A Zalaegerszeg tegnap esti sikere után ismét a magyarokról beszél a futballvilág. Hogy ez a számunkra fantasztikus diadalt jelentő eredmény mennyire világraszóló, azt jól bizonyítja, hogy a világ jelentős sajtóorgánumai is szenzációként tesznek említést róla.
A CNN például sportrovata élén közli a diadalt: "A Manchester egy sokkoló vereségbe szaladt bele Magyarországon. Az este legnagyobb meglepetését szolgáltatta a Zalaegerszeg, azzal, hogy legyőzte a hatalmas Manchester Unitedet. – olvashatjuk a világ legnagyobb hírtelevíziójának honlapján.
A Zalaegerszeg K.O.-val kiütötte a Unitedet – írja az olasz Datasport, hozzátéve, hogy az est hőse nem David Beckham, hanem Koplárovics Béla volt, igaz, ők Kaplanovicsról beszélnek, de nézzük el nekik ezt ezegyszer, hiszen szerencséjükre nem olasz csapat volt tegnap este a Zete vendége.
Velük szemben az angolok jól az eszükbe véshették a gólszerző nevét. A BBC viszonylag nagy terjedelemben számolt be a Vörös Ördögök vereségéről, akik ellen "egy teljesen esélytelennek hitt kiscsapat világraszóló sikert ért el”. A cikk kiemeli, hogy az angolok ugyan több helyzetet dolgoztak ki, ám azokat sorozatban elpuskázták, és összességében képtelenek voltak ellenfelük fölé nőni. Két hét múlva jóval többet kell mutatni az Old Traffordon, ha a United tovább akar lépni a csoportkörbe”. A kapott gólt a cikk egyértelműen Phil Neville nyakába varrja, aki miatt passzolhatott Molnár Balázs a gólpasszt adó Szamosihoz. Magyar részről még Vincze Ottót említik, aki 25 méteres bombájával tette le névjegyét.
"A Zalaegerszeg a legédesebb óráit éli”. Ezzel a főcímmel tárgyalja az UEFA honlapja a tegnapi mérkőzést. Az írás eufórikus ünneplésről számol be, amelyet Koplárovics Béla egy klasszikus kontratámadás végén született találata indított el. A szerző dicséri a Zalaegerszeget, hogy nem hagyta magát megfélemlíteni nagynevű ellenfelétől, és a középpályán sokkal inkább ők irányították a játékot. Külön kiemeli Kenesei Krisztián és Darko Ljubojevics "ragyogó formáját”, akikkel a munkabírást, valamint a passzokat tekintve, nem volt képes felvenni a lépést sem Roy Keane, sem Juan Sebastian Veron.
A különböző angol lapok egyaránt katasztrofálisnak ítélik a tegnapi eredményt, és főleg a United játékát. Néhány idézet a szigetországon megjelenő lapok hasábjairól:
Daily Star: "Alex Ferguson Manchesterét megszégyenítették Magyarországon! Nem úgy tűnt, mintha valaha is át tudtak volna törni a fürge magyarokon.”
The Sun: "Alex Fergusont sokkolta játékosai irtózatos produkciója Budapesten!”
Daily Mirror: "Ferguson legszörnyűbb rémálmai elé néz, ha csapata nem javul fel a visszavágóra.”
Nézzük ezek után magát az érintettet, hogyan éli meg a kudarcot a Manchester United? A jeles csapat honlapján leginkább a vereség okait keresik, amelyet a szezon eleji formának, a pálya göröngyös talajának és hasonló okoknak tulajdonítanak, de megemlítik azt is, hogy a Zalaegerszeg rendkívül szimpatikusan küzdött, és főleg a második félidőben remekül megszervezte a védekezését, amelyet a vörösök nem tudtak áttörni.
A legérdekesebb visszhang "természetesen” az angolok ősi riválisától, a németektől érkezett. A Sat1 televízió teletextjén a következő olvasható: "Blamálta magát a Manchester! Koplárovics Béla ezen az estén elhomályosította David Beckhamet, Ruud Van Nistelrooyt, és Juan Sebastian Veront. Milyen Béla? Kérdezne Ön vissza. Nos a magyar meglepetésbajnok fiatal cserejátékosa az utolsó percben "aranygóllal” mattolta a Manchestert!”
A kritikusok azonban egy dologban egyetértenek, mégpedig abban, hogy a továbbjutás két hét múlva fog eldőlni. Valljuk meg, ebben mi is biztosak vagyunk…,de miért ne hívhatnák a szerencsést Zalaegerszegnek?

