dark nights are cause for ever longer shadows
with creaks and groans in each corner
a child's fears manifest themselves all around
a dolly cries "come out and play."
when the dark realm rules and the toys are possessed
the beast under the bed returns
as this child lies helplessly in her nightmares,
the dolly cries "come out and play."
