Second Annual Berkzydeco Dance- Sat, June 26th

Schedule:
4:00 to 7:00 PM - Potluck dinner and warm up your dance shoes to CDs
7:00 to 10:00 PM - Lil Anne and Hot Cayenne
10: 00 PM and beyond – bring your instruments for an acoustic jam and a little howlin’ at the moon

The dance will be held outdoors on a 24ft. x 24ft. dance floor. If rain is expected a tarp will be erected to shelter the dance floor. Bring lawn chairs for seating , flashlights, and insect repellent (A bug and weather update will be posted on this website as the date approaches) Tables will be provided for setting out the potluck dinner, A kitchen will be available for any dishes that need re-heating. Coolers and plasticware will also be provided.

Accommodations:

Sandisfield is a small rural town in the heart of the Berkshires and offers few overnight accommodations. Try the New Boston Inn (413) 258 –4477. (3 miles away) There are many other possibilities in the Great Barrington area (16 miles). Lee (16 miles) or Winsted, Conn. (16 miles)

Camping:

There is tent camping in the rough available on the property, both in the woods and in some open field locations. Campers should arrive by four o’clock to allow time for setting up camp. Bring flashlights. Water is available from outside spigots.

Directions:

From the Mass. Pike – Get off at exit #2 (Lee exit). At the bottom of the ramp turn left, cross underneath the Pike, then turn immediately right on Rte 102 towards Stockbridge. After 100 yards take a left on Tyringham Rd. (Look for a sign saying Tyringham and Monterey). Stay on this road for 9.8 miles till you come to an intersection with Rte. 23 in Otis. Continue across the intersection onto Town Hill Rd, which becomes unpaved for several miles. Continue on Town Hill for 5 miles until you come down a steep hill and intersect with Rte 57 in Sandisfield. Turn left on Rte. 57 for about 200 ft. and look for Hammertown Rd. (dirt) on the left. There will be a sign for the Sandisfield Arts Center, a large white church building set back from the road. Continue up Hammertown Rd. about ˝ mile and look for signs for Berkzydeco Parking on the left.

From Connecticut - From Hartford go north on Rte 91 and take the exit for Bradley Airport. Take Rte 20 into Granby , then head north on Rte 189 to Granville, Ma. Take Rte 57 west until you come down a long steep hill and intersect with Rte 8 in New Boston, a village within Sandisfield. Alternatively take Conn. Rte 8 north through Winsted and into New Boston. At the New Boston Store follow Rte 8 across the Farmington River bridge and continue straight onto Rte 57 towards New Marlboro (Rte 8 curves sharply right). Continue on Rte 57 for 3.3 miles and look on the right side for a two story gray house with a green metal roof, and a sign saying Sandisfield Arts Center. Turn right here onto Hammertown Rd. and continue for ˝ miles.

From Great Barrington, Ma - Take Rte 23 east then bear right on Rte 57 through Hartsville and New Marlboro. Continue on Rte 57 into Sandisfield. Rte 57 turns sharply to the left and drops down a long steep hill. At the bottom of the hill look for Town Hill Road on the left and shortly thereafter Hammertown Rd. on the left. Look for the Sandisfield Arts Center sign. Follow Hammertown Rd. for ˝ mile.

Caution to All – Hammertown Rd. is steep and very narrow. In some places cars may have a difficult time passing each other. Drive slowly and be aware of places to pull over. Do not park on Hammertown Rd.
