Cheetahs are the fastest land animals. They can run up to 70 miles (110 kilometers) per hour for short distances. This is good for catching their prey because they can outrun their prey and kill them. Cheetahs hunt by day.

They have a very lean body and long legs. Adults stand about 3 feet (0.9 meter) tall and weigh about 100 pounds (45 kilograms). It's head and body is about 4 feet (1.2 meters) long and the tail is about 2 feet (0.6 meter) long. Cheetahs have brownish-yellow fur with black spots and a white throat and under belly.
