Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (4) Thurik...
(5) Vadim: Now, if I remember correctly, Vadim had just killed the dragon singlehanded and, despite being a thief, had identified and pocketed several magical items. That's roughly how the last session ended, right?
(2) DM: Donavan will be a bit late, he has upgraded to1.4 and it doesn't work
(2) DM: it was 2 dragons
(1) Hador: at least
(1) Hador: ;)
(5) Vadim: Yes, but for the second one I had a *little* help from the rest of the group ;)
(5) Vadim: Hi Thurik, are you our new addition?
(4) Thurik: yes, first session :)

** (1) Hador begins his accent back up the stairs (in room 20) with sparrows blooded body resting high on his shoulder **
(24) Vadim (whispering): I'd like to commence a search of the house. Do I have to go through room by room or can I just declare a search of each one?
whispering to Donavan, don't worry about hador, his going is just an excuse, to meet our new player
(11) Vincent Voss: *Follows*
(6) Donavan: ((umm so should we not follow him?))
(1) Hador: ((anyone staying here and continuing the search while I am gone??))
whispering to Vincent Voss, don't worry about hador, his going is just an excuse, to meet our new player
(1) Hador: ((i'll be back faster than you know it :D ))
(24) Vadim: ((Vadim is continuing to search))
(6) Donavan: ((What is Vadim doing?))
(11) Vincent Voss: ((Oh ok ))
(2) DM: (ok, hador is going back to town, vadim is searching the house)
** (6) Donavan looks over his shoulder and see Vadim, alone and thinks that he may need help here as well. **
(1) Hador: "trust me... I will be fine."
(1) Hador: "though thank you for your concern"
(6) Donavan: "Vincent If you are helping Hador I can stay with Vadim here."
(2) DM: (vadim & donavan, your searching upstairs first?)
(11) Vincent Voss: "Allright then Hador I will stay they will need my blade I am sure"
(11) Vincent Voss: "I want to search downstairs
(24) Vadim: ((I'm searching upstairs))
** (1) Hador heads of by the same route as he entered **
(2) DM: vadims and donavans search reveals a man found tied ip, in one of the upstairs rooms, answering the description of Ned
(6) Donavan: ((I am helping so that that that +2 thing you talked about goes into effect))
(24) Vadim: "Ah, Mr. Shakesahft I presume," Vadim says.
(2) DM: (who is also gagged)
(24) Vadim: ((I know))
** (24) Vadim undoes Ned's gag. **
whispering to Vincent Voss, the only rooms of interest downstairs, are 2 &3
** (24) Vadim begins to removes his bonds. **
** (6) Donavan watches 10feet back. **
whispering to Vincent Voss, Library: You can tell that this room was once a library, with bookshelves around the walls. Most of the bookshelves are broken now and in many places have come away from the wall altogether. Those few shelves still intact are empty but there is a pile of books in the southwest corner.
20' by 10' a door & a fire place in the north wall, and two windows in the south wall.

whispering to Vincent Voss, Study: This room was once a writing room or study. Against the wall under the windows is a large wooden writing desk partially broken and riddled with dam p rot. There are three drawers in each pedestal and a large central drawer; the latter is closed but the others are all open -- two obviously broken open forcibly.
20' by 10' door and fire place on the south wall, two windows on the north wall.

** (6) Donavan is almost on guard **
(24) Vadim: "My name is Vadim, I and my fellows have been sent to rescue you."
(2) Ned Shakeshaft: "Many thanks. I though i'd be left here to die"
(6) Donavan: "and I am Donvan of Caradoon. Painbearer of Ilmater."
(11) Vincent Voss (whispering): Can you roll a detailed search for me I am going to take 20
(24) Vadim: "Well, no such luck. Come on, let's get you back to the village. We're all very busy."
(2) DM: (and he's only wearing his underwear)
** (24) Vadim pulls Ned to his feet and jostles him down the stairs and back to the village. **
(6) Donavan: ((We should cloth him with the fallen mens clothes before heading to town.
whispering to Vincent Voss, Treasure: The Magical Properties of Gemstones, by Mage Tenser
The Magical Properties of Herbs and Flowers, by Mage Tenser
The Metaphysics of Mathematics, by Mage Nystul

