Book Two - The Brief and Son Clash
Chapter Six
"Oh my god!" Trunks crawled over to his girlfriend’s side. Her eyes were still open. He noticed that they didn’t have the sparkle of a child any longer. Just a blank expression. He quickly checked her pulse. "No..." He sobbed. Goten had already ran into the house to call someone that could help. They were all alone with Vixen. "No!" He rested his head against hers, and he held her hand. "Rini... You were everything to me!" He cried. "Why did she do this to you? Why? Does she have no heart at all? Please, Rini... Wake up! I know you’re still alive! Come on! Any second now, you’re going to wake up like you always do! Come on! Just wake up!" He exclaimed. "Please... Don’t leave me all alone..." He said. "I know you can!"
Rini wouldn’t wake up. Trunks layed there, by her side for hours.
"Give it a rest, little boy! She’s not waking up, ever again!" Said Vixen. Trunks got up to his feet.
"You killed my girlfriend... You heartless witch! You’ll never get away with this!" He screamed, running as fast as he could towards her. She put up her hand, and Trunks was thrown back by an invisible Ki barrier. He hit a tree, and fell to the ground. But, he wasn’t dead. He started to crawl back towards Vixen, but he couldn’t go any longer. He was too exhausted. "Rini..." He whispered.

"Gee, Snake Way is really boring!" Said Rini. She was looking around, at the endless space filled with yellow-orange clouds. "I’m almost there!" She squealed happily. "And I’ll be able to see Trunks again!" Rini had almost forgotten about her other Trunks who was still down with Vixen. When she reached Heaven, she started to run around. "Trunks! Trunks! Where are you?" She called, looking around. when she turned a corner, she saw Trunks sitting with Cinch. "TRUNKS!" She screamed, tackling him. They both fell to the ground, laughing and giggling.
"Rini! What are you doing here?"
"I’m dead, you goose!"
"Why? What happened?"
"I was killed."
"By who?"
"Vixen."
"Explain?"
"She’s a woman who wanted revenge on Kakarot for killing Raditz, even though Piccolo killed him."
"Whoa... What about Trunks?"
"What about him?" Trunks’ jaw dropped in shock. He backed away, taking Cinch with him.
"What’s happened to you? You don’t even care!"
"Why should I? I’m dead. I have you." She said. Trunks shut his eyes and shook his head.
"Rini... you aren’t being yourself." He said. Rini looked at him.
"What do you mean?"
"If you really love Trunks, then you would care that you’re away from him. I bet that he’s feeling pretty miserable without you right now." Said Trunks. He walked over to a certain cloud bank, and they opened up, allowing them to gaze upon the battlefield. Rini looked down.
"What? There’s nothing to see." She said.
"Look closer." He said. Rini squinted, and then she gasped.
"Oh my goodness!" She exclaimed. "He’s still down there... But... He doesn’t seem to be dead." She said.
"That’s because he’s not. He has the exact idea of what you have to do."
Rini looked puzzled. She lifted one eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" She asked. Trunks looked into her eyes.
"Rini... You have to live for those who love you." He explained.
"I still don’t understand..."
"What I’m saying is, you can’t stay in Heaven with me. You have family down there. People who love you. My family is up here." He said.
"Trunks..."
"Mom! C’mere for a moment!" He yelled. Bulma showed up, and he handed Cinch to her. She looked at Rini, smiled, and walked off. "Rini, you can’t stay with me. I belong here, and you belong there. You have to go back. By staying, you’re only throwing your life away. You have everything- Trunks, a mother, a father, family, and friends. You even have a son of your own. Rini, we’ll meet again someday. It’s your choice- Grow old with the man you love, or stay with me, and let him die alone." He said. Rini looked at him.
"I... I guess you’re right. I have everything down on Earth... and I’ll be back someday. Just let me say a few things to a few people, and then I’ll go back." She said. He smiled at her. She smiled back, and ran off.
"Raditz!" Yelled Rini. He turned around, and eyed her suspiciously.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"I’m your cousin. My name is Carratrini. You don’t know me." She said. He nodded.
"I know of you. I’ve just never seen you in person." He explained.
"Well, that’s okay. All right. Do you remember a young girl who you saved from being killed by Nappa a long time ago? In the cargo hold of your ship?" She asked. He searched his thoughts.
"Yes, I remember a young girl... Vixen?"
"Yes! Well, she’s the one who killed me. Do you know why?"
"No."
"She wanted revenge on Kakarot because she thought that he killed you. But it was Piccolo. I tried to tell her, but she wouldn’t listen." She explained.
"Really?"
"Yes. Raditz, she was in love with you."
"Really?"
"Uh-huh. I just thought that maybe she would feel better knowing that you know that she loves you. Maybe you should try to contact her somehow. Do you have a message?" She asked. Raditz nodded.
"Tell her that it was Piccolo who killed me, but she shouldn’t have to kill anyone. And tell her that I remember her, and now that I know she loves me, I... I loved her too. I just never got a chance to tell her." He said. "And send her my love." He said. Rini smiled, and hugged Raditz.
