Lands of Lore III
Your guide to Skills, Guilds and Familiars
There are general skills you will own your own (they are listed
at the bottom of the page); you begin the game with the Basic Skills and acquire
the Advanced Skills once you reach a certain level. The other skills you acquire
will come to you after you join a Guild. Guilds are the learning centers of
Gladstone. Each guild teaches certain skills that will benefit you in your quests.
They also have great shops. Each guild have its own initial membership requirements,
and also have different layers of membership, each layer grating additional
skills and options, but requiring additional tasks- see the very bottom of the
Walkthrough for Quest details.
You can join as many guilds as you like; however, as you gain
experience it will be split among all the guilds that you are a member of. If
you decide to join only one guild, you will receive an experience bonus and
your skill levels will increase more rapidly (since it is not being split among
several guilds). So it's best to join one Guild, reach a certain level, then
join your next Guild, so it won't take as long to increase your skill levels.
Each guild also offers a familiar, a sort of side kick. They
assist you in your travels throughout the Lands. Each Familiar has their own
set of skills and abilities. It's best to accept a familiar from a Guild that
you are not apart of, this way your familiar can aid you with skills that you
lack. Once you accept a familiar, you cannot give it back, so choose wisely.
There are 3 official guilds in Upper Gladstone, and 1 unofficial
guild in the Gladstone Sewers:
The Iron Ring: Warriors Guild
This is the Warriors Guild- if you don't like using magic, this is the guild
of your choice. The Iron Ring is responsible for maintaining the Gladstone Guard.
It is the primary source for armor and weapons in Gladstone. It has also been
able to keep a strong hold on the distribution of weapons in the kingdom by requiring
Guild membership from potential buyers. The Warriors Guild is clearly the organization
with the largest body of membership in Gladstone. Most members are either guards,
member of the army, or mercenaries. The Warriors Guild members are the strongest
weapon users in Gladstone.

The Talamari- Mages Guild:
Magic is the word here. They offer some powerful spells that allow you to
take out enemies from distance without having to worry about getting close to
them. Although possessing the least number of members, the Talamari is by far
the most powerful and influential Guild in Gladstone. Headed by the Mystic Dawn,
the Talamari was teh first Guild established after the Dark Amy wars. The Mages
Guild is the primary source for Grimores and scrolls in Gladstone. Members of
the Mages Guild are without dispute the best spell casters in Gladstone.

Order of the Finch: Clerics Guild
The Cleric has a strict code. You may not kill and you must respect the laws
of the Guild. This is the healing guild, you will be able to heal and protect
yourself. The Order of the Finch has existed as a monastic order in the Lands
for centuries. Some suspect that they, in fact, founded the monarchy of Gladstone
itself. Their tenants focus on freedom of though and responsibility of action.
Their healing and restorative talents are unmatched in the Lands. The Cleric
Guild members are excellent healers, and although they are not as strong as
the others are in either weaponry or spell casting, the Clerics Guild is considered

The Bacchanal: Thieves Guild
If stealing, sneaking and poisoning is your way, then choose the Thieves
Guild. Located in the Lower Gladstone Sewers, the Thieves Guild is not really
a Guild at all. A band of thieves and assassins, this motley crew has structured
itself as a mockery of their Upper Gladstone counterparts. The idea of membership
is shaky at best, and advancement is often found through shady and covert means.
Invaluable to the socially entrepreneurial, this Guild is the only source in
Gladstone for poisons, recipes, and other questionable materials and weapons.
They also run the only shop in town that will deal with any sort of trade.
Guild Rankings & Abilities:
- Tinker:
Steal. This ability allows you to steal from people and shops. You
have a bigger chance of stealing when your victim doesn't look. You can
try this in shops, but you risk you won't be able to buy anything else in
the future if the shopkeeper catches you. Simply place the item in your
inventory and walk out.
Backstab. You can do serious damage with backstab. This means you
take out someone from behind. The protection of the victim will be halved
if you perform this.
Pick Lock. Each lock has a certain level (how strong or how difficult
the lock is). If you're guild level rank is equal or higher to the lock's
level, you can open it.

to take out enemies with only one hit, once you learn of their weak spot.
