Chapter 4

Sonny stood in the doorway of the guest room and thought it was amazing what a couple phone calls could accomplish. After calling Benny and giving him what little information he had to begin his search Sonny had called the department store. Explaining who he was and that money was no object the manager had been very helpful. Now Sonny watched Kasey fast asleep in what the store manager had called the toddler dream castle bed. Pink and white Sonny thought it was perfect for his little princess though he had a feeling Alexis would roll her eyes if she saw it. When she saw it, he silently corrected himself. He would find her and bring her home. And he had no doubt he was in for a lecture about spoiling their daughter when he did. There was a small trunk in one corner filled with dress up clothes and a playhouse in the other. The shelves were lined with dolls and various stuffed animals and the closet was stocked with a complete new wardrobe. Her favorite toy, which she now held tightly in her arms while she slept, was a small stuffed hedgehog that she had named Popcorn. He had made sure to buy a nightlight not knowing if she was afraid of the dark but she hadn't seemed to be. Deciding he should go make breakfast before she woke up he went down to the kitchen. While downstairs he called Benny, Jason and even Jax but there was no word yet on Alexis. When he came back to her room he saw that her bed was empty, then he noticed a flicker of movement in her playhouse. Kneeling down and peeking in the doorway he saw that she was on her play phone pretending to talk to someone.

"Hi there, who are you talking to?" He asked grinning at her.

"Mommy," she told him. "Miss you." She said into the phone and Sonny felt his heart break.

"Breakfast is ready." He told her because he could not think of what else to say.

"Okay. Bye Mommy. See soon." She hung up the phone and came out of the playhouse. Later as Sonny sat with his daughter at the table he decided he needed to tell her who he was.

"Um sweetie, you know what a Daddy is right?" He asked not sure how to broach the subject.

"Fwankwin has a Daddy." She told him.

"Franklin? Is he a friend of yours?" She shook her head and laughed as though he had said something silly.

"Fwankwin a turtle." Okay this was not the way he had expected this conversation to go.

"Um okay, well you have a Daddy too, sweetie I'm your Daddy."

"Daddy?" She asked pointing at him.

"That's right I'm your Daddy," he repeated with a little more confidence this time.

"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy..." she repeated happily over and over making it into a sort of song. Sonny had never heard anything more beautiful in his life. Just then someone knocked on the door.

"I'll be right back he told her getting up to answer it.

"Hi uncle Sonny," Michael said when he opened the door. "Did you forget I was coming?" He asked when he saw the obvious surprise on Sonny's face.

"No Buddy, I just didn't expect you so soon, but I'm always happy when you come over. Hello Carly." He greeted.

"Hi Sonny, um, could you drop him off at Bobby's after the visit. I'm gonna be..."

"Daddy..." a voice called from inside.

"Come on in," he told Michael and Carly walking back to the table to get Kasey out of her booster seat.

"Oh my God", Carly gasped looking at the child in Sonny's arms, "she's back." Only after the words came out of her mouth did she realize what she had said. There was no reason for him to ask who the she was Carly was referring to. It was equally obvious that Carly was not surprised to see Sonny had a daughter.

"You knew?" Sonny asked trying to keep his voice calm. "Michael this is Kasey, could you do me a favor and take her upstairs for a couple minutes, I need to talk to your Mom." Michael who was used to his Mom screwing up and Sonny having to "talk to her" merely nodded and took Kasey's hand leading her up the stairs. "You knew, that's why you tried to get Alexis out of town." It wasn't a question. "Didn't you realize what it would mean to me? I mean you had to have known."

"Honestly I didn't think you would want a living reminder of that mista..."

"Carly," Sonny interrupted obviously upset. "I have never hit a woman in my life and I don't intend to start now, but you need to stop talking. Let me make myself clear, if you do or say anything to hurt my child or her mother I will see that you regret it for the rest of you life, now leave. I will take Michael to Bobbie's when we're done visiting."

"Sonny I..."

"Goodbye Carly." She left then without a word knowing it was useless.

After going back upstairs he discovered that Michael had decided he wanted to go to the park. At first he had no, wanting to stick close to home in case there was any news. Then it happened Sonny Corinthos mob boss extraordinaire met his match. Tears threatening and a quivering lower lip she looked up at him.

"Pweese Daddy." And that was it, he was done for. Half an hour later the three of them were at the park. They walked passed a large wall with a mural painted on it of an underwater scene.

"Look Daddy," Kasey exclaimed pointed at a mermaid, "sirena."

"No Kasey," Michael argued, "that's a mermaid."

"No, sirena," she insisted. Sonny stood there watching in amazement.

"Actually you're both right," he said at last. "Michael, sirena means mermaid in Spanish." He couldn't take his eyes off Kasey. How did she know that? "Where did you learn to say that?" He asked her.

"Mommy."

"Your mother taught you Spanish?" He asked incredulously. How was Alexis teaching Spanish to their child when she didn't speak it herself. Well if there was a way Alexis was certainly the one to find it. "So you speak Spanish and English, anything else?" He asked laughing.

"Gweek" came the serious reply and Sonny stood there stunned.

By the time he dropped Michael off at Bobbie's and got Kasey home she was fast asleep. He tucked her in upstairs for her nap and then ran back downstairs to answer the ringing phone.

"Hello." He said, slightly out of breath.

"Sonny is that you?"

"Alexis?"
