Chapter 18

Sonny and Alexis just sat there while Jax continued to pound on the door.

"Do you want me to get rid of him?" Sonny asked. Alexis' eyes grew wide as she stared at him with a look of disbelief. "I meant that I could have him escorted out of the hotel." he explained patiently.

"No I might as well talk to him." Sonny began to walk towards the door but Alexis quickly stopped him. "No let me open it." If she let Sonny open it the two men would most likely be in a fight before a word was spoken. "Jax, come on in," Alexis invited unnecessarily since he came into the room as soon as the door was opened.

"Where's Jillian?" He asked looking around the room.

"She's downstairs at the swimming pool."

"Alone?"

"No, Max is with her." Alexis replied.

"Oh great one of Sonny's henchmen is watching her, well then everything's fine." He stated sarcastically.

"Jax what the hell is wrong with you?" Alexis asked finally having enough of his self-righteous attitude. "I know you don't like Sonny," both men huffed at the understatement, "but Jillian is my daughter and you don't get to say whom she can spend time with."

Whatever Jax had been about to say was interrupted by the appearance of Kristina at the still open front door.

"If you guys are going to yell you really should close the door," she said doing so herself before adding, "I could hear you all the way down the hall."

"Kristina what are you doing here?"

"I decided to join Jax on his search for you."

"I see. Look, I'm sorry I left the way that I did, it was stupid but I needed to figure some things out."

"With him?" Jax shot an accusing look at Sonny.

"Yes with him." Alexis replied taking Sonny's hand in a clear message to everyone in the room that things had changed.

"I need to talk with you Alexis, alone."

"Going to tell her what a bad man I am Jax? Why can't you just leave her alone?"

"Despite what you think Sonny not everything is about you," he turned his attention back to Alexis, "I need to talk with you about Jillian, please."

"We'll be right back." Alexis said before leading Jax into the other room.

"So," Kristina began as soon as Jax and Alexis were gone, "nice place you got here."

"You're not going to yell at me for corrupting your sister?"

"In case you haven't realized, my sister is a fully capable of taking care of herself.

"I've noticed," Sonny replied grinning.

"Besides which," she continued casually, "she's obviously in love with you."

"Okay Jax what did you need to talk to me about?" Jax took a minute before answering not sure exactly of what to say.

"Are you sure that Danniel switched the test results?" He asked finally.

"How did you...? Kristina."

"Don't be mad at her, she was worried about you, now please answer the question."

"If Kristina told you everything then why are you asking me this? You already know the answer. Danniel is not Jillian's biological father therefore he must have switched the results."

"Alexis who is her father?" Jax asked no longer able to contain himself.

"I'm afraid I can't answer that."

"I'm afraid you're going to have to." Jax replied. He ignored the look of surprise she gave him and continued. "Alexis I could see how upset you were when Danniel ordered the tests, I just wanted to help, and so I switched the test samples. The DNA they tested against Jillian's was mine so what I need to know is did Danniel really switch the results or is Jillian somehow my daughter?" Alexis stood there certain she was dreaming, or imagining or something, this couldn't actually be happening. "Say something dammit Jax shouted. Tell me I'm wrong tell, say something!"

"Hey leave her alone." Sonny yelled running into the room and seeing Alexis' obvious distress.

"Sonny its okay, I'm fine" Alexis reassured him. "Jax has every right to be upset; I've been lying to him, to all of you."

"Oh my God, its true I'm Jillian's father." Sonny looked at Alexis silently asking her to deny it but she was looking at Jax.

"Honestly, I don't know who her father is." Alexis replied at last.

"But how is that possible?" Kristina gasped. She looked shocked, so did Sonny. Jax however looked surprisingly calm as though he had finally figured everything out.

"She's not your daughter, is she?" He asked gently, but not waiting for an answer before continuing. "You're not her mother but you did know her mother. She was beautiful with long dark hair that fell in a mass of curls, and big brown eyes. At the Christmas party, you curled Jillian's hair, just like her mothers, that's why she looked so familiar to me. That's why Laura looked so shocked, she knew her too." Jax continued speaking oblivious to the shocked faces that surrounded him. "I knew her twelve years ago, she was young and sweet and terrified of something, I never found out what. She told me her name was Marina but that was all she would tell me about herself. Who was she Alexis?"

"She was my sister."
