Name- INFORMATION
Sara- 21 years old. Morgan mare. This girl has an amazing story. She will only be used a couple times a week for the new comers.
Here's Sara's story.
Sara was bought by me a couple years ago. She came with Bay. They were just sent out to the pasture because the owners were older like myself and not as active with them. When I found these horses they were very fuzzy, and un taken care of. Well, they were handled but had not been shaved. When I brought them back they were happy and I fell in love with them. They became perfect for our lesson program. Then Sara started to colic but not so severe that she couldn't get out of it. This was normally during the hot summer days. Needless to say she got so severe that she almost was badly hurt. I called the vet and he said that there was hay blocking her large intestine so that she couldn't go to the bathroom as quick as she needed to. So I sent her to Tuft's Animal Hospital. They were unable to get the hay out because it was too far away to reach by hand. They said just put her down she'll never be the same. Luckily, I said no and brought her back home. I fed her a slury that has senior feed, hay pellets and steaming hot water. She loved it. As the weeks went by no signs of colic at all and she was pooping again, almost like nothing had happened. I do not know if she is still in pain or not, but I think shes absolutly fine. She has the energy of a 5 year old. I am so pleased with her progress and hope she lives for a few more years.
