The Taxi Ride

The sun has completely set
The night has fallen
A blanket of ambience surrounds you, now
The destination unknown to you
Your hand unintentionally rises into the air
A yellow transporter device ceases its forward motion in front of you
You’re off

Yellow-orange streetlight fills the dark interior
You watch…
As darkness engulfs the past in the rear view mirror
And blurred streetlights slowly segregate themselves from your vision
The rain drops…
From an earlier rainfall
Distort provoking images of the city
While offering the image of a slow flame

Suddenly,
Ambient sound ceases to exist
You are an entity of the present
A rain drop
A street light
The pavement
All relate somehow
To the divine moment of peace you are experiencing
You are free, now
You feel careless, yet intimidated

The long night comes to a close
As you take your last right turn of the evening
You’ve discovered your destination
And your worries are no more
