After spending some quality time with her daughter Alexis was feeling much better. She wanted to spend as much time holding Kristina as possible, making up for missed time. Though she was admittedly biased Kristina was pretty much perfect and seemed content to lie in her mother's arms looking up at her, as she was doing now. She had sent Jax out five minutes earlier asking him to bring her some things from home, hoping familiar things would help her remember. It was a legitimate assignment but also a good reason to be alone when her visitor came. Alexis glanced at the clock, he was already late.
Two minutes later Luke burst into the room holding another bouquet this one made up mostly of tiny blue flowers. It wasn't until he came closer that Alexis realised what they were.
"Sorry, I never could resist a good pun," he told her as he added the forget-me-nots to the vase of flowers he had brought the day before.
"Very funny." She told him dryly as she readjusted Kristina to a more comfortable position.
"I knew you would like them. So what's new Pussycat? How is the little one doing? She's definitely beginning to look like ... hey, gardenias do you know who sent them?"
"My brother Stefan."
"Really, how interesting."
"Luke, I need your help."
"Well, I'm always glad to help a lady in distress." He grinned. "What can I do for you, full body massage? Sponge bath?"
"Are you always this gross?"
"It's a gift."
"I need some information." She told him, hoping they could get down to business.
"Ah so you finally realised your not getting the whole story? Just call me Answer Man, what do you want to know?"
"Everything."
"Sweetheart, half of everything would take me weeks to explain, how about we narrow it down a little?"
"How little?"
"One questions and I'll give you a completely unedited answer."
"One question, that's it?"
"For today. I'll let you ask one question every time I come see you with the guarantee of the absolute truth. After all we don't want to overload that lovely brain of yours."
"Five questions and I'll worry about my own brain, thank you." She countered.
"Two questions and I don't tell the kangaroo what you're up to."
"Four questions and I agree to look the other way next time you find yourself in trouble with the law."
"Natasha you wound me. What makes you think I've ever found myself on the wrong side of the law?" She merely rolled her eyes in response. "All right, three questions, I won't tell Jax, you'll look the other way and I'll throw in a bonus piece of information this evening."
"Deal." She put out her hand and couldn't help but feel she was making a deal with the devil, or at least his side kick.
"Okay princess you've got three questions, make them good."
"What about my bonus info?"
"Ah, I prefer to save the best for last.'
"Fine. Tell me what you know about my marriage to Jax?"
"Jasper? I'm disappointed, three questions and he's number one?" Luke sounded absolutely disgusted.
"Just answer the question."
"Fine. You and Jax were married in Las Vegas in a place called The Chapel of Bells after a non-existent courtship. Unless you count that time the two of you spent together in the desert. You went to Italy on your honeymoon and came by my club a few times with Ken and Barbie. You were married to each other for less than a year after which you got an annulment. There were some rumours as to your reasons for getting married but they were never confirmed."
"What rumours?"
"Rumours that your marriage to Jax and the marriage of Ken and Barbie were both part of some elaborate plan to regain control of Barbie's dream house of fashion."
"Who the hell are Ken and Barbie?'
"Ned Ashton and Chloe Morgan. And there is your third and final answer, thank you for playing our game."
"Wait a minute that didn't count."
"Ah, but you asked three questions and I answered them, that was our deal."
"You cheated." She accused angrily though she kept her voice low, as Kristina was almost asleep.
"No, I played fair and square sweetheart. You have to learn to be more careful. I'll be back tomorrow, you can ask me three more then." He told her as he walked towards the door.
"Luke wait, what about the piece of information you promised me?" She asked determined to at least get something out of this meeting.
"Oh right, two gifts in this room didn't come from the men you think they did."