The central drawer (which is locked -- the key has been lost for years) contains nothing but valueless documents, all written in the common tongue -- receipts for payments on the purchase of various chemicals and laboratory equipment. A careful search of the cavity in which the central drawer fits will reveal a small secret compartment. Inside, wrapped in cloth, is a glass phial containing a watery, rose-coloured liquid with a spicy aroma

(24) Vadim: ((It's a short walk, he'll be fine))
(24) Vadim: "So, Ned, what were you looking for here?"
(2) DM: (are you all going back to the village?))
(11) Vincent Voss (whispering): Ok I will gather all that up
(24) Vadim: ((Yes))
(2) Ned Shakeshaft: "I was looking for the treasure. you know the alchemists gold"
(11) Vincent Voss: ((Heads back to the village*
(6) Donavan: ((I am standing at Vadim's side with this one on alert))
(6) Donavan: "Perhaps you should have gotten help first."
(24) Vadim: "Gold, really? I don't suppose you know where it might have been?"
** (6) Donavan said in a almost scolding tone. **
(11) Vincent Voss: *See's the others heading back for the village up ahead*
(2) Ned Shakeshaft: "No Mr Vadim, i got hit on the head, before i found anything"
(2) DM: as the party escort Ned back to the village, they see Hador returning accompanied by a Dwarf

