He was an idiot. The most amazing woman he had ever met in his life had left him and he had just let her go. Granted she was dripping wet and obviously uncomfortable, Alexis was the only woman alive who could make the "drowned rat look" look good. But still, he should have gone after her. He should have, but he couldn't, not until he figured out what to say to her. He couldn't exactly knock on her door and say, "Hey, what's up? Oh and by the way, I'm having erotic fantasies about you every night and I think I'm falling in love with you." Or could he? No, midnight confessions were definitely not the way to go, not with a woman who was so skittish about love that she hitched a ride from her wedding. No, Sonny's original plan was the only way to go. Alexis didn't let people get close to her very often but when she did she was fiercely loyal. He wanted to show her that he could be just as loyal, just as trustworthy. She had once told him that she would trust him with her life but could she trust him with her heart. If he was to believe Kristina she was beginning to. Maybe he just needed to help her along.
Alexis sat on the sofa trying not to think about him but she could think of nothing else. The way he looked standing there in his soaked shirt, the way his hands felt on her body, strong but incredibly gentle. And then there was what he had said. There was a definite implication in his words. Had he meant it or had he simply been flirting? There was a soft knock at her door. She knew it was Sonny. No one else would knock at her door at 2am, she only hoped he wasn't being arrested. When she opened her door she was surprised to find Sonny not accompanied by the police but rather holding two large mugs.
"I saw your light on, he explained, and I thought you might like some hot chocolate."
"Thanks," she replied automatically reaching for the mug. There was an akward silence after they sat down on the sofa, finally Sonny spoke.
"So Kristina's..."
"Asleep, yeah, she offered to stay up with me but I could tell she was tired. So why are you still up?"
"Um, actually I was thinking about earlier, I wanted to appologize, for the water." Sonny told her doing his best to look sorry.
"I'm the one who started it Sonny, if anyone should apologize it's me."
"You're right it was entirely you fault," he agreed, grinning at her.
"Why do I have the feeling I've been set up?"
"Well it's only fair after your movie scam." He pointed out.
"I made that up by washing the dishes."
"Yeah and I spent the next hour mopping up my kitchen."
"You're right, it wasn't fair so what about if I buy you dinner to make up for it?"
"What if there's something else I want?" Sonny challaged lightly.
"All right what do you want?" She replied masking her nervousness incredibly well, all those years of sparring with Helena had finally paid off. They were dangerous words to aim at a man who had been waiting so long for what he wanted. Sonny could not resist her an instant longer. He leaned over and allowed lips to taste hers. Those lips, that had scolded him, teased him, and comforted him. He registered in the back of his mind that she tasted of chocolate, it was delicious and he wanted more.
Somewhere in the part of her mind that was still capable of thinking Alexis realised she was kissing Sonny Corinthos. Well that wasn't quite true. Two minutes ago she had been kissing Sonny, what they were doing right now could only be described as making out. Somehow Alexis had ended up laying on the couch and in another odd turn of events Sonny had ended up on top of her. He was slowly running his hands though her hair, along her back... Whatever he was doing Alexis was thoroughly enjoying it. Not that she was passive in these events, no she was definitely a participant. Sonny was amazing, she could feel his bare arms holding her and... His bare arms? Sonny wasn't wearing a shirt? Oh no! Wait, stop! Alexis tried to sit up. Sonny had known this moment would happen, Alexis' brain was back in control, and her feelings were firmly in check. He continued to hold her hoping, willing her to give in to it but she had already withdrawn from him.
"What was that?" She asked sounding slightly panicked.
"Couldn't you tell?" He was trying to lighten her mood but so far it wasn't working.
"We were kissing." Her voice was a mixture of disbelief and something else he couldn't quite read. Actually they had been doing a lot more than kissing but now was probably not the best time to mention that. Instead he continued to watch her. How was it that he'd never realised how beautiful she was. We don't kiss, she was insisting as she began to pace. Pacing was definitely not a good sign Sonny thought. "We're friends," she continued. "We talk we laugh, we fight, occasionally we hug after one or both of us has almost died, but we don't kiss. And do you know why? I'll tell you, because there are somethings you just don't do." Her voice was beginning to get louder and more animated. "I mean you can think about something or even dream about something but that doesn't mean you should do that someone, I mean something. I mean I can't tell you the number of times I've dreamt of killing Helena but I would never... okay bad example. But somethings are better left imaginary, like that rabbit, Harvey, in that movie. Sure its fun to have a six foot tall imaginary bunny, but can you imagine the damage that thing would do in the real world."
"Alexis, what the hell are you talking about?" Sonny yelled in an attempt to break though her ramblings.
"Us." She yelled back.
"You're crazy."
"You're a jerk." Unfortunately one or both of them must have been too loud because Kristina soon appeared at the top of the stairs demanding to know what was going on.
"We're having hot chocolate," Alexis replied quickly.
"Really, is that what you call it?" Sonny challanged. He was an extremely frustrated man at the moment, in more than one way.
"Go back to bed Kris, Sonny was just leaving anyway." Alexis told her sister glaring angrily at Sonny.
"I think you should stay down here so we can finish our hot chocolate." Sonny suggested softly while grinning at her.
"Sonny I'm tired so if you want hot chocolate I suggest you drink it yourself." She told him before heading upstairs and slamming her bedroom door.
