La Resistance.
Priotus closed his eyes, tears welled, but he would not let
them flow.
No Tears For Me Big Brother. Caleb had
said.
"No tears. Only Revenge." Priotus stepped through
the portal created by the ring, he placed his hand on Crash's shoulder, leading
the grieving boy onwards. Slung over his shoulder, Veronias was silent except
for an occaisional sound which was akin to a sob.
Take Crash.....
Protect Him..... Make Them Pay! This was what Troi had charged him with.
"I Will protect him, and I will have blood for what
has been done this day, I swear it!"
Using the last of the ring's power he issued the call.
"This war is not over! Hear Me! Victory is not yet
theirs! Stand up! Fight! Long Live Imperiallis!".
Brok Broke from the surface of the water like a Demon from
hell, filled with rage he barelled into the crew of the Thraxian frigate. His
blades flashed to and fro, his jaws snapped, and fire burned, in moments they
were dead. He howled with rage. Everything he had, his ship, his crew, his gold,
his life, everything, gone, destroyed by Vermithrax.
The call hit him then, as the portal opened before him.
"I hear you rock man! I have nothing now, Nothing but
my hate! I answer your call, I will deliver your justice or die in the trying!
He lunged into the portal.
Steven meditated atop a pile of Thraxian corpses. His
mission was a failure, he had failed to stop Vermithrax from breaking the seal.
Eventually they would come for him, he would be dragged back down to hell where
he could make penance for his failure. The phantom stood up with a start as he
heard Priotus' voice, and saw the portal.
"Can it be? A second chance? I cannot refuse it, too much depends on
it."
He ran into the Portal.
Silver put her hand over Crystal's eyes and close them. Her
little sister, gone, and Gold, a traitor. She rested her head on Crystals chest
for a moment, then climbed out of the grave and filled it. She plunged her sword
into the Earth as a marker.
She felt as though she should be crying, but she had lost so many people in the
last few days, cried so many tears that they would not come.
Her father stood mere metres away. He had watched as she
buried Crystal, still wiping her blood from his face. Silver turned to him,
"You are going to die. I will kill you."
Mordane chuckled
"I think not."
As he said this, a number of Serpent guard crested the hill behind Silver. There
was no way she could take that many AND her father. She resolved to at least die
with her hands around his throat.
Then she heard it, the call.
She laughed, loudly as she dived into the portal and it closed behind her.
Aspin sat in the wasteland where the tree's used to be. A
few still smouldered around her, but most were charred skeletons. Great
mountains of skulls, from animals, Elves, Dragons, and the tiny skeletons of her
people were heaped up all around her. The scene was like something from a
twisted nightmare, or the darkest legend. Yet here it was, in truth. The great
forest had been razed to the ground, she was the last of her people.
She heard Priotus' voice and looked around, she saw the
portal.
Her sorrow was greater than her hate, her need for revenge,
but she had nowhere else to go, and knew the call would not be given a second
time. So she flew into the portal to join the others.
"I knew I shouldnt have left Stan! He may have been a
complete loser, but he was a loser with an excape route!"
Sara9 fired shell after shell into the advancing soldiers.
She was running out of ammo fast, and the Thraxians werent running out of troops
at all.
"Shit, I wasnt ready to check out just yet but what the hell."
She began readying her self destruct fusion charge, then
she heard a voice in her head. The call.
Click. Out of ammo. She was through the portal before she could even consider
the offer.
Matt turned away in disgust from the reflection he saw in
the water. Perhaps it would have been better if he had just let the blast kill
him. What was there left to live for anyway? Nothing. Didnt the Thraxians
realise that Vermithrax didnt want to rule the world? He wanted to Destroy it!
Worse still, he pretty much had! Matt tore scraps from his cloak and wrapped
them round his head to conceal his disfigurement, more for his own comfort than
anything else.
He stood up, then heard the voice of an old friend.
"Once more into the breach Priotus. We'll make them pay my friend." He
strode into the portal, leaving the chill of death as he went.
He didnt know how, but he was alive. Kargos held his head,
he could still feel the pain from when Fortune had killed him.
"My love..." He heard Gaia's voice in his head.
"Gaia! What's happening, is our son safe?" He
yelled, unsure which direction he should address.
"Kargos my love, I wish I could be with you, but you must go, follow
Priotus he will explain everything.".
The portal opened, and he heard Priotus voice.
"Is that priotus? I guess I dont have any choice. I just wish I knew what
was going on."
He stepped into the portal, seeking answers.
With one final heave, Menes lifted the burning timber. No
good, he was greeted with the face of a dead child. He slumped to his knees in
despair. His kingdom burned around him, as did his people. It had been his
fathers mistake to trust Vermithrax, and his mistake to trust his father. His
atempts to right that mistake had come far too late.
A lone serpent guard stomped through the fire. Menes was
struck with rage. He ran at the guardsman, ignoring the shots fired at him. A
flying kick sent the guard to the floor, punch after punch shattered its armour,
the final punch stopped before it was thrown. Menes looked in horror at his
hand, positioned Knife edge style for a killing strike. He stepped back, the
guardsman looked at him, confused.
"You have destroyed everything I held dear, my family, my friends, my
people." Menes stated defiantly "But you will not destroy my
Ideals."
The guardsman hauled himself to his feet, a sword extended from his armoured
forearm.
"You are a fool Menes."
As the guardsman lunged at him, Menes heard the call.
I hear, and I answer My Friend. He
sidestepped the guardsman, and stepped backwards into the portal.
Baal, unlike just about every other non-Thraxian on the
planet, was having a glorious time. He danced through the ranks of the Thraxians,
ripping organs out, dining on souls, there was no resistance, no defence, his
reward had come, years of imprisonment over, now he was finally free!!
He heard the call as he ripped through another soldier.
"Pah!" He dismissed it, but then stopped as he felt something through
the portal, Veronias' sorrow.
"Little brother. So sad." He paused, then entered the portal.
The demon realm rocked as the growl raised to a roar, and
then to pure bellowing rage.
"NOBODY! NOT FATE! NOT VERMITHRAX! NOBODY DOUBLE CROSSES ME!"
Kal'nd thrashed about enveloped in fury. His people watched
on in terror as he smashed mountains, tore through buildings. Eventually he fell
to his knees, exhausted, but his rage was far from spent, perhaps it never would
be. He, king of lies, had been played for a fool.
He was perhaps the most unlikely character to recieve the
call, but the thought of refusing it never even entered his mind. A thick drool
of satisfaction dripped from his fangs as he entered the Portal.
" I'll have that bitch's soul on a silver
platter."
The unlikely heroes assembled, they strode out through the
other end of the portal. Friend and enemy stood together, all hatred forgotten,
they stood united for a common cause. Resistance. They would not play Fortune's
game any more, time to change the rules.
