Archsanctus Canensdominus

Of all the Grey Knight's great warriors, none holds more esteem within the chapter and the Ordo Malleus than Archsanctus Canensdominus (latin for High Holy and Grey Master). Said to be the first of the Grey Knights, Canensdominus has lived for millennia, fought on countless worlds, and crushed daemons of all ranks. Even today, if the need is trully great enough, Archsanctus Canensdominus will still come to the field of battle and fight in the name of the Emperor. For his many victories and unswerving loyalty to the Emperor, Canensdominus has been invested with artefacts of trully great and ancient power, and if anyone in the Imperium can trully claim to be, than Canensdominus is the Emperor's True Champion.

Special Character: A Daemonhunter army of at least 2500 points may include Archsanctus Canensdominus. If selected he counts as an HQ choice on the Force Organization Chart and must be used exactly as equipped below.

Equipment: Emperor's Wrath (see below), Armour of the Emperor (see below), Emperor's Glyph (see below), Grey Tabard (see below), Psycannon, Grimoire of True Names, Bionics, Sacred Incense.

SPECIAL RULES
Independant Character: Unless accompanied by a retinue, Archsanctus Canensdominus is an independant character and follows all of the rules in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. If his bodyguard is destroyed, he becomes an independant character.

Bodyguard: Archsanctus Canensdominus may be accompanied by a retinue of Grey Knight Terminators, as detailed on p. 23 of the Daemonhunters Codex.

Grey Knight: Canensdominus follows the Grey Knights special rules as described on p. 6 of the Daemonhunters Codex.

Emperor's Wrath: Archsanctus Canensdominus carries with him a very potent weapon; the Emperor's Wrath. This sword counts as an annointed master-crafted nemesis force sword. In Canensdominus's hands, it treats him as a Grand Master, in regards to Nemesis Force Weapons.

Armour of the Emperor: This ancient, golden suit of aegis terminator armour was worn by the Emperor himself, in the epic battle against Horus. Canensdominus inherited it for his battles against Chaos, although he ordered a great deal of the ornamentation removed; he is not the Emperor after all. The parts removed are believed to reside within the Crux Terminati carried by the Space Marine Terminators. This armor grants a 2+ Armour save (as terminator armor) and, due to its psychically charged nature, invulnerable armor saves with this armor are done via Leadership checks, not wound roles (see Armour of Vaul).

Emperor's Glyph: A portion of the Emperor's former vigor has been invested within the aging Canensdominus, in the form of a golden-blazing glyph on his forehead, granting him +2 Toughness, included in the profile above. Of course, for purposes of Instant Death by strong attacks, it acts like a similar Chaos item, negating the rule for him. Not even a lascannon can kill him with a single shot.

The Grey Tabard: This ancient cape and cloth set is a symbol of the beginning of the Grey Knights, and has been worn by Canensdominus since its founding, in order to inspire the Grey Knights on the field of battle further. Also, early during his service, the Ecclesiarchy of Terra was ordered by the Emperor to use their powers to further protect Canensdominus. Thus, they empowered it with their holy protection. It counts as a mantle of Saint Ophelia.

Psyker: Over the millennia, Canensdominus has pushed the bounds of his mental powes, and learned from the Emperor's top psykers powers from the Emperor's own repitoire. This has granted him the power called Emperor's Will (works like Mind War from Eldar). He also knows the Ordo powers of Banishment and Holocaust.

Alterations: Though it is more for me than for anyone else, these are the stat line changes I made to the regular Grand Master line for Canensdominus, and how much each change cost: +1 Wounds (18), WS +1 (10), S +1 (8). I figured the WS costs the same as a Warrior Henchman, the Wound costs the same as an Acolyte, and the Strength boost is the same as Toxin Sacs for a Hive tyrant, being an HQ unit. His armor is roughly the Armouir of Vaul, and his Mark is much similar to Nurgle's.

I made Canensdominus for several reasons. For one, I wanted a special character who made use of some of the best wargear at once, as it got annoying having them never have it. I would have certainly paid 5 more points in order to have Coteaz have a 4+ Invulnerable save, rather than 5+, and being able go in Initiative with Daemons, he might as well have had sacred incense to weaken theirs. Second, Stern is still only a Brother-Captain, and I wanted a higher-ranking Grey Knight. Thirdly, I liked some of the fluff I got to write.
