Operaman's Stangs

My first Mustang.

It's a 2001 3.8L w/5-speed manual transmission.

"ERLKNG" (Pronounced "Earl King") actually stands for Erlkönig. Found in german legend and lore, the Erlkönig is the black rider of death, an unholy spectre who rides by the shadows of the night and is veiled by mist. The Erlkönig rides for the souls of anyone who is out wandering through his dark forest (especially if they drive an import).

I'm not putting any body kit or spoilers on it and the like, I think the car looks beautiful as is. Plus I don't have to worry as much about the cops harassing me, it's bad enough already.

POWER

My first dyno test was with MAC c/a intake, MAC headers, Steeda crank pulley, and a Borla dual exhaust to which I dyno'd at the tune of 187.0 RWHP and 213.6 lb-ft torque which is pretty damn good. The stock V-6 has 190 BHP and 220 lb-ft torque (at the crank) so I am pretty happy being able to get that power to the wheels by just letting her breathe a little. My best ET with that power was 15.420s at 90.06MPH with a 2.321s 60'.

My dyno is simply all screwed up...I have gone through two chips and I have been unable to get the speed limiter removed (115mph) or the rev limiter raised from 5,500 to 6,400rpms. And those stupid IMRC's open up too quickly, if they stayed closed until 4,200rpms then the torque and horsepower would not drop off a cliff like it does at 3,300rpms. There is so much potential for power in this stupid engine but I haven't talked with anyone who has figured out how to really properly tune the stupid computer.

My goal is to run 13.9s naturally aspirated. If I can run 14.4s/14.5s then I will go nuts with forged dished pistons and rods, getting a 3.8L .030 over-bore, and dropping weight out of the car so that I can get the 13.9s naturally aspirated. But if I am running high 14's then I will focus my energy on saving up for a power adder. My goal for this car all along has been for it to be a track car, superb handling (equal to none) with enough power to raise a few skirts. Which is really all you can hope for with a v-6.

Some of you may be thinking, "Gee, this sure is a lot of money for a v-6", other people just don't get car nuts like me. But there is perfectly good explanation for all this... well... maybe not perfectly good... but there IS an explanation... I'm sure of it...
