A few weeks pass...

Nashi awoke to a tugging at her skirt and the sound of crying. She looked over and saw Mikan. He stood: shaking, pale, and weeping. Nashi sat up and took his hand. "Mikan, what happened?"

"Momma! He's coming! Frieza's coming and he's going to kill me!" he cried. Zarbon immediately woke up to the all too familiar name.

"What?" Nashi gasped. "Who told you that?" Mikan pointed to his head. Nashi looked at Zarbon. "Nobody would even dare to speak that name," she whispered. "How did this happen?"

"Momma!"

"I'm going to check it out," Zarbon said as he got up.

"Zarbon!" Nashi called. "Call Earth, or at least tell Piccolo."

Zarbon nodded and left the room. Nashi knelt down on the floor in front of Mikan. "Momma, he's coming. He's gonna get me!" he whimpered. Nashi took him in her arms.

"Shhh, no-one's going to get you. You're here, at home, safe with me. Nothing's going to hurt you." Nashi lifted her son and placed him on the bed and sat down next to him. "Go to sleep, sweetie. I'm here." Mikan held onto Nashi tightly as he fell back to sleep.

After a few hours, Nashi decided to take Mikan back to his room. She lifted him up and started to carry him down the hall. All of a sudden, he awoke with a start. Nashi put him down. Mikan looked up at her. "He's here," he whispered.

"What?" Nashi breathed. Suddenly, an explosion threw both of them into the opposite wall. Nashi shielded her son as bits of debris fell around them. She sat up and looked over her shoulder. Her heart stopped.

"Oh, my god..."

In the space which used to be the wall stood three whitish creatures - all three she knew. On her left was Cooler, to her right was King Cold - and in the middle stood Frieza, Cold's son and Cooler's brother. All three had cruel grins on their faces - they were laughing quietly at her. Nashi positioned herself in front of Mikan.

Frieza laughed aloud. "Well, isn't that cute?" He glanced at his brother. In a flash, Nashi found herself pinned in Cooler's embrace, his arms holding hers solidly to her chest. Frieza stood before Mikan.

"Aaahhh! Momma!" he cried. Just then Zarbon ran into the room. Cold looked over and in an instant held Zarbon pinned in a similar fashion to Nashi so that he couldn't move. "No! Frieza, you stay away from him!" Zarbon yelled.

"Heh," Frieza replied. He grabbed Mikan.

"No! Let me go!" Mikan protested.

"NO! Frieza, leave him alone!" Nashi screamed. She closed her eyes.

"What? Don't you want to watch?" Cooler wickedly whispered as he began to kiss and lick Nashi's neck.

Nashi felt sick as she muttered "No, let us go... please." A single tear ran down her cheek as she heard Frieza power up - and shoot a single blast. Cooler chuckled, a mix between a hiss and a purr, and continued with his pleasures.

"Frieza, no! Bakayarou!" Zarbon raged. Frieza glanced at him, then turned his attention to Nashi. He walked over and took her chin in his hand. She looked at him through tearstained eyes as he spoke.

"Hmm, you always were such a pretty girl..." He leaned in and kissed her as Cooler kept her from struggling. Her mouth was forced open as Frieza's tongue entered, probing the inside. Frieza broke away and leaned towards her ear.

"You know what would be rather amusing?" he whispered. Coola purred. Nashi was thrown to the ground and immediately held tight again by Cooler as Frieza knelt down at her feet. Nashi closed her eyes. Oh, gods, no...

"FRIEZA!" Zarbon hollered.

Frieza stood up and smiled. He watched his brother for a moment, as he continued to kiss the weeping Nashi, then walked towards the center of the room. He looked over to where Zarbon sat, still being restrained by King Cold, softly weeping.

Then, a bright light filled the room. Nashi opened her eyes and saw a boy with light purple hair. She watched as the boy challenged Frieza, infuriating him. Frieza called his family as they and the boy disappeared to the outside to find a suitable place to fight. Zarbon, freed from Cold's grasp, ran over to Nashi. She sat up and embraced him as if her life depended on it. Nashi buried her head in his shoulder as he tried to comfort her. "Shhh, oh, my god, I'm sorry. I couldn't do anything." He kissed her forehead. "Oh, my love - I'm sorry, I am so sorry," he whispered through tears. He held her shaking body as she continued to weep. Then, Nashi felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see the purple-haired boy.

"They're gone," he said.

"Are you sure?" Nashi whispered.

"Frieza got sliced, diced, and deep fried. He nor his father are coming back." With that, the boy stood up, walked out the door, and was gone. A number of Nashi and Zarbon's aids came running through the door to care for their king and queen. Nashi leaned into Zarbon's arms, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

A few weeks pass...

Nashi was sitting in bed reading when Zarbon entered the room. He walked over and sat down next to her, taking her in his arms. She leaned into his embrace as she put her hand on her stomach where a new life had begun to grow. Zarbon placed his hand over hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

Six months later...

Nashi lay in bed with two aids by her side. The two Kobitian twins stood out among their people - the presence of red in their hair was rare among their race. Around both of their necks they wore silver circular pendants, inscribed with ancient inscriptions, hung by a black cord. Akai and Sabi had been tending to their queen for the past six months of her illness. Since Frieza's attack, the child had grown little and seemed to be the cause of Nashi's sickness. Zarbon came into the room. Akai moved to the side as he sat down beside Nashi. He took the damp cloth that Akai had been using to cool Nashi's forehead and patted her brow with it. Nashi opened her eyes, looked at him, and smiled. Zarbon looked back with great concern in his eyes.

"Nashi, you can't do this - you're killing yourself."

"I'm going through with this, Zarbon. I won't get rid of the baby - it is my child," Nashi said.

Zarbon looked at her solemnly. He then sighed. "All right. But should it get any worse and we are forced to make a choice between you and the babe, you come first - you will live. I won't let you sacrifice yourself for it."

"Zarbon, I'll be fine." Nashi reached up and touched his cheek. "Trust me."

Four months pass...

Nashi lay, breathing heavily, exhausted, and drenched in sweat. She closed her eyes as someone wiped the moisture from her brow with a damp cloth. She looked up and saw it was Zarbon. She closed her eyes again - too tired to smile in relief that, after almost a year, it was finally over. Sabi came over and showed Nashi the bundle of cloth that held a small, white baby. She sighed and closed her eyes. "Kori," she whispered as she fell asleep.

A few days later...

Nashi gazed down at the little bed that held Kori. She brushed her hand over his head. He looks exactly like his father. she thought. It almost hurts me to look at him.

"You should be resting." Nashi turned as Zarbon came in the room.

"I'm fine," she said. Zarbon walked up, put his arm around her waist, and looked at Kori.

"I think I know why he caused you so much pain," he said, nodding at Kori. "I'll bet that he's a clone of Frieza. To your body, the babe was a foreign object, so your body tried to reject it - causing your illness." Zarbon paused, thinking. "The babe didn't die, but since it was constantly defending itself, it took longer to mature." Zarbon faced Nashi. "My love, you took a great risk for him," he admonished. Nashi looked at Zarbon.

"Zarbon, don't hate him. He is going to live a hard life. He will be judged simply because of his looks: he's different from anyone else here and he appears to the eye to be a physical duplicate of a notorious murderer. Even worse, he appears as if he's in his final and most powerful stage. Zarbon, he is an Innocent. He's but a child. He is my child."

Zarbon sighed. "I know."
