[OOC] Eclipse waves.

[OOC] Psyche says, "Restocked?"

[OOC] You say, "Yeah. There was something else I almost forgot I was out of - toilet paper. I knew there was a good reason why I had to go to the store TONIGHT..."

[OOC] Typheous chuckles.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Always embarrasing when you forget that. I still think rolls should come with a little device that bleeps you when you're running low on your last roll."

[OOC] You say, "Alrighty. Any XP expenditures before we start?"

Tsharing pages: "Could I raise Do, Meditation & Cosmology from 2 to 3?"

[OOC] Psyche says, "Mmmm...no, not at the moment :)"

[OOC] You say, "I'd just rip out the batteries, frankly... My roommate and I kind of play chicken with toilet paper and the dish washer."

Tsharing has received your page: "Absolutely. You mentor is actually handy, for once."

[OOC] Typheous says, "What? you keep the TP in the dish washer and see who forgets to take it out?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "And no XP purchases for me"

[OOC] You say, "He always loses at dishwasher chicken, and I always lose at TP chicken."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "There was something like that when I was in halls, with the sink."

[OOC] Typheous chuckles.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "After a few weeks, you'd have this....swamp full of lumps of food and dishes with meat-based foodstuffs fused to them. And it got fun when there were none of a certain item left to pinch, so you had to salvage one from a minimally disgusting place and wash it as best you could."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "And teabags. Who the hell puts teabags in the sink? Are you supposed to wash them so they can be used again?"

[OOC] Psyche laughs,.

[OOC] You say, "We're not quite that bad, thank heavens."

Eclipse puts on his dragon medallion.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Student kitchens were Bad. You know the bit in 'Minority Report' with the milk and the sandwich? Been there."

You say, "When last we left Hell's Errand Children, they had arrived at the Tybil Monastary, where they spoke to Tsharing's mentor, Gama, whom the Fae call the Short Silver Man."

[OOC] Psyche attempts to banish her good mood and get in character.

[OOC] Typheous chuckles.

[OOC] Typheous says, "Starting at the next morning?"

[OOC] Eclipse worked in the college union for quite a while. "When I did dishes, I used to sacrifice a Jello cube to the god of the garbage disposal whenever it started getting backed up. My coworkers' odd looks were worth the slime I had to manipulate..."

Eclipse [to Typheous]: We certainly coul.

[OOC] You say, "Could, even."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Since I think at the end of the previous session we were all heading to bed."

[OOC] Eclipse nods.

Typheous wakes up a bit earlier than usual for him and goes through a few fencing forms in the morning air. . o O ( You awake yet? )

Psyche . o O ( Yes. What? )

Typheous . o O ( We had mentioned to our fae friend we would abduct the Silver Man..... )

Psyche . o O ( We told him that we would take the Silver Man to the woods for the Fae to speak with, yes. )

Typheous finishes his forms and goes to where ever breakfast is being provided. . o O ( You and Tsharing decent, or do I have to amuse myself with more forms before breakfast? )

Tsharing has received your page: "Planning to do anything in the early morning?"

Psyche . o O ( I'm ready for breakfast. I don't know about Tsharing. )

Psyche says, "Tsharing?"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "We're together?"

Eclipse [to Tsharing]: Probably within a room or two of each other.

Psyche taps on the door, and all.

Tsharing opens the door. "Yes?"

Psyche says, "Ready for breakfast?"

Tsharing says, "Yes, I am. Was that all?"

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 6, 5, 10, 9, 2, 10, 6, 6 No diff given.

Psyche tilts her head slightly. "No. Typheous and I have been...talking...a bit, and there are some things we need to discuss, in addition to the situation back in Wyzdin."

Tsharing goes down with Psyche, and gets some appropriately simple food for breakfast.

Psyche likewises.

You say, "All the food here is appropriately simple. It's a monastary, after all."

Typheous is waiting for them at breakfast, his simple meal in fornt of him. He smiles as the women arrive. "I hope you two slept well."

Tsharing says, "I did."

Psyche nods curtly. "Well enough."

[OOC] Psyche says, "How the heck am I supposed to -sprinkle- a cup of -tightly packed- sugar?"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Put it through a sieve?"

Tsharing says, "So, do you want to talk now?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "Tightly pack the sprinkles?"

[OOC] You say, "Matter 5?"

Typheous nods, his music playign some tune that resemples a child's song about morning with heavy orchestration. "Yes, we need to look for what we forsee ourselves doing."

Psyche leans her elbows on the table, staring into her cup. "We have several obligations - things we've committed ourselves to."

Tsharing says, "The fae? Yes."

Typheous chuckles. "Yes, there is that."

Typheous pages: "The magic link o' quotes is updated.. need it again?"

Tsharing says, "And what do you think?"

Psyche says, "We made a bargain."

Typheous smirks, his child's tune growing a bit sarcastic. "I don't know if it counts with a Fae. At least, I shall not abduct a man over it."

Typheous has received your page: "Nope. Still have the link in an older email."

Psyche says, "Who said anything about abducting?>"

Tsharing says, "You would fail, in any case. I would certainly try to stop you."

Typheous says, "I seem to remember that being the fae's wording."

Tsharing says, "We could ask. But honestly, I do not think we tell him anything he has not already considered."

Typheous shrugs. "You'd be surprised what some people over look."

Psyche lifts her shoulders. "We must at least attempt to comply. I would have no intention of capturing him by force, Tsharing...merely of requesting that he speak with them."

Tsharing says, "You can ask."

Typheous's music slowly shifts into a much darker tune, all childish melodies leaving it. "And then there is what we do ourselves after leaving here."

Tsharing says, "Assuming we do."

Psyche glances around. "You may be comfortable and at ease here, Tsharing, but these walls are not my sort of cage."

Psyche . o O ( Too controlled. )

Typheous chuckles. "Nor are they mine. Too... spartan."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Not that they would have that reference..."

Tsharing says, "Given that we cannot return to the academy, there may not be anywhere else."

Typheous says, "I, for one, would want to persue our original goal, Theusleh."

Psyche says, "We can always go on to Theuslah."

