trunks yelled, hugging Vixen, causing her to wince in pain, her wings still being tender. Vegeta flew into the air.
"WELL - hurry up." Vixen leapt up after him, as did Trunks.
"Now I only have two more questions" said Trunks
"And what are those?"
"How did you get wings Vixen??"
"Ask your dad?"
"Ummm…….."
"Never mind, ask me later."
"Ok then - dad?"
"What?"
"What is a snovel??" Vixen started to giggle.
"A what??"
"A snovel. Vixen said you read Roman snovels, and I want to know what a snovel is." Vegeta took a deep breath.
"YOU RAT!!" he yelled, but Vixen was well ahead of him, already flying as fast as she could.
"GET BACK HERE. I’LL KILL YOU WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU!!" Vixen laughed loudly, as Vegeta chased her through the air. Trunks shrugged in confusion, unaware of the joke going over his head.
"What did I say?"
Chapter Four
Vixen lay in bed, staring at the ceiling of her bedroom. Bulma, Vegeta and Trunks had all moved back into their own house, since it had been debugged. Over the past few days, she had made up with most of the people she’d met previously. This included Kakarot. She turned over and thought more about Kakarot. She could hardly face seeing him. It wasn’t through guilt of their previous encounters, she knew he had forgiven her, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to be cruel to him again, it was just, he reminded her so much of Raditz. It was as if whenever she looked into his eyes, she saw Raditz staring back. But she knew it wasn’t him, it was like a photograph. An image, but not the real thing. She turned back over to stare at the ceiling again. Over the past few days Vegeta had been teaching her a few things about her race and their skills. He was teaching her to control her powers, and to use her wings. This also meant she knew how make them disappear when she didn’t need them. Of course, the process of growing them, although fast, was painful, and she aimed only to do it when she really needed to. She put a hand over her shoulder blade. It was still sore, but otherwise there was no clue that she could summon these magical wings. She curled up on her bed. Maybe she was less lonely here, as even though she still couldn’t go out in the day, Bulma would keep her company in those hours, Trunks would be her friend, and Vegeta her trainer at night. All these things aside, she still longed for Raditz. She wiped away a silent tear from one eye, but let the other one roll down her cheek till it reached the pillow below her, wetting the cotton cover, sparkling for a moment before dulling into a damp patch. She was still empty inside.
Raditz was in Hell, and that is a fact, along with most other Saiyans, punished for their savage past. Unlike many of the creatures that roamed down there, Raditz had not completely lost his links with the other dimension. He watched over his brother Kakarot. He did not hate his brother as many would think. He was proud of him. He was proud to see Kakarot, or Goku as he insisted on being called, had not lost all of his Saiyan power. In fact he had gained it incredibly. He was the strongest being in the universe, and Raditz was proud to be family. Raditz had also been training, and although far from being as strong as his brother or his prince, was allot stronger than before. At this moment in time though, he was not watching his brother. In actual fact he was watching a young girl cry bitter tears, over him of all people. He had watched this girl for a while, and listened to her talk to him every night. He had grown close to her, watching over her as he did his brother, protective, feeling her pain. She was beautiful, not as tall as him, but very tall all the same, with long silky hair, and a feminine figure, and her eyes….. He had remembered her, he remembered when they first met. He had thought nothing of her then. He remembered thinking she was good looking, but at that time his instinct had told him not to approach her, to get rid of her. But now he knew. She had thought he had saved her life out of kindness. He let out a smile. Maybe subconsciously it was. Now he wished he could be with her, but the only way he could get close to her was as a ghost: but that was tricky to do, and not something that he would fully enjoy. He had tried talking to her in dreams before which was a beautiful experience, but never enough, and poor Vixen never knew if it was really him, or just another dream. He thought more about her. He remembered feeling her pain when she was trying to kill his brother. The panic that had come over him, but she didn’t. Her heart was more full of love than hate. And then the same panic when she had tried to kill herself, out of desperation. He knew the whole time she was thinking she would meet him in Hell, but had she ever really been that evil as to end up in this pit… it was an amazing stroke of luck that his Prince had come to save her. Raditz shook his mane of hair and looked away. He had duties to get to, and had no more time to think about her. Irritated he stood up. They would meet, he knew they would, but when…?? He flicked his tail in annoyance as he walked away from his thoughts. Soon… soon…
Vixen sat up, clutching her stomach, trying to rid her body of fear. Something strange had just happened. She wasn’t sure what, but something very strange…. ideas were flicking through her mind, but one was standing out.