"Bye, Raditz. I’m glad I finally got to meet you." She said. "I need to go now. There’s some people I have to talk to." With that, she ran off.
Rini then went to Bulma. "Bulma, I just wanted to say that I wanted to thank you for teaching me everything I now about machines. Thanks a lot, mom." She said, hugging Bulma. "I have to go now. Trunks is waiting down on Earth." She said.
"Bye, Rini!" She called, waving.
Vegeta was next. "Dad, I know you don’t really think much of me- Or anyone else for that matter, but... I just wanted to say hello to you, because I never did when I was with your son. I hope you have a happy life in Heaven." She said. Vegeta just stood there, looking at the ground. "Dad... Is it all right... If... If I have a hug?" She asked. "Just one. I promise." She added. For once, Vegeta smiled, and she hugged him. "Bye, Dad." She said.
"Daddy!" She squealed, running up to Yamcha. He smiled.
"When did you find out? And what are you doing here?"
"Ask Trunks. He knows the whole story. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi, and I also wanted to say that I love you. I never got the chance to, since I was adopted. and I’m glad I got to see you- My real father. I’m staying with you guys in the past now... So I’m not with Dr. Twinkle and Spike anymore." Yamcha looked at her and smiled. He hugged her.
"You’ve grown up to be so beautiful, Carratrini." He said. "I hope you have a happy life." He said. Rini smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"I will, Daddy. I’ll be back someday- You’ll see. Just say hi to Mom for me when you see her, okay? Send my love."
"I will, Sweetheart." He said. Rini’s eyes were filling with tears, and she gave him one last hug.
"Bye, Daddy. I love you so much." She said, parting with him. He was also crying, as she walked off to find Trunks again.
"Well Rini, I guess this is it." Said Trunks. Rini looked up at him.
"Yeah... I guess it is." She said. All of the people she had just said bye to came to see her off. Rini quickly walked over to Bulma, and kissed her son on his forehead. "Bye, Cinch." She said, as she walked back over to her husband.
"Rini... I just wanted to let you know that I will always love you." He said.
"I know." She said, looking at the ground. She didn’t want Trunks to see she was crying.
"Hey... Don’t look like that..." He said, lifting her chin up with his finger. She looked into his eyes, and he looked into hers. He bent down, and kissed her. "I think you’d better go now." He said, his own eyes filling with tears.
"Yeah... I guess I’d better." She said, wiping her eye with her shirt. Rini turned to everyone. "Goodbye you guys. I’ll be back! I love you all!" She said. Rini put two fingers to her lips, kissed them, and extended her arm towards her parents. She gave one last wave, looked at Trunks, and continued back to Earth.

"You witch!" Yelled Trunks. "I hope you burn and toil in Hell!" He screamed, throwing useless punches. Vixen blocked them all.
"Stupid, stupid boy! Carratrini is dead, and now I’m almost satisfied. Only a few more people to kill. Including you." She said. "Hey, speaking of which, why don’t I just kill you right now? It’ll save some time!" She threw Trunks into the air, and took aim. After she shot the blast, she was knocked to the side, into the wall of Goten’s house.
"I don’t think so!" Vixen’s head stopped spinning for long enough to see who it was.
"Carratrini! You’re supposed to be dead!" She hissed, getting up. Rini jumped back.
"CELESTIAL COIL!" Golden coils slithered around Vixen, stopping her from moving. "Vixen, when I was in Heaven, I learned something. Just because you’re without someone, it doesn’t mean that you have to get revenge on anyone, or blame anyone. Grieving and crying changes nothing."
"What does that have to do with me?" She snarled, trying to wriggle free.
"Vixen, I talked to Raditz." She said. Vixen’s eyes grew wide, and she stopped thrashing. She stared at Rini. "He told me to tell you that he remembers you. And, that Kakarot didn’t kill him. Piccolo did. He doesn’t want you to kill anyone because he is dead."
"Is that all?"
"No. He said that he also loved you, but he never got a chance to tell you. He sends his love." She said calmly. Vixen stared at Rini again.
"Really?" She said between sobs.
"Yes."
As Vixen stood up, the coils disappeared. She started crying, and she looked to the sky.
"He said that he’ll try to contact you in some way. Most likely through your dreams." She said. Vixen’s sour expression turned into a gentle one. She bit her lower lip.
"Carratrini... Umm... Thank you."
"For...?"
"For telling me this. I’m very grateful. And, I want Trunks to have this." She handed her a small vial.
"What is it?"
"It’s a healing aid. Have Trunks drink that, and he’ll be healed in no time." She said. Rini walked up to Vixen after tightening the scarf on her head. She put out her hand.
"Goodbye, Vixen. May the good spirits keep you safe." She said. Vixen took Rini’s hand in hers.
"Thank you, Carratrini." With that, the two girls went their separate ways.
After a few months, everything was back to normal.