Psyche . o O ( Argh. )

Typheous . o O ( *sigh* I suppose we just get used to it. )

Tsharing says, "And then what?"

Typheous says, "And then we try to find Plax."

Tsharing says, "My point is that we have no base any more. And you have no tutors."

Psyche says, "Master Liriel sent me on this quest as an object lesson in the real world. Just because Wyzdin has ceased to be accessible does not mean that the lesson has. We have no more and no less help from our masters than we would have originally."

Typheous shrugs. "They have been trying to get us to do things on our own, and I can't just sit by while a friend of mine might be in danger."

Tsharing says, "I see."

Typheous leans back slightly. "I just don't see how staying here will help us open Wizdin up or find Plax. And I definately don't want to sit and do nothing."

Psyche tilts her head. "What had you thought to do, Tsharing?"

Psyche . o O ( *a little petulantly* See? I can be civil, godsdamnit. )

Tsharing says, "I have lost little, so what I was doing before. Learning."

--[Sat Apr 19 19:27:48 2655]--------------------------------[4 users; 0s lag]--

Typheous . o O ( Yes, you surprise me every day. )

Psyche "And for us, you would have meant the same, here instead of Wyzdin?

Typheous frowns slightly, studying Tsharing, his music fading slightly.

[OOC] Psyche says, "Only with another quote, and a says, in front of it."

Tsharing says, "Yes, I did."

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 3, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 5, 6 No diff given.

Typheous raises his eyebrow. "You're an odd one, Tsharing, if you'll forgive me saying so."

Psyche shakes her head. "I have no intention of staying here in a trap of symbolic gestures and spiritual snares. I have another path to go."

Psyche . o O ( *annoyance and frustration, inward-directed* )

Typheous, amzingly, doesn't respond to Psyche.

Tsharing says, "I am odd. Have you heard yourself lately?"

[OOC] Psyche says, "You get mine, Tsharing?"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Yes."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Just wanted to make sure. Never sure how much you lose on a recon."

Typheous chuckles. "I suppose we're all a bit... strange in our own ways. In any course, I intend to travel to Theusleh and see what I can do about Plax. Then perhaps to look at getting back to school, or at least see who's keeping whom on which side of the wall."

Tsharing says, "I was simply offering this place as a possibility, for those of us who have possibly too narrow a view of what magic is."

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 1, 1, 7, 9, 7, 5, 3, 10 No diff given.

[OOC] Psyche says, "AIEE! Fuzzy cupcake!"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Eh?"

[OOC] You say, "Oh the humanity?"

Psyche says, "And I'd rather not. Too much mysticism can drown a person, make them lose sight of the ground."

[OOC] Psyche mutters. Nearly botched that roll to speak politely. And she's -trying- now :P

[OOC] You say, "Let the next Paradigm War begin."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Yes, opened the tupperware and found fuzzy cupcakes."

[OOC] You say, "So the mold says to Nykki, "You gonna eat that?""

[OOC] Psyche bakes pineapple upside-down cake, is decadent.

[OOC] Psyche says, "Typh'll be a second."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "That's nothing. I've had milk that actually solidified on the top...."

[OOC] You say, "The only time milk ever goes bad around here is when I'm out of town for more than a week..."

Typheous chuckles. . o O ( Marvelous choice of words there... ) "I prefer a good blade or a piece of art to hand gestures, I'm afraid."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "And then there was the time I came into the kitchens to find literally hundreds of little balls of something that smelled like droppings from some kind of animal scattered all over the place. Even inside some of the cupboards and refrigerators. I still have no idea what was happening there."

Psyche . o O ( Mmmph. Still working on it. )

Tsharing says, "Then that is your perogative. I won't try to tell you that my way is better, merely show you it and let you decide for yourself. But to dismiss a style out of hand is rude."

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 4, 5, 4, 5, 9, 1, 3, 5 No diff given.

Psyche pages: "Yep, they hate me tonight."

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 10, 10, 1, 9, 4, 6, 10, 6 No diff given.

Psyche has received your page: "Hey, noone's MAKING you abide by them... *smirk*"

(remotely) Psyche grins

Typheous smiles warmly, for all the good it will do him. "I wouldn't say we're dismissing it, Tshar, just that we've found one that works well for us, if I can put words in Psyche's mouth." . o O ( You were doing well.... might want to appologise about the blind comment though.)

[OOC] You say, "This reminds me of Raul talking to the werewolves with Holly and Juliet around..."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Oh?"

Psyche takes a deep breath, eyes flickering to Typheous. . o O ( You're right. ) "I'm sorry, Tsharing. It works well for you...but it's not the way I see things." The words come after a significant pause, and with hesitation.

[OOC] Typheous acks at the fuzzy cupcakes.... The mold's eating the cupcake papers... but not the cupcakes...

Psyche pages: "Guess who's working on that dot of etiquette?"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "When mould turns something down, you might want to think twice about eating it."

[OOC] You say, "Must not be very good cupcakes?"

Tsharing says, "I understand."

[OOC] You say, "The girls were saying things that provoked Frenzy checks while Raul struggled desperately to cast the insults in the best possible light and navigate a delicate negotiation simultaneously..."

Typheous . o O ( Thank you.... )

Psyche has received your page: "Typheous? *smirk*"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "The delights on online gaming."

Typheous says, "Now, we do have to speak with Gama, I believe."

Tsharing says, "Yes."

Tsharing goes to look for him.

You say, "Gama is sharpening the silver edge of his iron axe in his room."

Typheous follows along, tunes and all.

[OOC] You say, "Encouraging, yes?"

Tsharing says, "My companions would like to raise an issue with you. It concerns a meeting with a relatively benign fae in the woods and a promise that was made."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Well, I was going to be reasonable, but plainly he's just got an axe to grind...."

Gama, "Realatively benign, eh? Does that mean they tap you on the shoulder before sucking all the hope and passion out of you?

[OOC] Eclipse laughs.

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 1, 10, 6, 5, 1, 3, 4, 1 No diff given.

