Part 437
Settling onto the couch beside AJ and Alison, Howie wrapped his arm around Sarah’s shoulder as she leaned against him, her hand on his thigh. He explained what had happened and the conversation then switched to Sarah’s CD.
"You know, when I was little, my friends and I use to sit around talking about what we would do if we ever become rich and famous," said Lynne. "Sarah, this is your big break. What are you going to do?"
"Sarah’s first month’s sales are going to Kellie and the girls," explained AJ.
"Then what? Are you FINALLY going to buy that horse you always wanted?" asked Alison.
Sarah laughed, "Unfortunately, I don’t have anywhere to put it. The condo isn’t exactly set up to have a horse. No, I think the first thing we’re gonna do is trade in the corvette for a family vehicle."
Kevin and AJ’s eyes cut to Howie when Sarah said this knowing full well that the corvette was his dream. It had been his ‘I’m finally there’ gift to himself.
"Whoa! We are NOT getting rid of the corvette, ‘Angel’."
"Howie, it doesn’t make sense to have the ‘vette with twins on the way. What are you going to do if something comes up and you have to pick them up or something and you’re on the corvette? There’s NO room for both of them AND Jesse."
"I’ll worry about that when it happens. You can get whatever you want but we’re NOT getting rid of the corvette."
Howie thought he had made it plain that he didn’t want to discuss it any further but Sarah persisted. "That makes even LESS sense, Howie. We barely drive the two we have. What are we going to do with THREE vehicles? Not to mention the money!"
The bus pulled into the park where they were going to be playing softball as Howie said, "Sarah, we can afford three vehicles…that’s the whole point of buying something because you’ve FINALLY made it and don’t have to worry about it."
"You are NOT like that and you know it!!"
"True, normally I’m NOT but I am NOT giving up my corvette. We can keep it for when you and I go out. Now get your sexy butt up so we can go play."
"Why are you being so stubborn?"
Howie had had enough and was growing extremely irritated with the whole line of conversation. "Sarah, yo’M no es terca pero nosotros no nos deshacemos de la Corbeta. El FIN DE DISUSSION. Ahora levante tan podemos bajarnos de este autobús condenado."
AJ offered Sarah a hand to get up as she said, "You can say it in Spanish all you want, Howard, but you ARE being stubborn and it’s NOT the end of the discussion."
Sarah started for the back of the bus and he said, "NOW where are you going?"
"To change my shirt! I wanna wear the shirt Tiffany gave me. Go on without me," called Sarah. Knowing full well that they could still hear her, she mumbled, "He thinks that saying it in Spanish is gonna make me drop it but I’m NOT."
Howie shook his head in frustration, "God, she’s gonna drive me crazy."
AJ nudged him, "Might as well give up. You’re gonna be getting rid of the corvette because you can NOT say ‘no’ to her."
"Yeah, ‘D’," chuckled Kevin. "She’ll give you that smile. You know the one she used on ME last night where she looks all sweet and innocent and you’ll cave."
Howie groaned knowing he didn’t stand a chance against her when she did that. "But this is MY corvette!! My baby!"
Ali offered some comfort. "You know, Howie. Sarah may compromise with you if you talk really sweet to her and you’ll be able to keep the corvette but it’s gonna take some really sweet talking."
Sarah reappeared wearing a purple and gray maternity shirt that had an angel on the front with ‘90% Angel’ written above it. She went to Howie and put her arms around him giving him a kiss and asked, "You like it?"
"Of course, but it should say 90% pain in the butt and 10% Angel," Howie teased. "You know, Nick is gonna jump on it as soon as he sees it."
"Yeah, so? You’ll make him stop. I love you."
Howie kissed her. "I love you too, Angel."
As the two got off the bus, Lynne looked at Kevin, "Weren’t they just arguing?"
Kevin laughed, "Not really. Just having a difference of opinion. Sarah isn’t gonna make him get rid of the corvette. She was just playing with him, like she did me this morning. It’s her way of keeping her mind off her morning sickness. You ready to face the crowd?"
"Sure…I think." Looking out the window, Lynne saw the crowd of reporters waiting for them and the other girls in the thick of it all with the guys. "If Sarah and Becca can do it, I guess I can too."
Kevin grinned, "Come on. Stick with me and I’ll help you. If you don’t like a question, you don’t have to answer it."
Kevin led Lynne off holding her hand tight in his and the fans singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him greeted them.