"I can’t do that." She said out loud, not sure of who she was talking to. "It wouldn’t be right, and I’ve never tried" But as she looked around her, she realised nobody was objecting, not even herself in reality. Why hadn’t this idea struck her before. It wasn’t as if she’d never known about that ability, but somehow the idea of her being able to do it had never occurred to her. She stood up and made her way out of the room into the cold night air. It was in the early hours of the morning, everybody still in peaceful slumber, unaware of her presence. She felt the wind fly through her hair and stood up straight, preparing for what she was about to do
Trunks watched in fear through the window. What was Vixen doing? She was standing outside in the freezing cold but not even shivering. Her skin almost glowed in the moonlight, and there was something mystical about her. He was scared though. He just knew she was going to do something, and from the feeling he got it wasn’t something good. He watched in fear as her eyes started to turn that familiar cloudy white/silver colour. She started to whisper something, and her whole body seemed to be glowing a silver aura, her power surging. But why? Trunks started to shake. She was doing something bad, and she wasn’t going to stop. He ran out of his room.
"MUM!! DAD!! Please, come quick!" Vegeta stirred slightly in his sleep, but Bulma woke up straightaway. Trunks ran into their room and jumped onto their bed.
"What’s the matter Trunks?" Bulma asked, trying not to yawn.
"It’s Vixen! She, she.. there’s something really wrong, look outside." Trunks stuttered. Bulma glanced towards the window, only to gasp in shock as she saw the whole sky seemed to be glowing, a bright light being emitted from a source on the ground. Bulma turned round and shook Vegeta.
"What do you want woman?" he asked, attempting to bury his head into the pillow and block out the world around him, the late night training sessions with that Zorroxian female taking their toll on him..
"Vegeta, look outside!" Vegeta opened one eye and saw the light. He sat up and had a better look, but was still unable to see the source. Confused he got up and walked over to the window. For a second he stood still, watching Vixen, before something clicked in his mind. He run out the room, Trunks hot on his heels.
‘I hope my friend is ok." Trunks thought, the concern showing on his face.
‘I hope she isn’t doing what I think she is doing." Vegeta thought, his face emotionless.
Bulma still stood at the window. ‘I hope nobody gets hurt." She prayed, remembering the way she had seen Yamcha, Goku and even Vixen herself in the past. She just hoped this time would be different.
Chapter Five
Vixen stood in concentration. She had never done this before, and although it was clear in her mind, she was still nervous. Her power level was definitely growing, but she needed as much power as possible.
Vegeta ran outside, and ran towards Vixen, he stopped about a metre away from the girl, jumping back in pain.
"Dad, what’s wrong?" Trunks asked.
"She’s put up an energy force field, probably isn’t even aware that she’s done it." Vegeta cursed, rolling his hand into a fist.
"Why does she need a force field?" Trunks asked. Vegeta sighed.
"I’m not sure. I think she is doing an incantation of some sort, but I don’t know." Vegeta growled in annoyance. Trunks looked worried, her power level was over two million already, and she never went that high.
Vixen wasn’t even aware of the two Saiyans presence, the force field isolating her from everything around her. She started to talk out loud.
"Oh Goddess Luna I request of you to take my energy, to bring a soul back to this dimension for as long as my power will suffice."
Raditz stopped what he was doing. He felt an odd sensation, it was like the spirit plane he was on was being shaken around him. What was going on?
"Take my power, take my energy, bring him forth. Bring forth the Saiyan warrior Raditz and allow him time in this world." Vixen felt herself starting to shake, she felt energy being drained. She resisted the urge to scream in pain. Her energy was being drained, it had to be working
Vegeta’s eyes widened as just what she was doing dawned on him. He looked up in the sky, to see a shocking sight. The whole sky had turned silver, glowing like the moon. He grabbed Trunks and pulled him inside. The last thing they needed at the moment was an ouzaru transformation. As he and Trunks knelt by the window, he listened.
"Bring him before me, Goddess Luna. Allow his spirit to be on this dimension. I ask of you, I beg of you ,take my power as a sacrifice now! So mote it be!!" she felt herself weakening, and the world started to blacken in front of her, light dimming, a familiar nauseating feeling swimming over her head.