Psyche bites her tongue, outwardly. . o O ( Stupid, bigoted warrior-types... )

Typheous chuckles softly, his music soft. "Actually, it was a particularly helpful fae that asked us to.. I believe he put it, 'abduct you and bring you to them so they could talk to you and get you to stop slaughtering them'."

Typheous . o O ( Thank you for not saying that... )

Psyche . o O ( I'm trying. Like to burst from trying, fuck. )

Gama frowns, "Sounds like a trap. The Fae don't kill indiscriminately, you know. Some mortals are more useful to them alive, especially if they are likely to help the Fae get something they want."

Tsharing says, "That is also possible."

Typheous shrugs. "While I don't exactly trust the fae, this one was rather peaceable compared to his brethren we had chasing us out of the wood." . o O ( Yes, at times it's hard... Still, thank you. )

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 7, 9, 9, 10, 7, 9, 4, 4 No diff given.

Gama, "You're damned right, it's possible."

Gama, "Only a fool trusts the Fae. This peaceful one, what was it like?"

Psyche takes a deep breath. "Nonetheless, without his guidance we would have continued to go the wrong direction, further into the Unseen Realms. And in return for that help, we did agree to at least attempt to help him." A beat, before she describes the fae, in detail.

Typheous starts to describe the fae, complete with the litte-bunny-foofoo fingers, but he stops as Psyche begins, only offering his hand as a sort of visual aid.

Psyche . o O ( That was needlessly cutesy. )

Typheous . o O ( Well, it wasn't going to be wuite this bad... but then you started talking... )

Psyche . o O ( Oh for fuck's sake. I didn't say -anything- wrong. )

Gama snorts, "Pooka-aspect, eh? You realize, I hope, that a pooka can't have a conversation without lying at least once, don't you? They're tricksters. And it is a good thing you didn't decide to give in to his whims, or you wouldn't have been able to leave because you wouldn't remember your life outside the Uncharted Regions."

Typheous nods. "Still, some of us thought we should relay his request."

Typheous . o O ( Nothing at all, just me patomiming looks a lot sillier than me actually speaking with the gestures. )

Tsharing says, "How do things go here?"

Psyche . o O ( Bunny fingers. Shiit. )

Typheous . o O ( *sigh* )

Gama, "The Monastary has its peace. The Fae don't dare approach it anymore. Chaos is losing its hold in the are, first of all, and second of all, there are more than enough Awakened monks in this little community to drive off anything short of a full-scale invasion."

[OOC] You say, "in the area, even..."

Typheous nods slowly, his music lightening some. "Good to hear. How is travelling? Are the roads dangerous or do the patrols keep things fairly clear?"

Gama, "The road between here and Ironridge is reasonably safe. In the winter, storms can make the trip quite dangerous, but the yeti seldom come down from the mountains anymore."

[OOC] You say, "Of course, all monsters can smell a group of PCs, which drives them into a killing frenzy... *evil grin*"

[OOC] Typheous says, "Yeah, so basically, we're doomed."

Psyche just settles back and listens at this point.

Typheous nods. "At least it shouldn't be too bad of a journey."

[OOC] You say, "Hm, where did I put those Exalted snow monsters WW posted on their site..."

[OOC] Typheous crosses self.

Tsharing says, "About how long will it take to get there?"

Gama, "Not too bad. The mountains have no love for travelers, but we've mostly subjugated them. They send down an occasional avalanche just to prove that they still can, but they're practically tame. It will take two days to get to Ironridge, assuming a blizzard doesn't blow up overnight. They do that, sometimes. A wise man once said 'there is no taming the winds.'"

Psyche says, "And if one does? Have you advice for us?"

Tsharing says, "It wasn't that hard the first time around....sorry, I was thinking of something else. You are right."

Typheous frowns in thought. . o O ( A blizzard in the mountains... sounds like fun... )

Psyche . o O ( Sounds like a good way to die young. )

Typheous . o O ( there is that too. )

Gama, "Stay warm and try not to let the snow bury you. The mountains tend to get bold if they think they can make an avalanche look like an accident."

Gama, "In fact, I could guide you as far as Ironridge. The road is completely safe all the way to Theusleh after you've crossed the higher mountains."

Tsharing says, "Thank you."

Typheous nods, his music a bit bold. "I'm not certain that we would need the guidance, but we would accept it if you offer it."

Psyche glances at Typheous, shaking her head. . o O ( Ego, ego... ) "We would be glad for any assistance you would be willing to give."

[OOC] Psyche stares longingly at cake.

Typheous sighs softly, the boldness leaving his music. . o O ( Well, we could do it... )

Gama, "Very well. When do we leave?"

Psyche . o O ( Do you like fucking yourself? )

Psyche . o O ( ...over? )

[OOC] Typheous was wondering there...

[OOC] Psyche says, "Pause deliberate :)"

Typheous . o O ( What? A little confidence is useful now and again.... )

Tsharing says, "Although things went badly the last time this was tried, would it be possible for anyone to simply transport us there?"

Psyche flinches at the suggestion. . o O ( A little. )

Gama frowns, "As in instantaneously? I lack the enlightenment for that, and I doubt many of the Monks could transport others in that fashion. I could send you via an Umbral Realm, though that would take some time, too. Or, we're getting close to the full moon of the month of Entropy, aren't we? There's a Catwalk between the monastary's central temple and the largest of Theusleh's Nodes. It would be quick and reasonably safe, as long as you don't encounter any unfriendly spirits there. Magic doesn't work in a Catwalk."

[OOC] You say, "doubt any, even."

Tsharing says, "I see."

Typheous frowns. "I might almost prefer walking, in all honesty."

Psyche murmurs, under her breath, "Strike the stone with your rod, and a path will open through the sea to a new land - a land of fire and brass, of steel and suffering, of claw and copper. But only when the coin is flawless gold will the door open for you."

Typheous . o O ( Damn poems.... )

Gama, "What is that you're whispering, there?"

