Jax looked over at Alexis once more and had to smile. She was obviously trying to figure out where they were going but refused to ask again. He had already refused to tell her twice and he could tell she was quickly getting annoyed.
"We'll be there in five minutes," he assured her. Sure enough Jax soon pulled the car into a long driveway. Before long a large house came into view. It was a white three story house with large windows and a wrap around deck. It looked like a storybook house, where only good things could happen.
"Jax what is this?"
"Before you say anything come look inside." He took her by the hand and led her into the front hall. "This is the family room he told her excitedly leading her into a large room on the left. "The kitchen is... never mind it's probably safer if you don't know."
"Very funny." She replied hitting him.
"Come on the best part is upstairs." The second floor consisted of several rooms two of which had been furnished as offices. He knew they would each require a home office once the baby arrived.. There were also two spacious bedrooms. "Guestrooms," he told her, "at least for now." He then led her up the stairs to the third floor. The entire level consisted of the master bedroom which was divided by a half wall. The larger side of the room featured a king size bed and various other furnishings. The smaller side contained an antique oak crib and almost every teddy bear in the western hemisphere.
"It's beautiful Jax, I just..."
"Wait, please wait Lex. I want you to understand. I'm not asking you to marry me again. Don't get me wrong I want to marry you again but I understand you're not ready for that. Whether or not we get married, our child is going to have a wonderful life because she has two parents that love her."
"Her?"
"That's right, I know you had your heart set on a little Jasper but I've got a feeling Jorja's coming first."
"First?"
"Well we can always try for a Jasper later. Anyway Alexis I love you and no piece of paper is going to change that. I hope that someday we can get married but even if we never do you will always be the wife of my heart."
Jax was right about everything, and one year later Jorja watched intently from her grandmother's arms as her parents exchanged vows. It was a small ceremony with only family. John and Lady Jane had spent most of their time in Port Charles since Jorja's birth, anxious to spend time with their first grandchild. After the ceremony Jax took Jorja from his mother.
"Well squirt, you're mom and I are finally married, our plan worked."
"And what plan was that?" Alexis asked coming up behind him.
"Well it was really Jorja's idea, our daughter is a smart girl, just like her mother and she knew that if we showed you just how fabulous family life can be eventually you'd come around."
"Oh really so this was all your doing?" Alexis asked her daughter. Jorja smiled, revealing her perfect dimples and Jax and Alexis both marvelled at how beautiful she was.
"You realize with those dimples she's going to be able to get away with anything?" Jax pointed out.
"Yeah just like her father." Lady Jane interrupted their playful banter.
"Come dears we want to get a family photo." Alexis stood with Jax, Lady Jane and John, holding Jorja in her arms and not for the first time realized how lucky she was. She was part of a real family, it was a life she had always dreamed of, and it was wonderful. Of course she would have to wait another year for Jasper to finally make his appearence.
