"Honey I'm home." Alexis called out as she entered the penthouse. Sonny came down the stairs dressed in a dark suit.
"You're late." He told her glaning at the clock, though he clearly wasn't upset.
"I know, I got held up in court. We can still make it though, just give me a minute to change. Where's Jilly?" Alexis asked as she headed up the stairs.
"She's doing her hair, Jax brought her home about half an hour ago."
"And did you boys play nicely?" She asked sweetly as she began to change.
"I'll show you playing nicely," he told her taking her hand and pulling her towards the bed.
"We don't have time Sonny, my entire family is waiting for us." As if on cue Jillian called them from downstairs.
"Sonny, Mom, Eric, I'm ready."
"Eric?" Alexis looked questioningly at Sonny. Jillian had been thrilled when they told her about the baby. However she kept changing her mind as to it's gender and name. Before Jillian went to Jax she had been calling her 'sister' Lisa. Sonny reluctantly went downstairs and Alexis finished getting ready. When she came downstairs Jillian was sitting on the sofa and Sonny was nowhere in sight.
"Where's Sonny?"
"On the phone, he said it would only take a minute." Alexis began to look over the mail on the table while they were waiting. She came upon a large brown envelope. She opened it and discovered a typed letter and a smaller sealed envelope. After reading the letter she opened the second envelope. It was a hand written letter, she read it once, and then again, still not believing the horrible truths it reveled.
"Mom, what is it?" Instead of answering she picked up her cell phone and dialed.
"Hi Jax are you staying at home this evening? Great, Johnny will be bringing Jillian over in a few minutes. I can't explain now, we'll talk later." She hung up and realized Sonny had entered the room while she was on the phone.
"What's going on?" He asked looking from Jillian to Alexis.
"There's been a change of plans." Her voice was such that neither Sonny nor Jillian thought to argue.
Alexis was silent as she and Sonny took the launch to Windimere. She seemed to be thinking through something and Sonny didn't want to interrupt but she was scaring him.
"Alexis do you want to talk about it?"
"No." She couldn't, it was taking all her emotional strength to not break down but she was determined to keep control at least until she finished what she had to do. As she and Sonny entered Windimere the rest of the guests greeted them.
"Alexis, Sonny, where's Jillian?"
"She's spending the night as Jax's." Sonny answered since Alexis did not seem to hear her sister's question. She was searching for something or rather for someone, she didn't have to wait long. Stefan entered the room with Nicolas.
"I still think you and Gia should travel to Greece for your honeymoon, show her all that it means to be a Cassadine."
"Yes Nicolas show Gia all that it means to be a Cassadine, but don't be surprised when she runs for the nearest exit."
"Alexis? Is something wrong?" Stefan asked surprised by her sarcasm.
"What could possibly be wrong brother dearest? I mean, here we are surrounded by a loving family, what more could we want? After years of wanting, years where we were the only one each other could rely on. You were always there for me, weren't you? I trusted you more than anyone, at times I trusted no one else." She paused watching the faces of those around her. Kristina, Max and Gia looked confused. Nicolas and Sonny who knew enough about Alexis to be worried were both watching her with concern. Her eyes fell at last upon Stefan, her brother, her friend, her protector... her betrayer. "I received a letter today. Mrs. Krieger instructed her executer to send it to me after she died. Care to guess what it said?" Stefan turned pale.
"Alexis I think we should speak in private."
"Why? Don't tell me you're afraid of what they will think of you." She gestured at those that stood around them, watching silently. "I'm sure you'll think of a way to explain yourself, after all you're the selfless protector of us all, watching over us, cleaning up our messes, controlling our lives." Her voice was becoming louder and slightly hysterical.
"Alexis I realize you're upset..."
"You think I'm upset? Stefan you lied to me about the most important thing in my life. You played god with my life."
"Alexis you were a child, I did what I thought was best."
"It wasn't your decision to make Stefan, it was mine. You took that away from me. You took everything from me Stefan."
With that she turned to leave.
"Alexis wait." She stopped and turned to look at him. "I realize you're angry and you have every right to be but I am your brother and everything I've done was out of love." Alexis looked as though she were about to explode.
"You did it out of love?" She asked in disbelief. "You lied to me Stefan, you told me that my baby died. You managed to top even Helena in your cruelty. Your only sister here is Kristina, God help her. I want you out of my life. You will not see me, you will not see Jillian and when this child is born I will die before I allow you to get within ten feet..." At that moment Alexis felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and doubled over at its intensity.