Psyche lifts her head, studying Gama. "Before we left the Academy, a..." . o O ( Fuck-headed, dick-oriented, slimebag bastard of a ) "...classmate of ours spoke what might have been a prophecy. And part of it was, 'Strike the stone with your rod, and a path will open through the sea to a new land - a land of fire and brass, of steel and suffering, of claw and copper. But only when the coin is flawless gold will the door open for you.' Tsharing thought it might have been referring to a catwalk."

Tsharing says, "Whatever it is, I am keen not to go to that land again."

Typheous nods. "And much of the poem or prophecy has been accurate so far." . o O ( Mer? why the hell would Alex sink to Mer? There's always been someone he had on a leash... )

Gama, "I know the Node here doesn't have a Catwalk during the full moon of Spirit, but perhaps Wyzdin's does. The Entropy Catwalk from here leads to the biggest Node that I know of. I've never studied it myself, but I hear it has many Catwalks, some of which have not been explored. Or at least, the explorers never returned to tell what they found. It must once have been a major hub between Nodes."

Typheous frowns. "Any idea on how long it would take to traverse the Catwalk here to Theusleh?"

Psyche pages: "RP festivities are the night of the 30th, right?"

Psyche . o O ( Because she'll spread her legs for him and love him for abusing her? )

Psyche has received your page: "Yes."

Typheous . o O ( *sigh* There is that.... )

Tsharing says, "In the age before, you mean?"

Gama, "All Catwalks are exactly fifty miles long by the most direct route. It takes longer if you have trouble finding your way through the sometimes labyrinthine passages. No journey along a catwalk takes more than five days. After five days, the moon changes, and the Catwalk dumps you into a random Umbral Realm. Before the War, the lucky ones would find themselves in their own world, but hundreds or thousands of miles from home."

Typheous nods slowly. "And is the way we would need to travel known?

Gama, "Rather exstensively, yes. I'll see if one of the monks would be kind enough to copy the map from here to Theusleh. Be warned, though. While a mage cannot use magic in a Catwalk, the spirits, angels, demons, and Fae most definitely can."

Psyche chews her lip thoughtfully.

Typheous chuckles softly. "Great... would any spells cast before entering still function there?"

You say, "Gama shakes his head."

[OOC] You say, "Choices, choices..."

Typheous nods slowly. "So we have a journey that is at most 5 days... and on foot how long would it take?"

Psyche turns her gaze to Tsharing.

Gama, "Four, if you don't run into trouble."

You say, "He pauses."

Typheous raises his eyebrow. "And if we did?"

Gama_smiles_brightly, "Life is full of surprises. I suppose, though, if someone was still looking for you to travel on foot to Theusleh, they wouldn't see you coming, that way. You'd just show up in the middle of the city without warning aside from the opening of yet another Catwalk into the Node, though one for which a destination is known. Do you think anyone besides me knows where you are?"

Typheous frowns. "Only people in Wizdin." . o O ( The catwalk might be safer... in the end... )

Tsharing says, "But since we do not know what is there, we would lose any advantage from surprise. What would we surprise?"

Psyche purses her lips. "Mer, Liriel, Drapheous, Dina, and anyone else they told...unless someone else told someone..."

Gama, "True. You could end up wandering into a jealous mage's palace while he's testing fire spells."

Gama, "Do they know where you are? I thought you ended up here by mistake, and you've disappeared for a month. People know where you were supposed to be, but how many know where you are?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "what was the moon when we left?"

Typheous's music starts to fill with darkness and intrigue. "Only Drapheous might know where we are."

Tsharing says, "We were not supposed to arrive in this area."

Eclipse [to Typheous]: Yellow, just a day or two away from full.

[OOC] Typheous says, "And the moon of this month, is it yellow/golden too? or do colors not change?"

[OOC] You say, "It is indigo."

Psyche nods slowly. "Only Drapheous would have any idea where he sent us, if he sent us where he did deliberately."

Typheous turns to Psyche. "Just a second... what was the moon when we left? It was yellow, right? Perhaps that's the golden coin..."

Gama, "Strange one, Drapheous. Lori says he speaks of islands covered with palm trees where the weather is warm all year round. That is very strange, I think, since there is no place in the entire bubble of Order that is anything like that. Either he creates these places, or he knows something about the lands beyond the Order that no one else does."

Gama, "Perhaps, though the month of Spirit's moon is gold, so I think that would make a bit more sense...

Typheous chuckles softly. "He is odd.... Perhaps, yes, although that's a good four months away." (It is Entropy, right?)

Eclipse [to Typheous]: Yes, it is currently the 10th of Entropy.

Tsharing says, "Bear in mind the prophecy might not refer to the next time this comes round. It may be the time after, or the one after that."

Typheous nods slowly. "There is that as well. So, does the direct or the indirect approach sound better to us all?"

Tsharing says, "Direct."

Psyche gives Typheous a wry look. "Direct."

Typheous nods. "I prefer to walk there myself. Better the known dangers than the unknown. And it doesn't not buy us any time."

Gama, "If you intend to travel overland, I will lead you as far as Ironridge. These mountains have learned to fear me, and I would see Tsharing safely to Theusleh, if my duties here did not keep me from traveling there."

Tsharing says, "Thank you, but I can be self-sufficient."

Typheous nods his head. "Thank you for the escourt through the mountains, sir."

Psyche inclines her head. "We would appreciate the assistance to Ironridge. But..." A glance at Tsharing. "We cannot learn without some struggles on our own, can we?"

Tsharing says, "No."

Typheous glances to the door/window to see what time of the day it is, unless we're outside, in which case he just tries to guess what time it is. "We should probably be leaving, soon, however, as it has been quite a while since we knew our friend was well."

Gama, "Safe journey to all of you, then, and success in your quest. I hope your friend is safe."

Tsharing says, "As do we."

[OOC] Typheous says, "What time is it?"

Eclipse [to Typheous]: About 10am

Typheous says, "Well, shall we start out today or shall we have a day of rest?"

Tsharing says, "I can do either."

Psyche takes a deep breath. "I'd be up for a day of rest, to be sure our thoughts are completely collected."

Typheous nods. "A rest would do us good."

Tsharing says, "Then we will rest then, assuming you will allow it, master?"

