As they fight for their lives, the heroes are given more choices that they don't want to make...

They encounter a contingent of Doomguard studying the actions of the Unseen, since they see it as the ultimate manifestation of entropy. However, the Doomguard aren't hostile, and are, in fact, glad that the heroes killed the Vizard, as it allows one of them to fill the position.

The two slaughter that possible leadership, but Terrick the Black is caught in the unholy magics and falls, leaving the Heart for Teniserian to rescue.

Meanwhile, Daft and Marissa attempt to break through the front door, but are met with strong resistance, leaving Marissa dead.

The bad news: With half their party dead, and with no escape in sight, the heroes glumly rest, in hopes that luck will save them.

In the morning, the heroes find that the Spinal Eye implant in Marissa (implanted by Quivering Nerve) refused to let her die, and revived her over the night.

Khalla also regains some semblence of sanity, enough to aid the heroes in their journey to the Deeper Regions.

The heroes negotiate with the Doomguard to allow them safe passage to the lower levels, and for sanctuary.

They come across what they perceive as a gate out, but perhaps directly into the Abyss. Next to that, they find an Abyssal clock with a near-deadly trap, and four obelisks generating Chaos and Evil into the realm. Is this the source of the Unseen's power?

She tells him that even they have been uncertain what to do with the Heart, now that the heroes have obtained it. Some lillendi wanted to take it for themselves, while others thought that, perhaps, Chaos would be best served by the heroes' intervention.

They manage to find the last lillendi, hiding in a corner of the Lower Region, but discover that, indeed, Xillialli was not what she appears.

The Unseen makes another personal appearance, and the heroes fight until Teniserian manages to discover the portal key to escape.
