Part 320
"What was he doing here?" Nick grumbled.
"He came to talk to me, Nick." Becca watched Nick pace around the dressing room with a frown on his face. "He wanted to apologize for everything that's happened."
"Swell," Nick mumbled, still not willing to give in.
"Nicky, please," Becca said gently. "What he had to say made a lot of sense. I know what he did and said yesterday was wrong, but Howie knows it too. There's a lot going on that you don't-"
"Don't what, Bec? Don't know about? Don't understand? I've known Howie for over half my life, Bec, and the things he said to me hurt." Garrett began to fuss and Nick moved to take him from his wife. "Hey, buddy," he smiled softly. "Wanna go sing with me tonight?"
"Nick! There is NO way I'd let you-" Becca tried to rise indignantly from the chair, but moved the wrong way and gasped in pain. "Shit," she spat, sitting back in a very undignified position. "Damn incision, hurts like a sonofabitch today."
"Colorful language, Bec, you kiss our son with that mouth?"
Becca blushed and turned her head. "See? This whole damn situation has me on edge Nick. I’m sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Baby, I was kidding. Relax!" Nick moved to stand by Becca and as he held the baby on one arm, reached down to tangle his fingers in her hair and pull her close. As she rested her head against his hip, she sighed.
"Nick, you need to talk to Howie."
"You need to talk to Sarah."
"I will if you will."
"Not tonight, Bec."
"Nick-"
"I will, Bec, I promise, but tonight I just wanta be with you and GT."
Becca giggled. "Oh boy, a romantic evening … just the three of us on a bus."
"I can be romantic on a bus," Nick smirked.
"So I remember," Becca retorted with a grin.
Nick leaned down to plant a quick kiss on her mouth. "Hold that thought, Bec."
"Sure," she snorted, "for about four and a half more weeks."
Nick handed the baby back to her and quipped, "I'm worth it, baby." Laughing hysterically, he ducked the receiving blanket she tried to throw at him and slipped out the door into the hallway of the arena.