Gama, "I, too, am a guest, though I sincerely doubt the Abbot would be opposed to a fellow Monk and her companions spending another night in his monastary. This place is as much a haven for wanderers and heroes as it is a place of meditation."

[OOC] You say, "Did you get Gama's last comment?"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Yes"

Typheous smiles, bowing his head slightly. "And you will be accompanying us to Ironridge, correct sir? Or shall we prepare to brave the mountains alone?"

Gama, "It seems you and your companions are in some disagreement over the matter. Let me know if your cabal decides my presence would be needed. I travel as lightly as I do quickly."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "I thought we had agreed?"

[OOC] Typheous thought he was comign with us to Ironridge.... and we would go the rest on our own.

[OOC] Eclipse thinks Typheous is the only one confused. "Psyche and Tsharing said they were willing to do it themselves."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Ah... nm then... drop the statement...."

[OOC] Psyche thought like Typheous...

[OOC] Typheous says, "Or not..."

[OOC] Typheous says, "I was just surprised when he suddenly acted like he wasn't coming."

[OOC] Psyche says, "The rest of my comment was directed at his statement about escorting Tsharing all the way to Theusleh."

!!! A checkpoint has begun. During the next few minutes, you will experience slow response time (AKA lag). Be patient, grasshopper.

!!! The checkpoint has finished. After a suspenseful 1 second, the world is saved once more.

Tsharing says, "If they have training facilities here, I would appreciate some tutoring in Do. As you said, these are hazardous lands, and we have already suffered one casualty. It was fortunate it was a bestial companion instead of one of us."

Psyche arches a brow. "I'd prefer to have some experienced guidance through the mountains, if they are as deadly as you claim." She turns her attention to Tsharing. "Unless you have the experience we need, Tsharing?"

Typheous frowns in thought. "And I don't suppose anyone heres know anything of blade work..."

Gama, "That could certainly be arranged, Tsharing. Let's see what you've learned since last we spoke."

Gama, "We have a couple skilled swordsmen. Do you study the broadsword or the long?"

Tsharing says, "Thank you. And I am only a novice still, Psyche. A lot of my knowledge stems from my lineage, and is not always reliable, as you saw when fleeing the redcaps."

Typheous chuckles softly. "I study the rapier and the art of fencing, but I can practice with those who use any blade."

Gama, "Ah, I see. A rare art. Wyzdin's academy indeed lives up to its reputation."

Psyche nods. "Then would you object to us accepting your master's offer of guidance through the mountains?" She purses her lips. . o O ( One day I should see if anyone knows how to use a knife to better advantage. )

Typheous . o O ( I could help some, it's not my forte, but I have some skill in it. )

[OOC] Psyche says, "Says the girl with 3 dots in Melee."

[OOC] You say, "He just wants an excuse to go at you with a phallic symbol."

Psyche . o O ( Just what you were looking for...another excuse to make me be nice to you. )

Psyche smiles slightly at some inward thought.

Tsharing says, "Of course not."

Psyche nods. "Then we -are- agreed. We'll be glad for your help to Ironridge."

Typheous glances over to Psyche. . o O ( Not just that, no, but it wouldn't have gone unnoticed... But if you'd rather, I'll just practice my blades. )

Gama, "Excellent. We'll leave first thing in the morning, then. Let's see if I still remember which pass leads through the mountains..."

Gama grins, "Just kidding. Little guide humor, there."

Typheous chuckles softly, shaking his head. . o O ( I hope we dont' have to listen to lame jokes the whole way.... )

[OOC] Tsharing says, "He does have survival, right?"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "I have bad memories of the guide from Eus' game, with an Intelligence / Survival pool of 2....."

[OOC] You say, "Do you think I would pull a Eus on you?"

Psyche . o O ( I'll snap. See if I don't. )

[OOC] Typheous says, "Do you want an honest answer to that?"

[OOC] You say, "With Eus not here, I mean..."

Typheous . o O ( Between him and me? Yeah. The question is whether I or he would get you to snap first. )

[OOC] You say, "Let's make it a contest? Donner Party Survivor?"

[OOC] Psyche eats the ST, a la Into the Woods.

[OOC] Typheous chuckles.... great....

[OOC] You say, "Shall we FF through to the next day and assume people get some combat training if they want it?"

[OOC] Psyche says, "Sure thing. Combat and conversation at our leisure :)"

[OOC] Typheous says, "Sure."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "OK"

[OOC] Psyche downloads, prints, and assembles the Official B-Movie Source Book.

[OOC] Psyche says, "Sooo."

You say, "Morning arrives, Gama leads you through the mountain pass for the next couple days like a tour guide who's been at the job for twenty years. You encounter a pack of six yeti devouring a half-frozen horse on the evening of the first day, but they take one look at Gama's amulet and run for higher ground. 'See?' Gama says, 'They're just like big stuffed toy bears once you teach them to respect you.' The rest of the trip passes uneventfully, and you arrive in Ironridge, a rough-and-tumble mining town like something out of a Western, where Gama bids you farewell."

[OOC] You say, "Tsharing has Davy Crockett for a mentor..."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Save us all."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Davy Crockett-Sensai."

[OOC] Typheous says, "No, it's CrockettDavySensei"

[OOC] Psyche says, "Crock-a-what?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "What time do we get to Ironridge?"

[OOC] You say, "Evening on the second day of travel."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "What's the place like?"

Typheous surveys the town. "We should probably find some place to stay for the evening." (Unless Gama has taken us somewhere to stay.)

[OOC] You say, "Ever see Princess Mononoke?"

[OOC] Psyche says, "..."

[OOC] You say, "Kidding. A little GM humor, there..."

[OOC] Typheous says, "As long as there aren't lepers armed with rifles and giant wolves running around..."

You say, "The town has a stone wall around it, and a well-worn trail leads from its north gate to the mines to the north. The wall have been painted with no small number of holy symbols of the Light Pantheon. Give me an Int + Cosmology, dif 6."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Say, what happened to Rade, anyway?"

