Sonny, Jason and Brenda walked into Luke's and sat down at a table. Sonny immediately began to look around in search of Luke. However his eyes stopped when they saw a set of fabulous legs sitting at the bar. The woman to whom the legs belonged was turned so that he couldn't see her face. It didn't matter, he would know those legs anywhere. He smiled as he watched her foot, ensconced in an impossibly high heel tapping out the rhythm of the music. Jason noticed Sonny's attention was elsewhere and turned in an attempt to see what had distracted him. Of course, it was the woman at the bar. From what Jason could see she had great legs and a killer body. In fact...
"Hey!" Brenda yelled punching both men on the shoulder in an effort to regain their attention.
Jason turned to face her but Sonny was in a world all his own, or more specifically all their own. Brenda watched as Sonny practically drooled over the woman at the bar. Actually she was happy to see him taking an interest in someone. Since he left Carly a month earlier he had been decidedly moody and sullen. That was the main reason she had dragged him to the bar with her and Jason, the man needed to have some fun. She waited patiently for Sonny to go over and speak to the woman but after ten minutes she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Getting up from the table she approached the bar. When she got closer she saw Luke smiling from behind the bar at the woman in question.
"I gotta say I'm loving this new side of you Natasha." He was telling her as she raised her glass in salute before taking another drink.
"Um excuse me." Brenda said tapping the woman on the shoulder.
"Yes?"
"Alexis!" Brenda yelped in surprise. She couldn't believe the mystery woman was Alexis, partially because of the very UN-Alexis like outfit she was wearing. Oh well just because it wasn't a stranger didn't mean her plans were ruined. "Um, we were wondering if you would like to come join us?" Brenda asked indicating the table where Jason and Sonny were sitting. Alexis turned to look at the two men, causing Jason to choke on whatever he was drinking. Apparently the front view was even more impressive than the back.
Alexis couldn't help laughing at the way both Sonny and Jason were looking at her. Perhaps this evening wouldn't be a total waste after all. She had come to Luke's wanting to celebrate the fact that Ned had signed over all parental rights after she showed him the file she had on him. She was also celebrating the fact that she would be able to bring Kristina home in just two days. However despite these facts she had begun to feel slightly depressed. The reason for this was now watching her move towards him, wearing the same grin she had been trying to forget all evening.
Sonny couldn't believe it when Alexis came to their table with Brenda. She sat down between Sonny and Jason, across from Brenda. Sonny watched her, the way she was moving, the way she smiled. She was, to use her own word, tipsy though he was sure she was not completely drunk.
"So what are you doing here this evening?" Brenda asked since both men appeared to be occupied ogling.
"I'm celebrating." She told them and as if on cue Luke arrived at the table with a glass which he handed to Alexis.
"Rum?" Sonny asked.
"I like rum." She told him and he thought of the last time she had told him that.
"How many has she had?" Sonny asked Luke.
"Well, let's see, after number three she flirted with Mac then after number five there was the dance with Taggert..."
"What?"
"Please don't speak of me as though I'm not here." Alexis interrupted. "And I like Taggert." She told Sonny, It's a shame he had to go back to the station, he's a wonderful dancer."
"Not as good as me." He replied cockily.
"Of course not Sonny no one is as good as you." She replied dutifully batting her eyelashes to complete the effect and causing Brenda to burst out laughing.
"What are you celebrating?" Sonny asked trying to ignore Brenda.
"Pardon?" Alexis asked as though she didn't quite understand.
"You said you were celebrating." He reminded her wondering just how tipsy she was.
"Oh right, I'm celebrating my freedom."
"From what?"
"None of your business Mr Dimples." She told him as she took a drink then suddenly turned pensive. "I just realised all the men I get involved with have dimples." She mused almost to herself. "I never really thought about it before but maybe it's some sort of fixation or something. I should ask Cam next time I see him."
"Cam?"
"Zander's father, he's a shrink."
"Zander's father is a shrink? Where have I been?"
"Carlyland, trapped on the spinning teacups."
At this Sonny frowned, Brenda laughed and Jason looked confused.
"More like the tower of terror." Brenda said still laughing.
"Anyway yes Zander's father is a shrink and before you ask I'm not seeing him professionally."
"I didn't say a thing." Sonny told her his hands up in surrender. "Although I don't suppose it would hurt..."
"Hey, between the two of us I think you're the one most in need of a psychiatric consultation."
"You're the one who admitted having a dimple fixation."
"That's not true I didn't even think about Jax or Ned's dimples until tonight."
"What is your relationship to Cam?" Sonny asked.
"What?"
"You said you weren't seeing him professionally, does that mean you're seeing him personally?"
"Again, that would be none of your business."
"Does he have dimples?" He asked almost sullenly.
"That depends on where you look."
