Terrick the Grey

Terrick the Grey was sent to the dead-book by an artifact of Aoskar in Long Silent Sigil.

He was living in peace in the City of Righteous Harmony. People told him that it was a city in the Outlands, located midpoint between Automata and Fortitude, but he really didn’t care. He felt content living in Righteous Harmony.

Then, Terrick's life turned upside down when a silver hound archon, by the name of Filias, appeared with his brethren. They wished to speak with the ruler of the City and begin pilgrimages from Mount Celestia to here and back again.

For some reason, he was drawn to this being, standing calmly, guarding his superiors. And he too, saw the aasimar and noticed a connection. They introduced each other, and shook hands. That touch awakened long lost memories of a past life. A past life that led to their deaths.

At Mount Celestia, the cleric/necromancer learned that he was once called Terrick the Black, a mortal who bound his spirit with Filias. But how, he asked, can he be bound to me, and yet be standing here?

When Terrick the Black died in the Astral, his soul flew across the Silver Void to come to the Outlands. (His mortal self was a being of Neutrality, but Fillias was one of Law. Hence, he appeared at Righteous Harmony.) The Astral, however, is a place of unpredictable possibilities. It is a place with no time or space. Evidently, Terrick’s soul somehow traveled back in time to emerge in the Outlands, still bound to the dead spirit of the archon.

The archons learned that a tanar’ri alkilith, named the Unseen, and his proxy, Vizard, had found the dead power, Aoskar, and intended to bring him to life. By corrupting the dead god to chaos and evil, he may slip into the Abyss, and give the fiends power to control portals, and thus, the multiverse. Without Terrick the Black, they would never have known this.

An alliance was formed between the baatezu, who knew best how to fight the tanar’ri, and the archons. They selected Cavitus, a fortress in the plane of Ash to hold the Heart of Aoskar and prevent it from getting loose. With both baatezu and archon forces, neither would successfully control the Heart, and a truce would maintain.

And they have not interfered directly because it has already happened, or will happen. And the archons have been training you, Terrick the Grey, to bring the Heart to Cavitus, to save the multiverse.