[Roll]: Tsharing rolled Intelligence (2) and Cosmology (3) (5d10): 5, 8, 3, 6, 10 No diff given.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "3"

[OOC] Psyche says, "Air Force Basic Training."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "A timely XP investment."

[Roll]: Psyche rolled Intelligence (4) and Cosmology (0) (4d10): 2, 10, 5, 8 ** 2 successes (diff 6) **

[OOC] Tsharing says, "I meant in-game. We just leave her out in the wilderness?"

[OOC] Psyche says, "If it counts without Cosmology."

[Roll]: Typheous rolled Intelligence (2) and Cosmology (0) (2d10): 4, 1 ** BOTCH 1 (diff 6) **

[OOC] Psyche says, "Basically, we said the spirit wolf could probably catch her up to us."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Great, I think we've found the 9th layer of Hell."

Tsharing and Psyche have received your page: "Mining in our world is considered one of the most dangerous of all occupations. Here in Malakai, the line between the underground and the Hells is dangerously thin, so mining is more or less the equivelent of playing Diablo 2 with a pickaxe and a lantern."

Psyche studies the wall. "Well, they're certainly taking precautions." A shudder. "Wonder if it's enough."

Tsharing says, "The wall is not to keep things out. It is to keep things down."

[OOC] You say, "Here in Malakai, every mine is Moria..."

Typheous frowns at the walls. "Let's hope they work..."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Great...."

Psyche nods in Tsharing's direction. "I'm aware of that." Her gaze skitters away from the path to the mines.

Tsharing says, "Let us not stay longer than we need to."

Psyche says, "Agreed."

Typheous nods. "Yes.... shall we find a place to stay? And I'm not certain how we are to pay for the evening, unless one of you have some stash I don't know about ."

Psyche pages: "Based on the backstory and the 2 Resources, may I assume Psyche has cash sufficient on her for most purposes?"

Psyche has received your page: "Yes."

Psyche jerks her head in the direction of her pack. "I have some." For some reason, she says it with an amused grin.

Psyche . o O ( You don't know everything... )

Tsharing says, "Good."

Typheous nods his head to Psyche. "Thank you..." . o O ( No, as I said, you manage to surprise me almost daily... )

Psyche . o O ( Good. I like seeing you off-balance. )

Psyche shrugs. "I don't use it for anything else. Thought we might have a need for money on the trip..." She shifts her pack. "Shall we go in, then?"

You say, "The town is a strange mesh of the vainly expensive and the ridiculously makeshifted. For example, a ramshackle shop will have a sign plated with gold. A house that looks like it belongs to a successful and wealthy doctor will also have boards over one of the windows. You eventually make your way to an inn with reasonable enough prices, though still high by your standards.""

Typheous nods. "Certainly." . o O ( Because I'm not poking fun at you, or is there more to it than that? )

Psyche . o O ( That's probably it. )

Psyche pays, but only if she can't convince the proprietor that they should qualify for student rates.

Tsharing drops her stuff, such as it is, in her room.

Mr.Silver laughs, "Student rates. That's a riot. Har har har."

Typheous . o O ( And how many rooms will you be paying for.... )

You say, "Mr. Silver leads you upstairs to your rooms, limping along on his wooden leg."

[OOC] Typheous says, "Ahhh! Ahab! Kill him now!"

[OOC] You say, "Long John Silver, actually..."

Psyche . o O ( Three. I'd hate to subject either of us to your wenching. )

[OOC] Psyche says, "Parrot. Where's the parrot?"

[OOC] You say, "It's gotta suck to be a pirate reincarnated in a place with no ocean..."

Typheous . o O ( What? I'm not bringing anyone up to my room unless it's one of the two of you. Who knows what I'd catch from the wenches here. )

[OOC] You say, "Good point. A succubus probably slips in now and again..."

Psyche . o O ( *a hint of amusement* Good luck with Tsharing, then. )

Typheous will leave his things in the room, if it locks, take them back down with him if it doesn't and proceed to try to get the local girls to buy him drinks.

Typheous . o O ( you'd just love to have the two of us in your head, wouldn't you? )

Typheous has received your page: "Give me an Appearance + Subterfuge, dif 8."

Tsharing will have a wander around the town, getting the lie of the land, if nothing else presents itself.

From Typheous: [Private Roll]: Typheous rolled Appearance (3) and Subterfuge (0) (3d10): 2, 10, 4 ** 1 success (diff 8) **

(remotely) Typheous isn't out for a lot, just one or two to nurse through the night. He doesn't want to take advatage of anyone.

Psyche will leave as soon as Typheous starts thinking about local girls, and see if there's an herbalist in town to replenish her tea stocks from.

Psyche . o O ( I think I'm going to have to castrate you. )

Eclipse [to Typheous]: You manage to attract an old woman who thinks you're her grandson-in-law or something. She asks you about people you've never heard of and tells you stories about the time before the War that wander off into nowhere, but she buys you dinner and a couple drinks.

Typheous . o O ( What? I'm just having a good time. )

[OOC] You say, "So you think..."

Typheous will listen politely, noting any of the stories that might be interesting to tell later, but just humoring her for the most part.

[OOC] Typheous says, "Well, I thought he would be...."

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Get your coat, you've pulled."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Any luck with the tea?"

Eclipse [to Tsharing]: The town is definitely a bit rough around the edges, but also incredibly religious. In essence, neighbors discuss the property line with daggers, but they are careful to attend the funeral, afterward.

Eclipse [to Tsharing]: There is also quite a bit of precious metal around, though more than a small percentage of it feels like its been to hell and back.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "What does that feel like?"

[OOC] Psyche says, "Like good company in the dead of winter."

[OOC] Typheous says, "And is there any music in the inn?"

Eclipse [to Psyche]: You manage to find an herbalist name Akshara who is willing to cut you a deal, though she seems initially to think you've come to buy large quantities of garlic.

Eclipse [to Tsharing]: The gold and silver you touch during the day, which is quite a lot considering the kind of place Ironridge clearly is, almost sighs in pleasure at your touch.

[OOC] Typheous must have missed something....

Tsharing recalls a nugget of wisdom about how wealth can corrput, decide in the case of this stuff, it might be more literal, and leaves it alone.

