Chapter 2

"Please state your full name for the record?"

"Antoinette Skye Chandler Quartermain." Skye replied once again reminding herself to relax. Being on the stand was brining up several memories she would rather forget but she had to do this, for Alexis.

"What is your relationship to Ms Davis?"

"She's my friend." Skye replied with a slight smile. In truth Alexis had been more like a guardian angel to her over the last few months.

"Is it also true that she was your attorney during the murder trial where you were accused of killing Louis Alcazar?"

"Yes."

"Did you become friends before or after the trial?"

"During." She replied as she remembered back to the beginning of their unlikely friendship. Alexis had agreed to represent Skye because of her determination that no one else should have to suffer because of a man who had caused so much pain in life, and even more through his death. Skye had been reluctant at first believing that Jax had hired Alexis to mount an inadequate defense. She soon realized how wrong she was. Alexis threw herself into the case spending many hours talking to Skye not only about Louis but also of all the things that had led her to his hotel room that night. The more she heard the angrier she became with Jax and the more sympathetic she became towards Skye. It was during this time that Alexis was finally able to bring Kristina home. The trial had ended quickly once Alexis proved how much evidence tampering had occurred, most of it carried out by the DA himself. Still once the trial was over the friendship remained.

"When did you first become aware of Ms Davis' plan to move her and her daughter into the Quartermain home?"

"The day before she moved in, I came by for lunch and there were all these men packing her belongings. That's when she told me she was moving."

"Did she tell you why?"

"Not at first but eventually, later she did. She told me Ned was blackmailing her." <,p>"Did she tell you what he was using to blackmail her?"

"No."

Alexis had wanted to tell Skye and yet she was afraid to. Though she knew she could trust Skye to keep her secret there was still danger in her knowing. Ned was becoming someone she did not recognize and it scared her.

Early in the morning on the day Skye came for lunch Ned had come first. He demanded to see Kristina even after Alexis explained that she was asleep.

"I don't believe you." He told her pushing his way into the nursery and putting on the light. This combined with his yelling of course caused Kristina to awaken. Alexis reached down to pick up her daughter but Ned got her first. He held the crying infant trying to make her stop unsuccessfully.

"She's hungry Ned. I need to feed her." Alexis explained reaching out for her daughter.

"You can't even let me hold her for a minute can you?" He sneered making no attempt to hand her over. "I've come to a decision," Ned announced having to raise his voice over Kristina's now frantic cries.

"Ned, give me my daughter." Alexis demanded with deal calm.

"Whose daughter?" Seeing that he was willing to push this as long as he could she quickly sought to appease him.

"Our daughter." She replied trying not to choke on the anger he was causing. With a gloating smile Ned handed the baby to Alexis who stooped crying almost as soon as she reached her mother's arms. "I need to feed her." Alexis repeated hoping Ned would leave.

"You can feed her in the living room," he told her. "I need to talk to you."

Alexis had agreed thinking that he would vent his anger for a few minutes and then leave, nothing could have prepared her for what he did instead.

"You want Kristina and I to move into your family's home?" She asked certain he must be joking and yet the look on his face was completely serious.

"That's right." He replied smugly.

"Ned you know we can't..."

"You seem to be under the impression that I'm asking you, I'm not. Though I do know how much choice means to you so I will give you one. Either you and Kristina move into the main house with me where you will be able to have full access to your child or I tell Sonny that he's her father and little Kristina spends every second weekend and most holidays being screeched at by Carly."

"Ned you can't..."

"Oh by the way, Sonny appears to be in the middle of yet another takeover attempt so admitting the truth about Kristina could put her in danger from more than just Carly, still the decision is yours."

She sat there stunned, trying to remember the man she had known and when he had turned into the heartless person who now stood before her. Of course she had accepted with ultimatum. However she had only done so to buy herself some time. She had planned to leave, to get away from Ned and from Port Charles itself. It was only supposed to be for a week or two at most...