(3) Vadim: ((Did we negotiate any kind of reward?))
(7) Vincent Voss: ((I am ok with that))
(5) Thurik: (best to get ned back to the village)
(1) Donavan: ((Sounds like a plan))
(1) Donavan: ((I really need to rest))
(2) Corporal Stoutly: greets you with a welcome smile "Aye, Ned we've been worried 'bout oyu, where have you been?"
(7) Vincent Voss: ((Go get some sleep Donovan))
(1) Donavan: "I knew a man from Silvery moon that spoke very highly of the Dwarfs and their superior weapon crafting in the Citadel. I was just trying to get my information straight good dwarf. I am Donavan." (exteds hand to shake it)
** (2) Corporal Stoutly looks at the rest of the party "I'm sorry about the halfling. What happen up there, the gosts get him?" **
(1) Donavan: ((Some InCharacter rest))
(5) Thurik: "Good to meet ye Donovan"
(7) Vincent Voss: "No Corporal very real men got him and gnolls"
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "men and gnolls!"
** (4) Hador (a tall well-built human with short cropped blond hair and piercing green eyes) looks the corporal up and down before speaking "Where do you think he has been?" he says somewhat angrily. "...that damned house of course." **
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "aye, all of you sit down. And we'll get you some warm food. While you tell the tale"
(3) Vadim: "Two men and a wizard remain, at least. We killed the others of which there were many."
(7) Vincent Voss: *Nods and takes a seat*
** (4) Hador glares at the corporal but nods his head in agreement **
(7) Vincent Voss: "Can some one tend to my arrow wound.....?
(7) Vincent Voss: *Grips the shaft of the arrow in his shoulder
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "Aye, our priest of selune can. She is just taking care of the halflings body. she'll be here shortly. to tend your wound"
(5) Thurik: Thurik seats himself at the table as well
** (1) Donavan grabs the chair backer and almost falls into his seat. An exausted look on his face shows his need for rest. **
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "So what we're these men and gnolls doing up there, searching for the treasure?"
** (4) Hador continues to glare at Stoutly **
(7) Vincent Voss (exit): 21:27
(3) Vadim: "Possible," Vadim says taking a seat. "Also possible they are smuggling something."
(4) Hador: "I am not happy that you did not mention the house's reputation - and I am sure that you at least suspected of some fouler going's on there than you would have us beleive. I am no-one's lackey sir, and I would have gone to that house no matter what the risk to myself. A little honensty is all I requre - and you would do well to remember that.
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "aye true sir Hador. I'll do that. " which a honest expression on his face. "Smuggling you say" scratching his chin "Was there a boat?"
(1) Donavan: "A boat. . . In a house?"
(8) Vincent Voss (enter): 21:30
Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (8) Vincent Voss...
(3) Vadim: "Under the house there is a permenant emplacement for men to stay. Under this is a cave network. I suspect this leads to the sea."
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "Got to be a boat if there smuggling anything. And if theres still men about, we could be in danger"
(5) Thurik: Arrr, you havin problems here Corporal...perhaps you know what they be smugglin?
(3) Vadim: "The men we killed wore earrings. A spurious example, but they are commonly worn by pirates," Vadim says with a half-smile.
(1) Donavan: "It could be underground tunnes that lead to the under Dark. They could use other transportation than a boat."
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "well daggerfords, the only deepwater port between here and waterdeep. so i can see why they'd want to use the place if there's access to the water. "
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "Look listen lads, you sound as if you've done a great job for the militia. But we'll be needen your help a bit more i'm afraid"
(4) Hador: "Aye - this village could be in danger with folk like that abroad... but you still have my sword if you require it Stoutly."
(5) Thurik: "..and my axe is yours"
(8) Vincent Voss: Rapid shot into Stoutly [Bad dice format] Just Kidding
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "If you could go back up to the house, and check out these caves, make sure these pirates arn't trying to escape via a boat, or signilling to noone. I'll raise evryman in the village in case we're attack"
(8) Vincent Voss: "I will see what I can do"
(3) Vadim: "If you give him your sword and axe what will the two of you fight with?"
** (1) Donavan sits their wondering what we are getting into, and why this corpral seems to know to much about smuggling. **
(2) DM: the priest of selune, enters the inn, and seeing Vincents arrow wound, starts to tend to it
** (4) Hador chooses not to hear vadim **
(4) Hador: (( :D ))
whispering to Donavan, do you know about the sense motive skills?
(8) Vincent Voss: *Gazes at the beautifull healer* "Many thanks M'lady"
whispering to Vincent Voss, your back up to full hps
(3) Vadim: "Well, I think we shall begin with a new day. There will doubtless be a great deal of tre---ives. Thieves and briggans up there. And I shall take pleasure in collecting it. Them. Killing them. Yes. Mmmm."