Eclipse [to Typheous]: There is a boy's choir dressed in black and directed by a severe-looking priestess singing songs in Aster begging the Light Pantheon for mercy and protection.

Eclipse [to Typheous]: They're singing a capella in a minor key.

Typheous sings along, in Aster.

Psyche picks up some garlic in an attempt to be sociable, then gets things -she- considers to be more normal and necessary.

[OOC] You say, "Hey, at least she didn't try to sell you Soulsteel..."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Ergh."

Typheous pages: "Would it be cha + singing?"

Eclipse [to Typheous]: The old woman has now launched into a graphic description of how everyone she ever knew died horribly in the War and resulting cataclysms. Her voice makes it sound like an old woman talking about old gossip, but her vivid descriptions are enough to give Clive Barker the heebie jeebies.

Typheous has received your page: "Yes. Dif 6."

Typheous waits to sing until he can excuse himself from the table and then starts following along with the choir.

[Roll]: Typheous rolled Charisma (4) and Singing (2) (6d10): 9, 3, 5, 3, 1, 1 ** 0 successes (diff 6) **

[OOC] Typheous says, "Damn, the dice hate me tonight"

You say, "It is beginning to get quite dark, now, and men decked out in cloaks painted with holy symbols come out to light the street lanterns, all of which give off a sickly red light, instead of the yellow glow normally associated with street lamps. Yes, the glass over the lamps is quite clear."

Psyche . o O ( Okay, now -I'm- weirded out. I think I'll come back to the inn now. )

Psyche will ask a passer-by about the glowing red lamps.

Typheous . o O ( Yes... And if you see Tsharing get her back here too.... )

Typheous tries to follow the choir, but doesn't know the tune and the odd lighting outside distracts him.

Psyche will then divert her path to look for likely places to find Tsharing.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "We find each other?"

Little_girl_with_long_black_hair, "Oh, they always do that. Mom says hell breathes on Ironforge at night and changes the color of the flame. It might be good to get indoors. Demons prowl the streets at night, you know. They're not very nice."

Eclipse [to Tsharing]: The town isn't very big, so yes.

Psyche says, "I'm looking for a woman... (describes Tsharing) Have you seen her?"

Psyche . o O ( Demons prowl the streets at night. )

same_girl_who_also_looks_like_something_out_of_a_black_and_white_movie, "I saw her a little while ago. She was petting some of the gold. It likes that. We don't do awful things to it like the demons did."

Tsharing says, "Hello."

Typheous . o O ( Great.... Let's hope they don't like to get too close to those in the inns.... )

Psyche jumps a good half-foot. "There you are. Think we should head indoors, like the girl suggests..."

Tsharing says, "Yes. Did you find anything interesting here?"

Girl, "Oh yes, you should."

You say, "She skips down the street and disappears in a pool of shadow."

Psyche starts heading for the inn. "There's an herbalist who seems to think that garlic is the only herb worth selling..."

Tsharing goes back too.

You say, "You arrive."

Psyche enters and heads straight for Typheous without looking around to see where he is.

Typheous looks relieved as Tsharing and Psyche arrive in the inn. . o O ( Anything odd out there? Besides the rumors of daemons? )

Typheous says, "Good to see you two made it back."

Psyche . o O ( Want some garlic? I've got lots. )

Psyche shudders again, glancing outside. "This place is strange."

You say, "He's near the boy's choir. There's an old woman at the bar muttering things about continents sinking and rivers turning into lava. She seems a bit upset that Long John Silver has cut her off at a bottle of whiskey."

Typheous . o O ( Ummm.... That's the stangest pick up line I've ever heard. )

Tsharing says, "Yes, it is."

Typheous nods. "I've gathered as well... I think an early bedtime might be best for all of us..."

You say, "Just then, the screaming starts. None of the patrons even seems to notice."

Psyche . o O ( *fading humour* Oh, fuck... )

Psyche turns toward the door, eyes widening. "What...is that?"

Typheous turns his gaze to the door, glancing to the nice woman who bought him dinner. "Do you know what's going on outside?"

Typheous . o O ( The scream or the comment? )

I don't understand that.

You say, "Long John Silver appears at your side, "That just be the screaming of the demons in the streets. They do so make a racket when there be no one to kill outside. Sometimes a fool opens a door or peeks out a window to look, but they be short-lived, as do be all the other living things in their houses.""

Mr.Silver smiles, "It quiet the demons, though.

Psyche's face is paler than usual. . o O ( The comment was funny until they started screaming out there. ) "Is that all..." she says quietly.

Typheous's darkens. "I'll make sure my window stays closed then...."

Tsharing says, "Is there any other precaution we should take?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "Mental Note: Never play in a Call of Chtulu game with Eclispe as the GM."

Mr.Silver, "Yes. The screams be a good sign. As long as there's screaming, it means no one's died. Some nights, though, it seem a mercy that one should die so others be able to sleep in peace, but a man only needs to sleep one night in three afore he goes mad."

Mr.Silver, "Would any of you want to be trying my shepherd's pie? It be excellent with rum, if I do say so myself."

Psyche closes her eyes. "...I see..." (what kind of screams are they?)

Typheous frowns. "And is the nothing that can block the screaming out?"

Typheous's music tries to make something out of the screams.... something...

Old_woman_mutters, "Rum. There is death in that. It always turns red, you see, and then it's your blood in the bottle..."

[OOC] Psyche watches Psyche rack up Madness.

[OOC] Tsharing says, "Red rum...red rum..."

Mr.Silver, "You do get used to it, in time, or you go mad and open a window. It's the only way to stop the screaming."

[OOC] You say, "The screams sound human."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Human, in pain, human?"

Typheous nods slowly. "Have any mages tried to do anything to stop it?

Mr.Silver, "Sometimes one from Theusleh do, but they either leave quickly or take up residence in the town cemetary. The ones who stay do visit my inn, from time to time, though, on nights when the screaming stops. Even the dead long to drink, sometimes."

Tsharing says, "Are there any here tonight?"

