Just A Moon-Beam
by Alcia C r nelia
Fears Pepper
In the stillness of the night-time
While the world is wrapped in sleep,
I’m a moon-beam ever searching,
Chasing darkness, grim and deep.
I might have been a mountain
With my lofty, snowy cap,
And my shadow slowly creeping
O’er the desert’s sun-baked lap.
I might have been a pine tree,
With the winds to bill and coo,
While my arms on high uplifted
Catch the sunshine and the dew.
I might have been a calm blue sea
Bearing steamships on my breast,
Or a rolling tossing river
Hastening ever on my quest.
But I’m just a straying moon-beam
And as such I am content
Just to make some place the brighter
Then I’ll think my life well spent.