(1) Donavan: " I will aid what ever the cause is. . ." (under his breath) ". . . any thing keep me away from the meeting at waterdeep."
(1) Donavan (whispering): Nope.
whispering to Donavan, its just a skill roll, you can make, to see if someone is bluffing/lying
(1) Donavan (whispering): :D
(8) Vincent Voss: *Relaxes a bit and orders some bread and cheese
(1) Donavan (whispering): Should you roll that privatly for me?
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "i dunno about a new day. i'm more worried about tonight, with pirates about"
(1) Donavan: "Good Corpral you seem to be the one drawing the conclusion that they are Pirats. . . not us"
whispering to Donavan, no, its an oppossed roll, so i make a another private roll, to see if yours is better
(1) Donavan (whispering): So what do I roll then?
(3) Vadim: "As far as we know there are only three men abroad, two of which are injured and none of them equipped for any kind of assault on the town. Tonight we are in no danger."
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "well what else are they, you've seen them?"
(8) Vincent Voss: *Munches some cheese*
(1) Donavan: "I think that you may know more than you are letting on to Corpral."
whispering to Donavan, its 1d20+2
(1) Donavan: [1d20+2] -> [9,2] = (11)
(1) Donavan (whispering): doh ;-)
whispering to Donavan, you think he's telling you the truth, and nothing but the truth
(1) Donavan: "But then . . Why doubt a Corpral.
** (1) Donavan shrugs and orders some food. **
(4) Hador: "If the others agree, we will take turns to keep watch tonight - if that will ease your thoughts."
(8) Vincent Voss: *Chews on some bread
(2) Corporal Stoutly: "So you'll stand guard over the village tonight then?"
(5) Thurik: rummages through his pack and produces an large clay tankard, then orders a fill of their strongest ale
(1) Donavan: "aye"
(4) Hador: "If that is what is required - then so be it!"
(3) Vadim: "Oh, absolutely," Vadim says through a yawn. He gets up from the table and goes to acquire a room for the night.
(2) DM: ((your going to spend the night at the village?))
(8) Vincent Voss: "We can check out those caves if you wish Sir"
(1) Donavan: ((I would rater sleep in an inn than that house ;-) ))
(4) Hador: ((think so - any other plans guys???))
(3) Vadim (whispering): I'd like to try on that silver ring and see if I notice any magical effects from it.
(2) DM: (the only rooms are above the stables)
(1) Donavan: ((Take Guard in shifts? Roll d20 for the order of the shif?))
(4) Hador: ((nice))
whispering to Vadim, nothing obvious
(3) Vadim (whispering): Not in front of the group obviously
(3) Vadim (whispering): Well, I'll keep it on anyway.
(8) Vincent Voss: "I am prepaired to go back to that house we need to take that wizard by surprise
(1) Donavan: %s Tried to cast %s but has used all of them for today,Please rest so I can cast more. % ( charNameL, name )
(8) Vincent Voss: *Rises up and starts to head back*
(4) Hador: "I will do whatever is deemed the wisest course of action - though I feel our cleric desires rest."
whispering to Vincent Voss, are you going to tell the others about those books you found
** (3) Vadim departs soundlessly from the main room of the inn for the room above the stable. **
(8) Vincent Voss (whispering): not yet I need time to puzzle them out
(5) Thurik: (of course might be better to hit them before they have a chance to heal up)
(8) Vincent Voss (whispering): Wait actually I grab Donovan and pull him aside
(4) Hador: ((so we staying here or heading back???))
** (1) Donavan starts to doze of in his chair, while waiting for food. **
(2) DM: (ok, you rest up for the night. the following morning you head back up to the house)
(1) Donavan: ((Are you verifying that is what we want to do, or did that hapen?))
** (3) Vadim stands in front of the main door of the house. "So are we all prepared to investigate these caverns? Sir dwarf, I imagine you will be of great help down there." **
(2) DM: (that is what you do, unless there is anything else you want to do)
(5) Thurik: "aye, i've seen my share of caverns"
(8) Vincent Voss (whispering): I would show donovan and ask what he thinks....?
(2) DM: (how do you want to proceed into the house and caverns?)
(5) Thurik: (which set of stairs do we come down (room #))
(2) DM: (either stairs 20 or 21)
** (1) Donavan , upon waking, gives him self a light floging to apease his god and remind himself of the pain that the weak suffer at the hands of the evil. The prepairs his pack and heads towards the house with the others. **
(8) Vincent Voss: go 21
whispering to Vincent Voss, ok, i'll put the book descriptions on the message board for him to look at
(3) Vadim: ((I think we should split up, half down one half the other, so nobody can escape if there's anyone there.))
(8) Vincent Voss (whispering): ok
(4) Hador: ((ok - i'll take the orignal way down))
(5) Thurik: (so the third staircase leads to the caverns?)
(2) DM: (yes)
(3) Vadim: ((Thurik and I will go via the rapdoor then and everyone else will go by the kitchen))
(2) DM: Cellar: You have entered a room that is so unlike anything else you have seen in the House that for a moment you pause, somewhat taken aback. The illumination here is good since several lighted torches are held in shoulder-high brackets around the walls. This was obviously a cellar, but equally obviously it is now used for an entirely different purpose; your first impression is that it is the living quarters for about ten people.

