Dinner & Dishes

Alexis left her penthouse at exactly seven and headed to Sonny's. Johnny opened the door for her without knocking.

Sonny came out of the kitchen to great her. "Hi, you look great." She was wearing her usual skirt and blouse but Sonny secretly liked this buttoned up look, it made it even more fun to imagine...

"Sonny, are you okay?"

"Yeah, dinner will ready in a few minutes, can I get you a drink?"

"Got any rum?" She hadn't meant to say that but the way he was looking at her was making her nervous, it was the same way she looked at a freshly microwaved bowl of popcorn.

Sonny could tell she was nervous so he merely raised his eyebrows slightly before pouring her a glass of rum and handing it to her.

"Thanks. So what did you make?"

"It's a surprise. Come sit down," he said pulling out the chair for her.

He then returned to the kitchen. He was still in there five minutes later.

"Do you need any help?"

"No," he replied too quickly at the thought of Alexis in his kitchen. Two minutes later he entered the room with two plates.

"Linguine, in a white clam sauce," he announced in a bad french accent.

"Mmm it smells heavenly." Alexis sighed happily.

Some time later...

"That was wonderful, thanks." They had just finished their meal, having talked and laughed throughout and Alexis realized she could no londer hide the truth from him. She sat down on the sofa, "Sonny there's something I need to tell you."

"You can tell me anything." He said coming to sit beside her. Could she finally be ready to admit her feelings?

"I... I wasn't going to say anything but... I mean dinner was so great and well..."

"Alexis just say it."

"I lied to you." She blurted out at last.

"What?" Sonny asked with an amazing amount of calm considering the situation.

"Well it wasn't so much of a lie as something I didn't tell you."

This was it Sonny thought, the moment of truth had finally arrived. Alexis opened her mouth, willing herself to confess and finally the words came, "I'd already seen the movie."

"Huh?"

"The movie we watched last night I had already seen it, I knew who the murderer was before we started watching it." Now that she had told him she was beginning to feel much better. Sonny on the other hand was trying to cover his disappointment.

"You scammed me?" He asked with mock horror.

"Well you're the one who insisted on making the bet," she pointed out.

"I notice you waited until after eating dinner to confess,"

"Well you are the best cook I know."

"Flattery won't get you out of this one."

"I'll make it up to you."

"How?" Sonny suddenly seemed to be standing far too close and Alexis looked wildly around the room for an idea. Then she found it.

"I'll do the dishes," she suggested. Sonny looked as though she'd just suggested she would go skydiving.

"Do you know how?" He asked seriously.

"Sonny it's soap and water, I think I can handle it."

"Okay if you insist."

Ten minites later Sonny entered his kitchen to find Alexis at the sink washing his dishes and rinsing them with the handheld sprayer. He grinned, he had a dish washer but so far Alexis hadn't seemed to notice it, and if she could keep secrets... Alexis looked over her shoulder and caught Sonny grinning at her.

"What's that look for?" She asked suspiciously.

"Nothing, you just look cute, very domestic."

"Oh no don't tell be you're one of those neandertals who believe a woman's place is in the kitchen?"

"Of course not," Sonny denied, "especially if the woman is you."

"Thank you, I think." She replied not certain if she had just been complimented or insulted.

"I can think of several rooms I'd rather have you in." Sonny did not realize he had said the words aloud until Alexis spun around and looked at him like a deer caught in the headlights. Unfortunately she was still holding the sprayer in her hand and it was still on.

It took several seconds for Alexis to register that she was spraying Sonny, and several more before she decided to stop spraying him. As a result the front of Sonny's shirt was now soaked. As soon as she stopped Sonny walked towards her.

"A cold shower might have been more affective," he told her continuing towards her until there way no more than an inch between them. She vaugly registered his hand reaching behind her and picking up something but before she could realize what he was about to do, she was confronted by a glass of water poured directly over her head.

"You..." she turned back on the sprayer at once, this time aiming for his face. He too made a grab for it but her grip to too tight. He began to tickle her in the hope of loosening her grip but only succeeded in becoming more soaked as she flailed around wildly but maintained her grasp. They continued to struggle until Alexis caught something out of the corner of her eye, someone was watching them.

Zander knew he should leave, back away slowly and try to forget what he had seen, but he couldn't seem to move as he took in the scene before him. Sonny's kitchen was covered in water and Sonny and Alexis were both drenched,Sonny's arms were wrapped around her waist they seemed to be fighting over something that she was holding behind her back but both were laughing so hard it was difficult to tell. He could tell the exact moment Alexis saw him. She stopped laughing and withdrew from Sonny's embrace.

"Um sorry, Johnny let me in." Zander explained hurridly.

"I see." Sonny replied making a mental note to fire Johnny.

"I can come back," Zander suggested.

"No, no you stay, we were just..." Alexis realized there was no possible way she could finish that statement and so she didn't. Instead she turned to Sonny with as much dignity as she could muster, "Thank you for dinner Sonny, it was lovely." With that she turned and walked from the penthouse head held high, despite Johnny's startled gasp followed by...giggles? Were bodyguards allowed to giggle? Well whatever he was doing she ignored him as she opened her door, only to be confronted by the shocked faces of Ned and Kristina. They had obviously just gotten back from a date, Ned still had his coat on.

"I thought you were going to Sonny's for dinner, not a swim." Alexis shot her sister an evil glare before replying.

"We did have dinner, it was lovely." With that she turned and began to head upstairs but once more Kristina spoke, she was obviously trying, unsuccessfully, not to laugh as she asked how Alexis had ended up soaked.

"I insisted on doing the dishes."
