So who the hell are these characters, anyway? Here's a character profile sheet for the interested. (Now in new, no-scanner-necessary sprite form!)
Kirin Torak:
Physical description: An elf. Long, blond hair tied into a ponytail. Has been described as bearing a vague resemblance to David Duchovny, although he will deny this thoroughly. Wears a suit and tie (sans suit jacket) and a long trenchcoat.
Personality: A cynic, he tends to be very deadpan and generally more laid-back than most of the others. He has a very good talent for hunches. Kirin has the strange distinction of being an optimistic pessimist -- in other words, despite being cynical he generally bears a hope that someday things will get better. He HATES stereotypes. Is the unofficial captain of the Satellite of Avatars; he also recently became an official Subreality muse. He hates mushy sentimental stuff like the plague. Oh, and whatever you do, DON'T call him "elf boy." He really, REALLY hates that.
Stars in: Second World (a work in progress)
Professions: Detective; Universal Investigation Agency agent; Subreality Muse
Riff types: Dark, Monty Python
Guards against: Grammar, avatar bashing
Alexis Davenport:
Physical description: Auburn-hair shoulder long. One large lock is brushed over the right side of her face to hide an eyepatch over her right eye. Slightly long features. Wears a black sweater, dress slacks and a long overcoat.
Personality: Devoutly feminist. Alexis has no tolerance for crap and is annoyed by over-the-top sexual innuendo. Tends to be seen as cold by people, but can be a very warm and funny person when she's not playing enforcer. Although cynical, she also carries an optimistic streak and will often argue against overly pessimistic or dark ideas. There are occasional hints that she shows an interest in Kirin; however, this is rarely played upon.
Stars in: Greyforce (actually co-star) (Work in progress)
Professions: superheroine (former); private eye
Riff types: Grammar, avatar bashing, singing
Guards against: Hentai, Monty Python
Hibichi Isuto:
Physical description: Messy black hair. Round, friendly face. Bears a vague resemblance to Keiichi from "Ah! Megami-Sama!". Wears a white t-shirt, jeans and a long light-blue vest jacket. He also has an over-the-shoulder sword sheath which contains a wooden katana.
Personality: Friendly, open and cheerful most of the time, he doesn't quite have the same cynical streak as Kirin and Alexis. An admitted otaku, he takes great delight in his fanboy tendencies. He makes most of the inappropriate comments; however, he IS a teenage boy and therefore has something of an excuse.
Stars in: Vampire Hunter Hibichi
Professions: Vampire hunter
Riff types: Hentai, fanboy
Guards against: Japanese bashing
SI Bodger:
Physical description: Short, black hair. Glasses. In-proportion features. Wears a white t-shirt, jeans, tennis shoes and a cape fastened by a brooch with the letters "SI" on it. Slightly idealized body.
Personality: Almost embarassingly neurotic. SI Bodger is wishy-washy, self-conscious and somewhat vindictive -- in fact, she goes against the basic image of the self-inserted character. Despite being a self-insert, SI Bodger seems to lack the abilities of one, and is all too aware of it. Carries some technological ability of which she gave herself, but tends to forget various details (like an off switch, for example). Although it is rather obvious she sports a crush for Joel Robinson, she will deny it -- usually very violently. In Subreality, SI Bodger and Bodger are two seperate entities, and the farther away SI Bodger moves from Bodger, the stupider she gets...
Stars in: Subreality stories
Professions: Self-insert; slacker
Riff types: All, but only when there
are less than three of the regular cast (more than that and she's incapable
of riffing)
Crow 2:
Physical description: Exact replica of Crow T. Robot.
Personality: Carries some of Crow's basic personality traits; however, there is a touch of Marvin the robot in Crow 2's circuitry. Tends to be a lot more pessimistic and grumpy than the original, and seems to mourn his lot in life. He also seems to have an eerie ability to guess future developments in fanfiction. Lately, it also appears that he has a slightly sadistic side.
Stars in: N/A (solely a character of the MiSTing world)
Professions: MiSTer
Riff types: All (highly compatible)
Guards against: None
Dark Kirin:
Physical description: Exactly like Kirin, but with black skin, white pupiless eyes and white hair.
Personality: Extremely sinister. Almost seems like he'd be more appropriate as a villain in a legitimate piece of fanfiction. Extremely competant and highly intelligent. Gives people the creeps (and this includes his companions). Is obsessed with staying on top and hates to lose. To him, the SoA experiment is merely an amusing side diversion. Recently, he has broken away from the other Mads in his pursuit of Joel, whom he's rather resentful of after Joel caught him in a rather. . . FRAGILE state of mind in Crossover Sign.
Stars in: N/A
Professions: Mad; evil little *bleeping
bleepity-bleep*
Dark Alexis:
Physical description: Exactly like Alexis, but with D. Kirin's color scheme
Personality: An inventor and mechanic, but petty. Can shift between competance and incompetance at will. Enjoys pushing D. Kirin's buttons, but avoids doing it to extremes because he scares the heck out of her. Continues to work for him only because she doesn't know what he'll do if she DOESN'T. Currently main Mad in the SoA experiments, although she's almost a puppet figure in some respects since she's STILL doing what Dark Kirin asks her to do. . .
Stars in: N/A
Professions: Mad
Dark Hibichi:
Physical description: Like Hibichi, but with same monochomatic color scheme as D. Kirin and D. Alexis
Personality: A whiner and seems to lack any real talent other than muscle. :Like D. Alexis, he only continues to work under D. Kirin because he scares the heck out of him. More annoying than evil.
Stars in: N/A
Professions: Mad
Joel Robinson:
Physical Description: Slightly sleepy eyes, shaggy brown hair, slightly gangly
Personality: An optimist, always looking on the brighter side of things. Is prone to the occasional bout of weirdness. Highly loyal to friends.
Extra Notes: Granted, Joel isn't actually one of MY characters per se; however, he does deserve mention since he does play a rather large role in the series. The Joel represented in the series is actually a slightly romanticized version; other people may view his character differently. (ESPECIALLY after Soultaker. . . *grumble*)
Stars in: MST3K (Seasons 1-5); Somewhere in Time and Space; Musings
Professions: Hot Fish Shop Manager;
TTPCTS Club Manager; wanderer, MiSTer (depends on continuity)
The Chibis:
Physical Description: Uh, they're Chibis. Of anime and video game men. 'Nough said.
Personalities: Varies from Chibi to Chibi. The most predominant one is Chibi Duo, who seems to be the unofficial leader of the pack.
Extra Notes: The Chibis actually consist of my pocket bishounen collection; however, I didn't want to just have them sitting on the site for no reason. Therefore, they were incorporated into the series in Glimmer. Expect a lot more weird stuff with these guys.
Stars In: Various video games and animes.
Profession: Token mascots.
