"Jax you don't need to do that."
"Do what, propose to the woman I love?" he asked trying to keep things light though he knew she was serious.
"Just because we're going to have a child together doesn't mean we have to get married."
"You don't want to marry me?" he sounded hurt and Alexis tried to explain herself.
"No, I mean yes, I mean..."
"Alexis do you love me?"
"Of course I do."
"Then marry me."
"It isn't that simple Jax, you know it isn't. I loved Ned and look what happened when we tried to get married."
"You got scared."
"Yes, but it was more than that. Jax, we love each other, we're having a baby. Can't that be enough, at least for now?"
He looked into her eyes and hated the fear that he saw there. He would show her that she had nothing to fear. Someday when he proved himself she would marry him, he knew it in his heart. "Okay, we'll table the discussion, for now."
"Thank you."
"Um can I ask you one more question?"
"Depends on what it is," she answered warily. Jax was a master negotiator and he didn't give up easily.
"What's your opinion on living together?"
"Jax, you promised."
"I promised we wouldn't discuss marriage and we're not. We're discussing living together."
"No we're not."
"Why not? Come on, think of the perks," he added beginning to run his fingers lightly down her arm, "breakfast in bed, lunch in bed, supper in..."
"Jax if we live together I am not going to become some kind of sex kitten."
"Ah ha, so your saying you will live with me if I promise to let you out of bed, occasionally." He winked suggestively.
"You're horrible," she cried hitting him with the pillow.
"Seriously," he said when she finally stopped laughing, "tell me you'll think about it."
"I will." She knew she would probably be able to think of little else.
They left Alaska the following morning. Jax was not in the best of moods as he had not gotten much sleep. Actually it wasn't the lack of sleep that upset him, it was the lack of something else. He had wanted to spend the night making love to Alexis but things hadn't worked out as he'd planned.
Last night...
When they headed upstairs Jax followed Alexis into the guest room and began to undo the buttons on his shirt, his jacket was still downstairs.
"And what do you think you're doing?" she asked smiling.
"I'm getting undressed," came the easy reply.
"I can see that but why are you doing it here?" She asked, a little more seriously.
"Because all your stuff is here, besides the bed's bigger than in my room," he said as he removed his shirt.
"Jax you can't sleep here. He realized she was serious."
"Why not?"
"Because this is your parents house." She responded as though that explained everything.
"So?"
"So, we can't sleep together, they'll know."
"Alexis you're pregnant, chances are they already know we've slept together." He had obviously chosen the wrong time to be logical, as it only seemed to make Alexis more upset.
"You've completely missed the point."
"Obviously." She huffed.
"Alexis what's really going on?' Realizing there was no other way Alexis began to confide.
"I don't remember everything about the night we... made love but I do remember..." she paused as though looking for the right words and finally settled on, "we we're very happy." Jax looked slightly confused.
"Of course we were happy Alexis."
"No," she said becoming frustrated, "we were VERY happy." She blushed slightly remembering just how "happy" she and Jax had got that night. Suddenly realization dawned on Jax and he did the unforgivable, he laughed.
"So its not that you don't want my parents to know we're having sex, you just don't want them to know we're having good sex?"
"This isn't funny," she stated trying to maintain her dignity in what was becoming an increasingly embarrassing situation. When he finally stopped laughing Jax turned to her.
"I'm sorry, Alexis. You know I love you and I love making love to you but if you're honestly that uncomfortable I can wait, providing of course that you can."
"I think I can restrain myself," Alexis replied lightly though in truth she was beginning to wonder.
Jax had gone back to his room shortly after leaving them both unsatisfied.
Now they were home, Jax thought, things will be different. He opened the door for Alexis and was quickly confronted with a bouncing Kristina.
"You guys are home. How was you're trip? Anything exciting happen, anything new?" Jax had to laugh at Kristina's obvious ignorance of the word subtle.
"Yes we had a great trip and yes your sister told me about the baby."
"What baby?" Ned asked as he stood in the still open doorway looking from Jax to Kristina, and finally to Alexis.
