Important World Details

Erndorth, named after a corruption of the ancient elven world meaning "The Middle Lands", is a planet not unlike our earth. Aside from the aspects of magic and fantastic creatures it is a realm which is fairly normal to earth in many respects. Erndorth is roughly 30,000 miles in diameter, which makes it about 20 percent larger than earth. It rotates on its axis every 24 hours; just like earth; and also revolves around its sun every 360.2 days.

Erndorth has two moons; the Light Moon which is called Argelis, and a dark moon which is named Reardon. While Argelis; the light moon; looks very similar to our own moon on earth and completes its cycle exactly every 30 days, Reardon; the dark moon; glows with a very faint violet hue and is so dim as to be almost unseen except for the darkest of nights, during which time it casts dark eerie shadows across the land. Reardon is called the dark moon for more than just its color however. It is said; mostly in tales told by old men who should know better; that the phases of Reardon hold evil powers and it is considered bad luck to be under the full light of it after dark. Beyond that reardon is just another smaller sibling of Argelis and completes its cycle exactly every 27.75 days.

During the 360.2 days it takes Erndorth to complete its revolution around the sun, it's 24 degree axis tilt causes it to go through four distinct seasonal changes. The seasons are Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter and are just like we know them here on earth.

A year on Erndorth is divided up into 12 months of exactly 30 days each. Each month is made up of five smaller, six day weeks. The names of the months, and the seasons in which they fall are listed below.

1.  Morning Star

2.  Sun's Dawn

3.  First Seed (spring)

4.  Rain's Hand

5.  Second Seed

6.  Mid Year (summer)

7.  Sun's Height

8.  Last Seed

9.  Hearth Fire (autumn)

10. Sun's Dusk

11. Frost Fall

12. Evening Star (winter)

Once every 5 years, an extra day follows the last day of Evening Star. This single day is called the King's Festival, and is used to celebrate the day when the first king of Aldariah; Amren Ap Anoth; finally destroyed the evil Drow, and set free the entire slave population of Aldariah. That day marked what was the last day of human innocence, and the first day of the Aldarian calender.