From Psyche: [Private Roll]: Psyche rolled Willpower (8) (8d10): 7, 1, 1, 6, 9, 3, 1, 8 ** 0 successes (diff 8) **

Mr.Silver, "None that I be aware of, no."

Typheous nods slowly. "And have those mages ever tried any of their power to at least block the screams?"

Psyche pages: "This can't be easy on her Soft-Hearted flaw, not when she can't be sure there aren't any humans out there."

Mr.Silver, "It be a strange thing, the screams. It be hard to tell if they be real, sounds in your head, or the dead souls screaming in terror at the sight of the demons loud enough to sing through the Shroud. If it be so, they never tell me so. They just come here to drink, you see."

Psyche has received your page: "True, but unless he's lying to you, the screams aren't actually human. Still, listening to screams all night is enough to put anyone ill at ease..."

Psyche keeps glancing over at the door, then closing her eyes, hands knotted tightly into fists. . o O ( They sound real. They sound -so- real... )

Typheous chuckles. "Just thought I would ask..." . o O ( Damn, I'd rather the fae.... )

(remotely) Psyche could try blocking her hearing with a Life 2 effect, right?

Typheous . o O ( Yes, but they are *not* Just don't do anything crazy like open the door. )

Psyche . o O ( *tightly* I know.' )

Psyche has received your page: "Would require Life 3 to Alter Self."

Tsharing doesn't exactly seem happy with the screams, but doesn't seem to let them distract her.

Psyche pages: "Bah, figures."

[OOC] You say, "Time to give the Euthanatos some booze?"

[OOC] Psyche is thinking about it :)

Typheous frowns, his music giving up and trying to be happy. . o O ( Perhaps we should get drunk this evening.... )

Psyche starts to glare at Typheous, then drops her gaze, sighing quietly. . o O ( I think...I think it's either that, or go upstairs and slit my wrists. )

[OOC] Psyche says, "Clippy, have I told you recently that you're terribly cruel?"

Old_woman_muttering, "Real, so real. They don't die. The demons take them. Every night, they bring them into the streets and torture them until they scream. I know. I know. It's real. It's all real..."

Psyche says, "I wouldn't mind the dead. They can be good company. These demons..." She whirls on the old woman. "Shut your mouth, bitch!"

Typheous frowns, looking back over to the bartender. "Have anything strong and semi palatable?" . o O ( I'd rather you do the first, even if I get a hang over from it.... )

Old_woman_mutters_to_a_stop, "No one believes. No one ever believes..."

Psyche . o O ( *semi-panicking, to herself* They can't be real. Oh, gods, they can't be... )

[OOC] Psyche says, "Tsharing, the pillar of stability."

Typheous . o O ( Don't listen to the crazy old woman. I don't want to have to restrain you, Psyche. )

Mr.Silver, "I have a fruit wine to soften your palette. I'll follow it up with two bottles of rum mixed with fruit juice. Anything for your friend?"

Typheous chuckles. "The semi-palatable was for her, I'll drink anything you have."

Tsharing says, "I will be all right. It is a question of being selective about what you listen to."

[OOC] You say, "Should I ever be allowed to ST an Exalted game?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "that might be interesting....."

[OOC] You say, "The similarities between the tone and some of the themes of this M:EF game and Exalted frighten me more with each sourcebook I read..."

Psyche glances over at Tsharing. "Score one for your way," she murmurs to herself, then pauses. "Perhaps." She turns back to the bar and Typheous.

You say, "Long John Silver returns with the rum and fruit wine. "Sorry it took so long. Polly do not like it when I take her rum away. Even a parrot do need to drink, sometimes."

[OOC] Typheous chuckles...

Psyche mutters, "With these screams..."

Tsharing pages: "Do I need a Meditation or WP roll to remain so blase?"

Typheous smirks. "Here, I can understand that. I'll have one as strong as you can make it." He glances to Psyche. "Do you want me to have to carry you upstairs or not?" . o O ( This was not how I imaginged getting you drunk... )

Tsharing has received your page: "Wits + Meditation, dif 8 to block out the screams."

Psyche shakes her head. "I don't care." . o O ( This was not something I ever imagined acquiescing to. Are you sure he's not lying? ) She looks toward the door once again.

[OOC] Eclipse giggles madly.

[Roll]: Tsharing rolled Wits (2) and Meditation (3) (5d10): 3, 9, 5, 10, 10 ** 3 successes (diff 8) **

[OOC] Psyche fillets the ST.

[OOC] You say, "Hot damn, Tsharing..."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Screams? What screams?"

Typheous turns back to the innkeeper. "Make that two." . o O ( I'm not about to let you or anyone else test that theory, ok? )

Old_woman_muttering, "Will stay outside tomorrow night. Better to scream than to hear the screams. Yes, better..."

Psyche . o O ( Then lock me in a room with no windows and take away my knife. )

Typheous . o O ( How about I just stay in your room to be sure? )

Typheous turns to look at the old woman, making sure she's not moving to open the door or anything silly like that.

Psyche glances at the old woman. . o O ( Maybe she will. Sounds like it might be a blessing to her. *beat* I don't know. )

Typheous . o O ( Yes, but it sounded like it would take the rest of us with her... )

You say, "Everyone in the common room is a bit tense, watching one another for a sign that someone will try to open the door.""

[OOC] Psyche votes that Typheous make Psyche drink up in her room so that Eclipse can end for the night and Tsharing doesn't have to be bored.

[OOC] You say, "Doh! Didn't even notice the time."

[OOC] You say, "Doh! Didn't even notice the time."

Psyche . o O ( Not tonight. Just let her stay up. )

Psyche . o O ( Not tonight. Just let her stay *out tomorrow. )

[OOC] You say, "Everyone willing to FF the night with the drinking and screaming and stuff so we can end for the night?"

[OOC] Typheous says, "Sure...."

[OOC] Psyche says, "Typh drags Psyche and the bottle upstairs, and we'll send you another horrendously long log? :)"

[OOC] Tsharing says, "I guess."

[OOC] You say, "Okay, that's where we'll end for the night, then. Vote for RP point?"