Ferguson blames pitch, tactics for Man Utd loss in Hungary

LONDON (AP) -- So much for the early season talk about Manchester United winning this season's Champions League.
After Wednesday's 1-0 loss in Budapest to provincial Hungarian side Zalaegerszeg, there's a chance the Reds won't even qualify for Europe's most prestigious club tournament.
The loss in the third qualifying round, first-leg match means Man Utd must score at least two goals more than the Hungarians in two weeks in the return leg in England or fail to qualify.
What seemed unthinkable Wednesday seemed possible Thursday. It is bound to send the jitters through a side that finished only third last season in the Premier League despite some of the most extravagant spending in world soccer.
The No. 2 favorite behind defending champion Real Madrid to win the 2002-2003 competition was listed at 11-4 by bookmakers William Hill to be knocked out by the Hungarians before the full-blown Champions League begins next month.
What was meant to be a pleasant stroll Wednesday turned into an embarrassment as a defensive error allowed substitute Bela Koplarovics to score the winning goal in injury time.
The back pages of Britain's newspapers Thursday showed midfielder David Beckham pouting in disappointment and manager Alex Ferguson with his hand on his head nursing a look of despair.
"Fergie in shock as Reds get a hiding," The Sun read. "Incredible sulks," added the Mirror. "Hungary Horror," said The Express.
The Daily Telegraph said the club was "out thought and out fought."
"United, so often imbued with collective endeavor, were alarmingly less than the sum of their considerable and very expensive parts," it read.
United begin its Premier League season Saturday against West Bromwich Albion, which was promoted after finishing second in the first-division last season.
Failing to make the group stages of the Champions League, where it was a semifinalist last season and the champion in 1999, would cost United 10 million pounds (US$15.3 million).
Zalaegerszeg coach Peter Bozsik said Thursday his team's chances of making the next stage had increased.
"We've tweaked the lion's whiskers so we can expect a tough match in Manchester," Bozsik told Hungarian television.
"I'm proud of my players who I told to be proud of themselves before they went out onto the pitch and not to lose confidence in themselves."
Most Hungarian dailies carried news of the victory on their front pages with the Magyar Hirlap saying "ZTE produces explosive surprise" and the Nepszabadsag daily offering "ZTE Wonderful."
United blamed the pitch, the swirling wind and the referee. A day later, captain Roy Keane said the team should blame itself.
"It was a bad, bad goal to give away -- we had possession before the free kick, and it was a soft goal," Keane said.
"But we are all in it together and just have to make sure we put it right in a couple of weeks. I can't imagine us not qualifying, but it will be hard work for 90 minutes now."
Man Utd manager offers reasons for upset
MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) -- Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has blamed the state of the pitch and a change in Zalaegerszeg's tactics for their shock 1-0 defeat in a Champions League qualifier.
United, who won the competition in 1999, went down to an injury-time strike from substitute Bela Koplarovics.
"It's a shock result in the sense that they never had a kick of the ball in the second half," Ferguson told the club's Web site after the game.
"That's a surprise -- one attack, one goal. But we've only ourselves to blame, we had some good chances."
But aside from United's finishing, having dominated the match, hit the post and also had a goal disallowed, Ferguson pointed to other reasons for the upset.
"The pitch was very bumpy, we'd have to make that a possible reason for the standard of our passing. It's disappointing," he said.
"They changed their system, but that's the only thing. They played five at the back and allowed us all the possession.
"But we should break that down, we've played against that many times."
Aside from the embarrassment of the result, United also had defender Wes Brown carried off on a stretcher with a serious ankle injury. He was due to have a scan on Thursday.
"It's an ankle injury, quite a bad one," Ferguson said.
Although United remain clear favorites to qualify for the group phase of the competition after the second leg at Old Trafford in a fortnight's time, failure to do so will leave them with only a UEFA Cup place this season.
Keane convinced United will still qualify
MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) -- A defiant Roy Keane has dismissed fears that Manchester United will not qualify for the lucrative group stages of the Champions League.
"I can't imagine us not qualifying, but it will boil down to hard work for 90 minutes," Keane told the Manchester Evening News.
"It would have been nice to get an away goal, but we didn't and it's up to the players to put that right. We have a second chance in a couple of weeks and hopefully we can make up for it then.
"They played okay, but it's up to our players now. If we play well on the night -- no matter who we are playing -- we will win."
