FeaTurE
started in June 1999 as a one- man project creating a
combination of heavy industrial patterns and ethnical themes.
All instruments are played and programmed by failing
feature-id-“Raf Hegge”.
There were no particular reasons for starting a solo project,
but one: Raf didn’t succeed in his search for soulmates and
decided to start up FeaTurE on his own.
Around the millenium change (1999/2000), the first small
traces of life appeared: by doing some gigs in local clubs Raf
acquired his first live-experience and feedback from the
audience. In these days FeaTurE was a fully instrumental
project, and the lack of vocals was the most important
comment.
After some experiments with noisy vocals during later
concerts, the vocals became also a part of FeaTurE.
In the middle of 2000, Raf started to rework (debugging) the
musical material. Due to the large amount of notes, it did
take a lot of time.
July 2001: the 6-track “Conception” was recorded in two
days. The recording is quite raw (“attention, keep away from
the sharp edges”), but is also a very good representation of
what FeaTurE stands for: a brutal and overbombing mass,
kicking you right in the face. |

From September 2001
a microQ-synthesizer joined FeaTurE. Thanks to the microQ,
live-gigs sound even more heavier and more powerful than the
recording “Conception”.
January 2002: “Conception” was released. From then,
FeaTurE wasn’t a freelance project anymore, and Raf started
to introduce “Conception” into the Belgian dark scene.
In July 2002 “Dark Demons, the third breed” (DD3) was
released by Dark Entries Magazine. They couldn’t resist
asking FeaTurE, among other Belgian bands (such as IC434, Stin
Scatzor, Propulsion, Heyaeb,…), to contribute a track for
DD3.
From the middle of 2002, Raf and his crew have been invited
for playing a few gigs "all over" the country.
Unhappily, the making of a good live-show is a learning proces,
resulting at the end of 2002 into a very loud and heavy
reputation.