Ten single beds (crude affairs - little more than thin mattresses on boards) stand with heads to the south wall, each with a small wooden locker at its foot. In the centre of the flagged floor is a long wooden trestle table on which there is a variety of cheap metal cutlery and earthenware crockery together with a large jug about half full of a light brown liquid. There are a dozen wooden stools round the table. Against the north wall are two casks, one larger than the other and both broached. The larger one is nearly full of a clear liquid, the smaller one about half full of a light brown liquid. A metal dipper hangs on the outside of the rim of the larger cask. One bed is now burnt.

Next to the casks is a large wooden bin. Above it, hanging on hooks on the wall, are a large ham, a long string of sausages and a small side of meat. Next to the bin is what appears to be a crude, metal wood-fired stove standing in a fireplace. Above the stove, on a shelf, are some iron and earthenware cooking utensils, while next to it is a small pile of logs.

The room is 75' by 30' with a 10' wide 15' long corridor in the south east corner. Two doors lead off the corridor, one north and one to the east.

Near the foot of the stairs are two small, unbroached casks; next to them is a bolt of cloth.
And there are numerous dead bodies, blood and guts over the floor.

** (1) Donavan is just following shaking his head in the confusion. **
(2) DM: Eastern Door: The door to the east has a strong wooden bar across it, carried in brackets on the frame and the door itself. On the door has been written the single word 'DANGER' in the common tongue; this has been inscribed in large letters using chalk.

** (4) Hador speaks quietly to the dwarf while guesturing to the 'DANGER' door "A skeletal host lurks beyond that door" he mutters solumnly. **
** (4) Hador then stands in the centre of the cellar adjusting his armour and speaks quietly "We have already lost one of group to this house - if we are carefull and alert it will not claim another." **
(8) Vincent Voss (whispering): Dinner time for me can you NPC me.....?
whispering to Vincent Voss, sure
(5) Thurik: glares at the barred door and mumbles under his breath, "me hates the undead"
(8) Vincent Voss (whispering): Thank you
(8) Vincent Voss: Disconnecting from server...
(3) Vadim: "Shall we?" he asks Hador, gesturing towards the door to the caverns.
(4) Hador: "aye"
** (1) Donavan nods **
** (2) Vincent lights one of his torches **
** (3) Vadim pads lightly down the satairs. **
** (4) Hador unsheathes his huge two-handed blade and follows vadim **
(8) Vincent Voss (exit): 22:00
** (1) Donavan holds his monging star in his hand. **
(2) DM: the party proceeds into the caves, and quickly find, there not very big
(5) Thurik: readies his waraxe
(2) DM: the only important cave is 27
(2) DM: Cavern: This cavern, like the passage leading to it, is well lit by torches held in brackets round the walls. Stacked against the wall to your left, as you enter, you can see five small bolts of cloth, while to your right are eight small casks in a neat row.
Approx 30' diameter, tunnel to the east.

(2) DM: and 30
(2) DM: Sea Cave: The passage leads into a cave that opens directly to the sea. The tide is out at present and there is little water in the cave, but there is an obvious high water mark that in places is 3' above the floor. Pulled up onto the sloping cave floor is a small boat - perhaps large enough for eight men - with oars, a step-down mast and a neatly furled sail. A rope tied to the bow has been weighed down by a large boulder that serves as an anchor.

(2) DM: no men or gnolls can be seen
(1) Donavan: ((Can I go and inspect the boat?))
(2) DM: (sure)
(1) Donavan: Search Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [6,1] = (7)
(2) DM: (you find an empty boat)
(3) Vadim (whispering): I'll inspect the cloth and check the contents of the casks -- alcohol I suspect.
whispering to Donavan, you only really need to make asearch roll, if your looking for secret doors etc
(1) Donavan: "Well men this boat is empty."
whispering to Vadim, brandy
(1) Donavan (whispering): Ok . . . Hehehe
(3) Vadim (whispering): What kind of cloth?
(5) Thurik: (can i see anything out on the sea?)
(2) DM: (there's nothing but water as far as you can see)
whispering to Vadim, silk
** (4) Hador goes to have a closer look at the casks in area 27 **
(3) Vadim: "The casks all contain brandy," Vadim says upon returning to the group. "The rolls of cloth are silk."
(1) Donavan (whispering): I inspect the rubbel that is by the #29
(2) DM: (theres also so more silk and brandy, in room 29)
(5) Thurik: "On their way to the markets of Waterdeep no doubt"
(3) Vadim: "There's a pretty penny to be made from them, but it's hardly an alchemist's gold."
(4) Hador: "the pirates stash do we think...not much treasure is it!"
(3) Vadim: "Avoiding the taxes of the Gate"
(4) Hador: "Unless they were taking the real treasure out..."
(1) Donavan: "the boat is empty for going out."
(1) Donavan: "Tax evasion seems logical."
(2) DM: (anywhere else you want to look?)
(3) Vadim: "Thurik, do you see anything suspect about these caves? Any hint of a secret passage or room?"
** (1) Donavan sheaches the shoreline **
(3) Vadim: I'll help him look.
(10) Vincent Voss (enter): 22:10
(5) Thurik: performs quick search of the caverns
whispering to Thurik, make a search roll
(10) Vincent Voss (whispering): Back
whispering to Donavan, theres very little shore line, and very rocky
(5) Thurik: [1d20+1] -> [8,1] = (9)