Raditz started to feel ill. His whole body seemed to be flickering with life, power embodying him, his whole world shaking. He clutched a hand to his head, the pain throbbing through his temples.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" Vixen screamed, the whole world around her shaking, then it happened.
Vegeta looked out the window and watched. The moonlight in the sky seemed to have shot down and embodied itself in Vixen. Strobes of bright silver light seemed to shoot from her body.
Vixen fell to the ground, hitting it hard. The light around her seemed to dim, until it was just like any other night. She tried to lift herself up, but couldn’t even summon the strength to do that. A strong grip came around her shoulders, and she felt herself being lifted up. Could it be? Could it really be him? She looked up into the face of Raditz, who seemed to be in a mixture of shock, confusion and happiness. She looked him in the eyes, still in disbelief that it was him. She took a deep breath.
"Lets get out of here." She whispered, before passing out in his arms. Raditz picked her up, draping her delicately over his muscular frame, and flew off into the night air.
*~*~*~*~*~*
Nearly a whole week had passed since Raditz had flown off with Vixen, and Trunks sat by the window, wondering where she was. He hoped she was ok with this stranger he had never seen before. Goku had claimed this man to be his brother. Trunks looked silently ahead, wondering how Vixen knew Goku’s brother, and why Goku’s brother was dead in the first place. If he had died, why didn’t Goku wish him back? Trunks still had allot to learn about Goku’s past. Bulma was also worried, for she wasn’t sure if going with Raditz was the best of ideas. She remembered Raditz as the bloodthirsty Saiyan who kidnapped Gohan, and tried to force Goku to kill people. Vegeta’s only concern was that he had wasted a whole month of training on some girl who would just disappear.
Vixen and Raditz sat together in a cave, far away from the towns and city’s. The moon shone down on the couples face, basking them in an eerie, but some how angelic glow. Vixen had her wings spread out, wrapped around both of them, and Raditz tail was wrapped tightly around her waist.
"I wish this lasted permanently." Vixen sighed, leaning against the strong Saiyan, her head resting on his shoulder.
"You mean me being alive?" Raditz asked. Vixen shook her head.
"Well yeah, but that’s not what I meant." Raditz glanced at her, confused slightly. "I mean the perfection." Vixen continued. "The almost bliss of being together with someone who I’ve loved for so many years, and then to discover, that it wasn’t any sort of illusion, that it was all real…… and that bliss can be found in perfection…." Vixen sighed
"But you know I’m not going to be here much longer." Raditz said, not able to look Vixen in the eye.
"Yeah, and you know I can only do that spell once in a lifetime. It’d probably kill me otherwise." She sighed again. Already she could feel some of her energy returning, just as Raditz could feel himself getting weaker.
"I’ll miss you…." Vixen whispered, trying to hide her tears. Raditz pulled her closer.
"I won’t be gone, I just won’t be here." He paused, realising nothing could hide the ugly fact this was probably their last living hours together. "I’ll miss you too." he whispered. And for their last waking hours together, the two figures just sat in the moonlight, until Vixen found herself sitting alone, the sensation of his tail round her waist still lingering. She stood up, and flew back to Vegeta’s home. She knew what she had to do.
Epilogue
"But I’ll miss you. We’ll all miss you." Said Trunks, as Vixen stood in front of him and his family.
"I know, and I will miss you too, but I can’t live with you forever. Besides, I live much better on my own." Vegeta narrowed his eye at her.
"What about all that training. Was that for nothing? Are you just going to leave?" Vixen looked away.
"I am not part of your group. But I will be there when you need me. And that is a promise." Vixen walked out the door and flew away, leaving the Saiyan Prince and his family once again in their normal life. She flew for hours on end, until she reached a remote spot of land, where Vegeta had told her and Trunks why he’d saved her. She sat down next to the waterfall and watched it.
"She knew." Vixen whispered to herself. ‘Bulma was aware that whole time. I could tell by the way she looked at me. She knew I was hiding the truth. But I couldn’t just say it. I couldn’t just tell them I was pregnant.’ She flopped down on the grass, feeling it’s soft touch against her cheek. "They’ll find out soon enough." She whispered to herself, before closing her eyes. She left a hand on her stomach, feeling for the new life inside her. ‘Perhaps Raditz hadn’t left me so alone after all.’ She smiled, before closing her eyes and drifting into blissful sleep. Maybe her life had only just begun.