"What the hell does that mean?" Sonny demanded as soon as he realised the implications of her statement
"So why are you here?" She asked Brenda hoping to change the subject.
"We're celebrating our divorce." She told her looking over at Jason and smiling. In response he took her hand in his and smiled back.
"Looks like a friendly divorce."
"We decided that if we really wanted to give this a chance we should get divorced and start dating, like normal people." Brenda explained.
"Oh but fake marriages can be so much fun. Jax and I had a great time. Of course that was before he turned into an ass."
"That's right I forgot you and Jax were married, how was that?"
"Okay I guess, the sex was great."
Sonny looked at Alexis as though she had just grown another head.
"You didn't have sex with Jax. The marriage was in name only." He told her sounding more than a little upset.
"Of course it was. I was just kidding." She told them thinking it was probably best she keep her mouth shut since she obviously couldn't control what she said.
Brenda suddenly smiled mischievously.
"You know I always thought the birthmark on his left butt cheek looked like a half moon." She commented.
"Right cheek." Alexis corrected automatically then blushed when she heard Brenda laugh.
"I knew it, I knew it." She shouted gleefully.
"Well, can you blame me, the man is build like an Adonis and I was dating Ned at the time."
"Can we talk about something else?" Sonny asked moodily rather disconcerted by the mental image he had just had of Jax's aforementioned birthmark.
"But Brenda and I have nothing else in common, except you." Again Alexis sat silently cursing herself. She needed to think before she spoke.
Brenda was however really beginning to enjoy herself. She had suspected there was something between Sonny and Alexis since the first time she saw them together. Unfortunately every time she asked Jason about it he would refuse to talk about it. Now she was witnessing first hand the connection between these two, and it was quite a thing to behold.
"Okay so Jax is off limits lets discuss Sonny."
"Let's not." Sonny suggested
"What's the matter, scared?"
"Of the two of you?" He asked his eyes moving from Alexis to Brenda and back again. "Yes."
"So who want's another drink?" Luke asked approaching the table. Everyone raised their hand.
Luke returned moments later with the drinks and a wicked little grin.
"I've got a message for you Tash." He told Alexis as he handed her yet another rum, despite Sonny's disapproving glare.
"Please leave the message after the beep, beep." She stated apparently quite serious. Luke couldn't help laughing but nonetheless dutifully repeated the message.
"Ned called, he said something about you giving Taggert some file, apparently he's now looking for a lawyer."
"Tell him to try the courthouse, they usually hang out there, or Starbucks"
"Wow you're really gone aren't you Tash?" Luke observed.
"Luke do you know what I love about you?" She asked drawing him closer until they were face to face.
"No, what?"
"Absolutely nothing."
"Hey you wound me Tash."
"I can't help it Luke, I have to be careful who I love. All the men I love turn into rats, it's kind of like Cinderella in reverse except they were mice.
"Weren't the mice in Cinderella turned into horses?" Brenda asked.
"Yeah but two became the carriage driver and footman."
"But the prince wasn't a rodent." Brenda pointed out trying to help.
"Yes but princes don't exist in real life, actually they do but they're usually related to me already, or psychotic, or both.
"Okay Alexis I think it's time to go home." Sonny said as he stood up.
"You can't send me to my room, I'm not blonde." She objected.
"I'm not sending you to your room I'm just offering you a ride home." Sonny told her soothingly.
"And then what? Are you going to put me to bed?" She asked deliberately trying challenge him.
"Sure, do you want me to sing you a lullaby?"
"You probably don't know any."
"You'd be surprised what I know counselor."
"I highly doubt anything you do would surprise me, mob boy."
"Alleged mob boy."
"I knew you were going to say that."
"Are you calling me predictable?"
"If the trench coat fits..."
Before she could finish he grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her close capturing her lips with his. She tasted of rum and sweetness and he wanted more. She seemed equally willing, bringing her hands up into his hair and holding him to her. Suddenly Sonny released her and grinned.
"Were you expecting that counselor?"
"You don't play fair." She complained.
"I never claimed to." He told her still grinning. "Now I believe you still haven't answered my question."
"Which was?"
"Do you want me to put you to bed?" They had an audience which now included not only Luke, Jason and Brenda but half of Luke's clientele. Sonny however couldn't have cared less. As far as he was concerned only two people were in the bar. He could see her struggling for control and silently prayed that just this once she would let it go. Just this once he wished she would follow her heart instead of her head. He knew she was drunk and tomorrow would probably deny everything that happened here tonight but again he didn't care. He had a chance and he had to take it. All he needed was a hint of interest on her part and he would make her admit her feelings, even if it took him the rest of his life.
"Fine, let's go." She agreed and he led her out of the bar ignoring the applause that followed them. Apparently their display had been quite entertaining.
"So," she asked as they exited Luke's, "what lullaby are you going to sing?"
