Final Fantasy XI marks a great departure from its predecessors. The Playstation 2 game will be a completely online massively-multiplayer game, possibly spanning multiple platforms.
Final Fantasy XI was announced with Final Fantasies IX and X. We know that it will be based online on the PS2, and users may have to pay a fee each time they play. Also, the game will be released simultaneously in both Japan and North America, with all users being part of the same online world.
