BDSM is hard to sum up into a few words. It is such a complex concept. There are many factors to BDSM. These include the role or characteristics you have and fetishes. BDSM is a lifestyle. For the most part its concerns are sexual. However, there are Psychological purposes for your chosing a role. To understand why you are interested in certain factors of BDSM is to understand your self and psyche.
The acronym BDSM includes psychological and physiological facets: Bondage & Discipline (B&D) Dominance & Submission (D&S) Sadism & Masochism (or Sadomasochism) (S&M)
The links to the left will soon be the explanation to each. You could choose to enjoy both the bondage and discipline. Usually someone is only dominant or submissive and sadistic or masochistic. However, there are the exceptions where someone has not made up thier minds or prefer a balance.
Just the same you may be classified as a "top", bottom" or "switch". This is in regards to your normal position within a couple during sex. Thought you may normally be a "top", this does not stop you from ever being on bottom. More to come on this.
Slave and Master are terms that can be used to define dominance and submission. However, you can be submissive and not be a slave. We will talk more about this soon as well.
