Bobcat

Bobcat


Bobcats have a short tail and pointed ears with tuffs on the end. Their coat varies from tan to reddish-brown with small dark spots and blotches. They have long hairs on the face like sideburns. Adult bobcats are 30 to 45 inches (76 - 114 cm) long counting the tail. Males weigh approximately 24 pounds. Females weigh about 16 pounds.

Bobcats live in mountains, swamps and wooded or shrubby areas. They are good climbers and they can also swim.

They live mostly on rodents.

The gestation is approximately 65 days. Bobcats litter usually consists of 2 or 3 young.

Scientific name is Lynx rufus
